3rd Order ♚ Response to the Navy Shenanigans ♚ [Voice][Action possible for crew members!]
The Navy was never that fond of us to begin with... it's only now that they decide to take any decisive action.
[A light huff passed his lips, it doesn't sound as if the young Earl is too concerned by all this]
I wouldn't put much stock into this display, if the past is any indication of their level of competency.
[Besides, Ciel had a little trick up his sleeve should his vessel run too close to their waters]
It would be in our best interests to at least keep aware of where the Navy is frequenting. So I would suggest that if anyone runs into their ships that they please inform the rest of us so we can all avoid them as best as possible. It's a vast ocean, and they can't very well patrol every location.
[Action]
[Ciel had been keeping holed up in his cabin for a spell, pouring over all the charts at his disposal looking for the best direction to steer in. Although he'd learned what he could from the dockworkers on Ilsa Empieza, and the tomes he'd purchased he was still an inexperienced seaman. If he could only find a true captain willing to take the reigns he could dedicate more of his time to other endeavors.
Seated at his desk, he was in an unsightly state. The buttons on his jacket were fastened to the wrong holes, his socks were uneven, and his hair was a little more messy than usual. This having to dress himself thing was another hassle... thankfully the journals couldn't project that...]
[Standing up.. he tried once more to tidy up before walking out on deck. One there was for sure... they needed more distance between them and that island]
[ooc: ALSO.. I made a plotting community for us over HERE. I'll be making an ooc post later about it :3]

[Voice]
[Voice]
[Voice]
[Except, of course, the idiots who started this off by burning the island.]
[Voice]
[
.. because it would make it infinitely more easy to gather information from them][Voice]
Like I said! I want people to stay safe.
[Mostly, the people on her crew, but still.]
[Voice]
It's nothing to get upset about. [He wasn't sure if she raised her voice in response to her inability to find the right word, or in response to him so he thought it was wiser to cover all contingencies] It was a compliment, really. Most people are more inclined to look out for their own well-being, wouldn't you say? To find someone exhibiting the opposite behavior is refreshing.
[He explained, not at all sure if she was going to understand what he was saying]
[Voice]
[Seriously, the idea confuses her, despite everything she's witness.]
...Thank you. It's kind of you to say!
[Voice]
Perhaps you're familiar with the saying, "There are only two types of people in this world, those that take from others and those that are taken from"? As grim as it is there are many who give this idea credence.
[Myself included..]
I suppose, in this setting... if anyone is determined to claim that gem for themselves they might not be opposed to standing idly by and watching their competition disposed of by the Navy.
You're welcome.
Voice
Voice
[He sincerely wondered how that could be true, when more knowledge of seafaring would greatly benefit him just at this moment]
... You mean, because we are more likely to choose less logical solutions to evade their efforts and therefore we won't be where they're expecting us to appear?
Re: Voice
Voice
[An attempt at levity?]
I intend to rule that out as an option. Sinking our vessel, would ultimately lead to more complications then it would solve.
[There would also be no way to be certain that any of the rescued crewmembers would A. have their journals with them, or B. manage to survive long enough without food or water in order to be picked up by a rescue team. Being stranded in a lifeboat could be an exceptionally nasty, slow, and agonizing way to die.]
Re: Voice
Voice
It would have made about as much sense as everything else you've said up to this point.
[He'd been looking for something a bit more constructive than the responses he was receiving]
Yes, that is a difficult task... I'm sure of it.
[Voice]
I am only surprised to find they gave us warning before hanging the lot they found on the island they militarized. It was far more generous than I would have expected.
[But the idea about watching the Navy was a wise one, and he was more than willing to
sharegather information on that. ]Have you seen much of the navy where you are?
[Voice]
[Yes, that in itself was a bit strange. Why did they give them ample time to get away?]
Not as such. I'm certain they're very near, but the island has them preoccupied. What of yourself, and the region you're in?
[Voice]
[The Navy's mistake is their gain. ]
I've seen nothing of the navy since transferring ships. They do have a base on the Corsair Kingdom archipelago, but I could not tell you on which island. We did not find the base, we were only warned by the natives and chased by one of their ships long before all of this trouble occurred. Given that they claim to be on high alert now, the chain is best left avoided.
