Alright everyone. I'm here to offer a bit of advice regarding the recent events.
First order of business: Kindly do not engage these restless spirits, or taunt them. At most they should be warded off or avoided, as--from what I've gathered--coming into contact with them may turn you into some sort of creature. Doing anything else will invite trouble.
Whether you might believe it or not, this is the time of year when the boundary between worlds hardly exists. Unless one truly knows what one is doing, it's always better--much safer--for those walking on this plane of reality not to tamper with any other. Alive or, ah, undead, leave the dead to their own devices.
[England clears his throat--] Second order of business...
Imagine my surprise when I spied a flash of lightning in the distance and its source wasn't in the clouds from any kind of storm. And then I'd heard word that it was in truth a purposeful act.
Most of us are at sea now, first on wooden ships and second on wooden ships with large amounts of dry gunpowder. Adding electricity to the already humid and volatile ocean air is a recipe for certain disaster. I myself have used spells and magic for centuries, and I'm sorry to say it matters not how skilled anyone may be, I'm fairly certain their shipmates would like not to die in a fiery explosion somebody caused out of sheer recklessness.
I would also like to add that many fae, spirits and spectres take energy from electricity, provided either by man-made devices, magic, or storms. It's not worth the risk.
Please, everyone: Leave them be. Use iron to guard yourselves and if you've a competent user of magic aboard, have them assist you in this endeavour using barriers and protective spells.
In the event that you are shifted into a creature, seek assistance and inform your captain. If you're the captain yourself, inform someone you trust. This needn't be worse than it already is, as long as the proper care is taken and nobody feels like being dramatic.
I'm overdue for a bloody good cup of tea.
If anyone on the Triton's Mistress requires magical assistance, please contact me--Arthur Kirkland, Quartermaster. Unless it's an injury, I will be accepting payment and trade of goods and services for my help.
Thank you.

Re: [Voice]
Hold on.
[He sets his book down to tromp around in the hold.]
Okay, it's a moot point. We have no salt right now. Clearly there are some logistics issues that need to be worked out since none of us are sailors.
[Voice]
... Salt acts as a preserve of food, a versatile cleaning agent in pastes and as powder, and it can disinfect wounds, added to fresh water and gargled to purge one's throat of an infection-- It's absolutely necessary to survive and even more so while sailing.
Re: [Voice]
no subject
[voice]
Really, what a fine state of affairs to be caught in. He blames Jack.]
Yeth. [Yes, that is a lisp, due to the elongated canines he is in no way accustomed to. And yes, he is cringing over it.] Thank you, Mithter Kirkland, I'm thure thith lot apprethiates your efforths at thuch.
[There's another pause.]
For the moment, I'm afraid I muth athk you to at the very leath watch the thip for now. I theem to...Have a wee bit of a problem.
[voice]
Did you guess, "The sound of Jack Sparrow laughing hysterically?"
Because if you did, congratualtions, you've won! ]
[voice]
Jack.
Why would you ever. Seriously, now is not the time.]
Jack. [That, at least, comes out normally.]
Wouldn't recommend finding it tho funny, were I you.
[voice]
(Of course Jack's name comes out normally, and that's a shame if he ever heard one.)
But, no. Jack is an adult, and he can be reasonable and calm and collected...
No, no, he can not. Because the second Jack gathers his composure, Hector talks again, and Jack's right back into hysterics. ]
[voice]
No nothing.
And when he finally does speak, he's careful, to avoid words with the letter s.]
Jack, not in the mood for your attitude, mate. Got enough on me plate to be getting on with without you adding to it.
[voice]
[voice]
Laughter that only gets worse when Arthur joins in. ]
[voice]
Oh my God--bloody hell-- I can't breathe.
[voice]
[voice]
Really. [
oh my GOD]Shall I-- [lsfslk england tries so, so hard not to laugh, clears his throat.] Shall I fetch some blood or something? Likely to be fish blood.
[You know. Instead of human blood.]
[voice]
[What kind of barbarian do you think he is.
The kind that's going to murder you all in your sleep, that's what.]
I'm fine, no idea what you're going on about.
[Do you have any idea how often he uses the letter s? Because he does now.]
[voice]
[ENGLAND COVERS HIS FACE.]
Aye captain, if you--[he clears his throat again]--i-if you insist.
Anything else?
[voice]
Watch her. Can't afford to do anything more, really. I'll take over once night be fallen.
[voice]
Don't you mean THUCKTH.]--God--sorry I just--Yes, of course captain I'll keep an eye on her and the other on the crew. Nobody will be pulling anything like that long as I'm breathing.
[voice]
Thee that it'th tho. [A pause.] Hopefully there be a way to break thith curth nonthenthe.
[voice]
You do know that water creatures have a weakness for lightning, right?
*But okay, only now has it occured to her that she could have used some barrier spells. Always on the offensive first, this one*
[voice]
[voice]
*Selphie giggles to herself with the relief of knowing that this time, the lightning in question wasn't hers*
I wouldn't hit ghosts with lightning - no way would that even work! Who would try that! I was talking about the kraken!
For ghosts I coulda chucked a phoenix down but... I totally don't have any.
[voice]
And he really should've played any Final Fantasy game but he's been busy, okay.][voice]
That's what I thought! But people were trying fire anyway!
What...? You really don't know? They're potions - for extreme healing. Fight the dead with life - just makes sense.
*And lolol just trust me on this one then*
[voice]
LUCKILY, his mundane is plenty familiar with the series.] Oh! Thank you. Yes, it does indeed make sense. Somehow I have a feeling even potent healing would do little to our ah, visitors. Some spirits are impressions of incredible emotion, unfinished stories, left like imprints playing over and over.If you manage to procure another one of your potions, maybe save it for your fellow crew. Just in case.
[voice]
*There's a pause while Selphie takes a deep breath, and sighs heavily*
If I could find one, then yeah, that'd be a good idea...

Accepting payment from your crew-mates for assistance?

Dead are easy enough to deal with, seal them and they are harmless. Though some are more feisty than others, and perhaps should be restrained more readily than the enemy.

[ A pause, and then a sudden change in topic. ]
You are a magic-user?
