THIS WORLD SUCKS!!!

[For someone that's been forced to write in a diary for the past seven years, Luke's handwriting sure does look like cheagle scratch. It doesn't help that he's fed up and annoyed, which only serves to make his already crappy handwriting that much worse.]

I used to love the ocean, but I can't stand it any more! All we ever do is sail over here, get attacked by giant moths, sail over here, lose some crew members in a fog, sail over here, pick up some brats. It's so damn boring, and now we're going back to that stupid island we started out from again!? Even though everyone said we should get off of there as soon as possible?!

I hate this! I want something different to do!

[...just be glad this is written, and you don't actually have to hear his bratty ranting.]

[There were many points: adventure, exploration, charting, mysteries. Piers sighed and shook his head in reply.]

Does it need one? We found ourselves in this world with only a little poem and orders to sail. I would think that alone would be enough of a point for everything.

[The mellow uncertainty in the young man's tone quieted all jokes and games. More than he was someone inexperienced with sailing, Luke was someone who was inexperienced with life.

For all of his years, Piers didn't believe that he knew much more himself.]

But we don't have that luxury, do we? And, it is doubtful that anyone is going to answer any of our questions plainly. We can only find them if we search for ourselves.

[Progress was progress, no matter what the form. Piers turned his gaze out toward the horizon contemplatively at Luke's words, all too familiar with the sentiments himself.]

Until something else happens, we don't have much course except for the ones we make ourselves. Sometimes, that does involve running around in circles.

[A cross seas or even across continents. It wasn't anything unusual.]

We may actually have an edge over everyone, thanks to your friend.

I am.

[He smiled.]

Aren't you curious about what happened with the 'Heart of the Sea', and why the people no longer exist?

...I think we all are, Luke.

[Piers was concerned as well. The fragmented story that Jade found reminded him of some of the stories he had stumbled upon during his travels across Weyard. He knew how badly everything could go if they weren't careful.]

But, sometimes you have to continue moving even if you are worried. That story is our only lead, and we might be able to find out how to go home if we pursue it.

[There was that look again, the one that spoke of more than just normal traveller's nervousness. Piers shook his head and offered a small smile.]

What are you worried about?
