Captain's Log 1
[In blue ink there's a very flowing script from someone who clearly has no idea that this is public.]
Captains Log
Day 1 of being Captain
Teleported to strange island. Green fountain is the only clue, flying the nearby area didn't help figure out location. If it's in the New World, it's not one of Whitebeard's islands.
Surrounded by noisy idiots who are no help.
Still miss Pops.

Re: Text
Yes.
Now answer.
Re: Text
Crocodile.

[Shhhh. This will work.]
[.....]
[Okay, it doesn't.]
[Enjoy a few scorch marks Crocodile.]
[Marco just sighs and picks up his quill and ink again. You did agree that Akainu was a worse fuck than all of them combined, but that doesn't fix it, you know? Whatever. This day just keeps getting better and better.]
Seriously?
[Yup. That's all he wrote back with.]

I see that you're as eloquent as the rest of your ilk, Marco. What a special little vacation this is turning out to be. Tell me, did your crew follow you here?

[As for answering...]
[He's disinclined to tell Crocodile the truth just on principle, and he doesn't want the bastard thinking Marco is vulnerable. Unless it makes him arrogant enough to do something stupid like try to come find Marco alone, which would be almost too nice of him. On the other hand, if one of the crew is on the island and Marco just hasn't found them yet, then Crocodile might try to find them first and that would be much worse.]
[Aside from which, Marco has his own retort in mind.]
No. Are yours?
[Hahah take that stupid bastard.]
no subject
[Ah, that is the question. Das Bones was the only crew he really had of any note.]
Perhaps. Hard to say, when I haven't combed the whole island. I've just arrived, after all.
no subject
I'll keep an eye out for you then, sweetheart.
[All the deadpan sarcasm ever, but he really will keep an eye out for any friends of Crocodile's. And not even to kick them, but at least to keep wary of them.]

It isn't as though I tried to help make the tattoo synonymous with revenge or anything. [Oh wait...]

[Granted, he'd love to have Teach's throat in his grip right now, powers or not.]
Blame Blackbeard and the World Government. I did my part several times over.
no subject
[Hm.]
[To waste them on another attempt or not?]
Pops chose where to die. Neither Teach, nor you, nor any marines, no matter their rank, could sway him even one step.
Haven't you learned yet? Even in death, he's a million times stronger and freer than you'll ever be, idiot.

It's always sad to watch people attach so much sentiment to the deceased. Free? Strong? He lost crew. He lost Ace. He lost his life. He even lost his ability. The Whitebeard Pirates are losing territory. The World Government has more power than ever.
Please enlighten me, Marco. Please give me some sort of proof beyond worthless platitudes and your verbal pandering to the memories of the dead. How exactly is he strong now? What did he leave you, or any of us, beyond more meat to bury?

[There's a part of Marco that rages at them, but most of him pushes it aside. It doesn't matter. None of those things ever did. If they failed Ace it was in not teaching him enough. Not giving him more reason to stay home, and not enough support as he needed in his choices.]
[Pops lived free and happy the way he wanted to, as did Ace.]
[What did they leave? Simple really.]
Legacy.
[It was a hard burden on Marco, and to date, he still hates it. He resents it. But he's glad for it too. Whitebeard had no regrets, and even if he has to face losing territory and all of his nakama, there are some things no one can take away. No matter how they take down the flags they worked so hard to put up, no matter how much death and chaos rages in the wake, he'll always have his name, and for that Marco will always have his Whitebeard pride.]
My father opened and closed the gate on more eras than anyone else. He lived every day the way he wanted to. No one has anything better than that, no matter what world they're in.

You really are living in the past. [This is all bullshit. Mr. First day as a Captain here. Right.]

Would you like a peg leg to go along with your hook, or would you prefer an eyepatch instead?

I'm sure we'll be seeing each other at some point, Marco. Good day.
