[It's been a day or so since the battle and the Doctor has had time to calm down and get his head together. Everyone is relatively alright, sure, and the Navy fortress has been reduced to a smoldering heap by Ace, Ikki, and his own inventions. But he's got a few thoughts about all of this, and as usual he's not terribly good at the whole staying quiet thing.]

Right, so, I've got a bit of a question. Aside from the whole...stereotypical law thing...does anyone know exactly why the Navy of this world is out to get us? Most of us aren't really out to overthrow governments, steal things, and plunder ships.

'Course, that doesn't seem to matter much, does it? No, not really. And it sort of makes one wonder what sort of nonsense assumptions they're working under. At least, it does me.

Anyway. Guess that's a moot point for me. [His voice gets a bit colder.] Magnets, it seems, are a wonderful tool for causing all kinds of mayhem with their forts. So, I guess if any of you listening to this are Navy types, I'd appreciate it if you'd not give me cause to come up with something new. Next time I won't be so forgiving.

[And it softens again as his warning is delivered.]

Oh, right. And also if anyone knows where I can find a few well polished bits of quartz, well...I need them for a bit of a project.

[And with that random barrage of information, the Doctor closes the book, apparently already distracted by something else.]

Given their attack on my crewmates, and our retaliation? I'm going to go ahead and say that's fairly doubtful. I don't know for certain, but I'm in no mind to be dealing with them. Hurting children. That...that's unacceptable.

...yes, of course. But as said it is a very large organization. If there comes anyone with a will to reason, it may be in our interest to decrease further bloodshed.

But if not, I must remember this is not my own world, and even there we have had to deal with those that are unforgivable...

I'm sorry, I see your crew has been through some trials, sir. It is not my intent to undermine that.

I just worry about where their actions might lead us all as a whole, and my own friends' safety.

Oh I hardly disagree. I don't want more bloodshed. Not at all. I'm not going to go out and kill people, I don't do that. Nobody should be doing that. I don't really know what I want out of all this, honestly. Other than a resolution that won't end in violence.

[Sadly, he can't see any other way right now.]

And I doubt your crew will be under fire for our actions.

As far as their retaliations go, I cannot be so certain that we will not. But I do not blame you all FOR those actions, either.

As I said, it seems to be largely them pushing us down this path...

Well, certainly. I don't really want to fight, I really don't. But when they force our hands, surely they must understand what's coming...

And good, glad you won't blame me. It'd be silly, since we're in the same boat so to speak.

No, I... understand that. There was a time when I was afraid to fight because of what I might do, but I now know not doing so would have been the biggest mistake I could have ever made. It is unfortunate, but it becomes a necessity. Perhaps even more so in this world.

But yes, we are. And I do hope the best for you and your crew, sir.
