9th rise of the phoenix ஜ Voice

[The first thing that Ikki does upon finding himself on Isla Empieza is to throw up. It may be due the feeling of being pulled back and forth through a diminute hole at the speed of light, or it may be due the way his brain is drained and then explodes with memories. It takes him a bit to clear his mind, to get a hold of his surroundings, the memories that had been taken and then returned.

As he recovers, he casts a glance around if only to confirm that this isn't his home. He was sent back only to be returned to this world right away. And that's not the worst part of it. The worst part is that he doesn't know how long has it been here. He remembers from others that months here could have been just a few hours for them back in their worlds, and he wouldn't put it past Davy Jones and Chronos to make it be centuries here while it was just a second for him.

The second thing that Ikki does upon returning is to open his journal and snarl at it.]

How fucking long has it been?!

[Even if that's the first thing that he asks, it's not really what he cares for the most.]

Are the Spades still active? [Do people even know them yet? If they vanished and enough time passed it's possible people wouldn't have heard of them.]

Is Selphie Tilmitt still here?!

[Nah, Marco isn't ever going to let Selphie get hurt if he can do literally anything to avoid it. So he bows out, backing up to let them have a moment, and check on Selphie's food so nothing will burn.]

Age is also senility-

[Ikki's answer is cut short, and so are his moves when he finds himself with arms full of Selphie. Oh, hey there, now this is a kind of welcome one could get used to.

Marco is all but forgotten the moment his attention focuses on her, and he kisses her before he's even aware of it himself.]

Sorry for being late, love.

*On seeing him and hearing him and feeling him, Selphie feels fit to burst. She laughs with the relief of being with him, beaming at his apology and his kiss*

But you're here! You're really here!

*Her hands move from his hair to his face to his chest, and she plants kisses eagerly on his cheek, his jaw, his neck, his kips, and she laughs again at confirmation that this really is Ikki, that she has him back*

I missed you. I missed you so bad.

*Enough so that her eyes blurred a little with the threat of tears, which she then tried desperately to blink back*

[The feeling of her body between his arms, of her lips on his skin, is an alien one. It feels strange, unknown, yet at the same time comfortable and right. It was merely a second, maybe less than that, the time he was back in his world, but it's enough for him to forget all about Selphie and the rest, and for him to miss it all terribly once his memories were back.

He hugs her tightly against himself, maybe a bit too tightly but he can't help himself. It's unnatural how this feels so right, how "at home" he feels right now, after Marco's kick, with Selphie in his arms and after talking to all the others.]

I'm sorry. You know I didn't leave you by my own will, don't you?

[That's all he can say, he can't really think of anything else, so he says nothing else. Just hugs her tightly. Reassuring them both of their mutual existence, that they remember each other and are together now. That's all that matters right now as far as he's concerned.]

*What had frightened Selphie the most, other than the concept of him being at home and having no recollection of who she was, was the fear he'd return to her and have forgotten all about her, about them. She shook her head furiously, looking up at him with a fierce loyalty*

Of course! Of course I know that! Marco. He -

*Then she turns to Marco, still holding onto Ikki, but then realises that he wasn't there. She frowns as she looks back at Ikki*

Marco tried to make it sound like something else. Where is he? He's in serious trouble!

[NINJA!]

[COME FIND HIM!]

[OR GET DISTRACTED BY YOUR LOVER'S RETURN.]

[Whichever.]

[He admitted you were right though, Selphie.]

[He just wanted to be a brat, and was.]

[Ikki arches an eyebrow at that. Marco tried to make it sound differently? He can't really believe that, or rather, he can believe that but can't think that he was being serious. Not more than how serious Ikki is when he thinks that no one gives a damn about him, which today has been proved to be a complete lie, something which still manages to shock him.

So he hums, smiling a bit at the fierce loyalty that shows in Selphie's face. It's still ironic how one can be so blessed in this cursed world, but he won't complain and instead hugs her, burying his face in her hair.]

Hn, he probably was just teasing. Or in denial. Or too angry with me being gone. Or being defensive. Or everything at once. If anyone here knows that I wouldn't go back easily or by my own will alone it's him. I promised him to fight to defeat time and space, after all.

