Okay! I asked some questions of the people around the Island and read the entry that appeared in my journal first. I went to that funny statue too. I think I'm prepared to do this now.

Hello everyone. It feels strange writing in a journal that other people can see, but it's a familiar thing at least. Almost comforting. I hope that other people feel that way about it too.

My name is Nitori Aiichiro. I'm trying to figure out where to go from here. I have all this information, but that doesn't tell me much about how someone who doesn't know how to sail can possibly join a pirate crew.

I know how to swim! That's not really useful once you're really far out in the ocean, is it? I mean, unless someone falls overboard. Or you have to dive to look for the treasure. I'm good at cooking too. Everyone has to eat, even on ships, right?

I wish Matsuoka-senpai were here to help me organize my thoughts. He's really good at pointing out what I'm capable of. But I can do this! I can totally handle this situation, even if it's really weird. There's no reason whatsoever to just give up. I'll just find a crew and then

Wait. Everyone can see this. I forgot and gave myself a pep talk. Oh no, that's so embarrassing! Maybe I'll just wait for an answer now.

[Just excuse him for a second as he makes a squealing noise at the end of that exclamation.]

[Yeah, sorry he's probably going to have to be told to say 'captain' instead of lord, if that's desired.]

[Motochika lets people express themselves as it suits them -- as such, he thinks nothing of the choice of address.]

[He drawls, pleased.]

I trust you to keep your word. We have much to offer you in turn... including lessons in seafaring.

[He pauses.]

To be honest, I'd never thought about it before, even though I live near the water. But I do love water, and it seems so interesting. I arrived here earlier today, and I've already been excited just listening to people talk about their ships and their adventures.

We are all caught in the same current... no shortage of adventures stretch out before you too.

[There is friendly challenge in Motochika's tone.]

Are you prepared for the consequences?

Of course I am!

[Wait for it. Wait for it.]

What kind of consequences?

[Motochika huffs a laugh.]

Days on end without a glimpse of land. Danger in many forms. The truly unpredictable whims of fate.

[He has a penchant for being dramatic, your new captain.]

Ooooooh.

[It certainly has an effect, at least at first. Aiichiro's voice is a little shaky.]

I... of course I'm prepared for...

[Then he realizes something.]

Matsuoka-senpai has been surviving all that up until now, so I have to be able to do it too! I won't let him down.

[Motochika sounds satisfied, clearly pleased by the response.]