[Voice]
[Ciel agreed easily. Despite the lack of warning, the locals had seemed weary of the newcomers almost instinctively.]
The Corsair Kingdom? [He repeated, as he looked for such a place on his map] I will certainly make a note of that. [There was something familiar about the way the man spoke. He could have very easily have arrived from England himself.] I wonder.. if the navy has such an expedient method of conveying information from one ship to another like we do. I would be very interested to learn the truth to that matter.
[If they have some sort of "magic-for-lack-of-a-better-word-journals", carrier pigeons, or anything capable of transmitting morse code... how he would love to intercept some of their communications to keep tabs on them more accurately]
[Voice]
[He would LOVE to know how they communicate with each other too. The... well pirates for lack of a better term, were easily enough to keep track of. They kept making journal entries and destroying islands. Not at all subtle.
But the Navy, they did like to keep more quiet usually. That could make them dangerous.]
[Voice]
[The Dog. What a completely useless individual he is...Where the heck is that demon when you need him? Ciel could just order Sebastian to infiltrate one of their ships, if only he were here. It was all so inconvenient]
It occurs to me that we have not introduced ourselves as of yet. An oversight on my part. [This person, seemed to have a good head on their shoulders, so perhaps it was someone he should make a better acquaintance of] I'm Earl Ciel Phantomhive of the Queen's Gambit.
[Voice]
Haytham Kenway, recently of the Triton's Mistress.
[Hm, an Earl was he? Sounded very young for that title. Where was his father?]
What part of England are you from Mister Phantomhive?
[Voice]
Nice to meet you Mr. Kenway.
[
Dead. Ciel took but a moment to convey the area he was from..].. and I also keep a townhouse in London. If you don't mind my asking, where are you from?
[Voice]
I'm from London as well.
[Born and raised in even. ]
How are you finding your new lifestyle? Being a pirate must be far different than being an Earl.
[Voice]
[Thank gawd, an englishman]
It's taking some adjustment to be sure. As of yet, I haven't had to do anything that would be an insult to my station, and I'd prefer to keep it that way. It may be expected of us to become pirates, but I have no desire to become one myself.
I pose the same question to you. How are you finding your new lifestyle?
[Voice]
action;
They were safe for now, she knew that, but she knew it was only for the meantime.]
Sup Captain, I've check the food supplies I brought and we should be good for at least a month and a half at best.
action;
That's certainly a relief. Good work, Musa.
[He offered her a faint but sincere smile. The truth of the matter was, now that they were cut off from the home port and he was unfamiliar with the other islands and their resources he was unsure when they may get to replenish their supplies. This month and a half would give him some time to play with. Musa was proving to be an asset to the ship, not only for taking inventory but for her actions in October when so many other crews had been falling prey to some very odd circumstances.]
[He was a bit troubled after looking at the map... only one island appeared on it when he knew there should be dozens more, and there was no scale to indicate distance. Unless they decided to sail blindly, then their course had already been decided for them. Little did he know that more of the map would fill itself in after they had journeyed further]
I suppose it goes without saying that we won't be able to linger here any longer. Isla Empieza isn't that far from here... and I don't fancy a run in with the Navy at this early juncture.
action;
I think the last thing we need is another fight, so... [her fingers trailed above the map along an empty part of it.]
Best bets would be going this way, but I can always check since we haven't a clue where anyone else is heading and if they should be avoided or not. [She pauses for a moment, thinking about it something's keeping safe wasn't always an option, especially if they start to lose food. They would need to hunt and gather if that was the case.]
This is still not cool, though.
action;
Toward the North? Any particular reason for that suggestion as opposed to the other cardinal directions? [Maybe she knew something he didn't about what they could expect to find there from her own interactions]
No, it is most certainly not.
[Ooc: I'm totally up for suggestions on which island you all want to go to first. I've been looking over the island registry, and there are quite a few interesting places to go to and see~! Do you have any preference?
I'm going to ask Lizzie-mun too!]action;
I just think if we explore what we don't know, we could find out if we can find supplies or food elsewhere. Better to be safe than sorry.
[OOC: I don't mind either, I was trying to figure out an island that people haven't been on but I'm not exactly sure of that.]
action;
Mm. I think we should make ready to sail immediately.
[OOC: I'm not sure of that either, but I looked through some of the islands and thought Aeolipile Isle might be pretty neat to explore. Then of course... any island would be neat to explore :3. It's in the Northeast, and has a mostly dormant Volcano.]
action;
It shouldn't be too hard after a month of doing it.
[OOC: Sounds like a good one to explore.]
action;
[The crew was falling into their own routines, about manning the ship. It seemed like they might just be able to pull this off. Not that Ciel wanted to advertise any of his insecurities]
[OOC: Sometime after the Navy vs. Pirate event I'll get a log going for this Isle then :3!]
[Action]
Ciel!! Up here!!
[She waves cheerfully and with a vibrant smile. One would think she has no idea about what has been happening on the world or the threat they are currently under. It's quite the opposite, though, but she won't let her worries damper her mood when around Ciel.]
[Action]
[He questioned quietly to himself, searching the expanse of deck before him. After a moment he looked skyward, it had sounded like the voice had originated from there but it was still unfathomable thinking of a lady having to climb such a distance to a crow's nest]
[He raised a hand to shield his eyes from the sun]
Lizzie!
[Although she was in no immediate danger, he couldn't help feeling a bit troubled. He was going to have to get more used to the idea that they were both going to need to depend on each other to man this vessel. Taking a breath, he cupped his hands around his mouth to help the sound carry more efficiently]
See anything up there?
[Action]
[Her cheerful laugh is carried down as she leans forward, firmly holding herself so she doesn't fall, of course.]
We're safe for now! Have you decided where to go now?
[Action]
Mm, I believe I have.
[Ooc: I've been checking out the island registry and reading some lovely descriptions. Before Ciel sets anything in stone, is there any island you're keen on heading too first~? I thought I should the give the two of you the option to suggest the first island too!]
[Action]
[Elizabeth takes one last look around, making sure that everything stays calm before she starts to climb down, half way, though, she takes a shortcut by jumping down and landing elegantly near Ciel.]
Where are we going then?
[ooc: Not really, I'm fine with whatever you choose or whatever Musa's mun wants.]
[Action]
An island to the North.
[ooc: Just waiting on a response from Musa-mun, so the direction um.. might change 8D. I was thinking of Aeolipile Isle. Sorry for being vague Lizzie!]
We'd better make sure everything is in order before we start undergoing the journey. Musa has already checked our inventory, and I've plotted a course.. and of course you've been keeping a sharp eye on our surroundings.
We should be ready to head out soon.
[Action]
[Chances are none of them know how they could do it, hopefully, Musa's hope to get new crewmates would have been enough to provide them the extra provisions needed for such a journey. She had been upset when no one seemed to be interested to join, but now she can see the truth on that saying about how something good comes even from bad things.]
There hasn't been a ship anywhere in our surroundings for several days, pirate, merchant or from the Navy. Though we can't know how long will that last, so the sooner we head off the better.
I hope the Navy didn't come from the North, we could be running into reinforcements if so-... Oh! But maybe Musa's soundwaves would be able to help avoid that.
[Action]
[Even if they hadn't been, he wouldn't have wanted to worry her about it. He could have reduced his own rations to keep hers at their normal levels. That was unnecessary at this time. They really did have a bit of overstock thanks to the lack of additional crewmates.]
I fully agree. We've been fortunate for this long but it's not likely to last forever.
They did have some of their force stationed up there, as well as some near the Corsair Kingdom in the south. With the focus being on Isla Empieza I suspect that they've probably pulled some of their number from these other ports.
Musa's soundwaves? [He'd only seen a portion of what the fairy could do over the course of their time on board. Was that the power she used to repel those aggressive creatures that were changing people into all manner of monstrosities?] Perhaps. We don't want to impose on her abilities too frequently if we're able to avoid it but you might pose the suggestion to her.
[Action]
I'm glad she joined us, she's really nice and a very enjoyable company. She may not be an experienced sailor, but she's very versatile, isn't she?
[Her clothing, though...]