[Unfortunately, on the first round it seems he lost. Unless his return here was something he actually achieved by being stubborn enough. He can't remember any details besides the pulling back and forth, he knows he tried to resist but it's hard to do so when your whole being is basically nothing but atoms spreaded around.]

If you really want to get to him, though, I can sense him on the galley.

*Selphie wrapped her arms tighter around him when he hugged her again, running her hands up and down his back. She sighs softly, just so pleased to be close to Ikki again*

I think he was just angry. He made it sound like you didn't try hard enough to stay. But I said you'd never just leave us without putting up a fight. But it doesn't matter now because you're here.

*She steps back a little to look up into his face and she kisses his lips quickly before grabbing one of his hands*

Come on. Let's go.

*She'd walk Ikki down to the galley, staying close and never letting go of his hand*

Hey! Hey Marco!

Yo.

[Waves, fixing food.]

[Warily ready to duck anything from Selphie, though not Ikki, ironically.]

Marco. Ikki just wanted to check with me that I didn't think he meant to leave. That he didn't put up a fight. I told him no way. But you weren't so sure, huh? Or maybe you were just angry. I get it. I get that you were mad. And you admitted I was right.

*Selphie squeezes Ikki's hand, but pulls him on over to get closer to Marco*

But even if you were mad... You -

*And here she pokes Marco hard in the shoulder*

You messed up, mister! Ikki should have come through that Nav to ME and kisses. Not you and getting a kick to the head.

*She punctuates her speech with more prods, getting harder as she goes along, sounding madder too. Yeah...Selphie is definitely selfish when it comes to Ikki*

[He's tempted to just let her and Marco talk, happy with just being there. On the other hand, what Namur said still bothers him a bit so...]

Can't argue with that. I came through that Nav to YOU and your kisses, indeed. Just to you, no one else, hn?

[So take out of your head any crazy ideas of several boyfriends and girlfriends, he's still surprised you thought that, never took him as the type.]

[Grins broadly in spite of himself, and flashes a look to Ikki with some haki ping, aka: "See how much she loves you? Fuck that up and I'll murder you."]

Aye Sunshine.

[Kisses her forehead to disrupt her steamroll.] I just assumed once you got a hold of him you wouldn't let him out of your sight, and might want to spend the next few weeks together, and if I didn't kick him then, he would do something stupider to cause himself pain later.

[Hands her some food.]

[And kisses her forehead again.]

Enjoy your time together, and don't forget to eat. Both of you, eh?

[And as he starts to head out again, mumbles quietly in avian.]

The girl is hopelessly devoted to you idiot. She just wants you to have your freedom. Tell her what you want, what you really want so you can both be happy. Not that hard. No matter what Namur told you. Nam-chan's a shark fishmen, not part-bird. Their ecosystem is totally different. Trust me, yoi.

[And a nod again to Selphie with a wink.] Sunshine.

*Selphie smiles when Marco interrupts with kisses to her forehead. Well, now she's just gone and got mad for no real reason too, and she giggles at Marco's explanation*

Okay. Then I guess I can forgive you.

*Selphie felt the colour drain from her face at Ikki's comment, her fingers loosened on his hand. She turns back to Ikki, blinking in confusion*

Well...I- I'd really hope so Ikki... Just me...

*She smiles in return at Marco as he leaves, but it's a little shaky*

[How many times does he have to tell you to shut up and leave him alone about that, Marco? No matter what good intentions Marco has, Ikki doesn't forget that the last time he listened to his advice regarding steps and the like everything ended in flames. And not the good ones.

He resists answering his older brother with a snarl and contents with simply glaring daggers at him. Another word and not even Selphie's presence will stop him from trying to throw Marco into the sea.

Eventually his attention returns to Selphie and the glare and scowling vanish instantly.]

This is why I wasn't a fan of telling anyone, they may mean well but it seems that they are never satisfied with the way other people lead their lives or relationships. And they think that they are experts. [A sigh.] Not that I mind that you went telling them that we went official, but... What exactly did you tell them anyway? Because Namur seems to think that I want a polygamy or something... Unless that's the impression you got.

[Wasn't he clear enough? Maybe he wasn't, he can't remember much of their last Valentine at the moment, though he's pretty sure that they talked about their relationship and what they were to each other.]

*Selphie is so glad that he doesn't look angry when he turns to her, and she breathes a small sigh of relief. She does, though, look rather shocked and confused by what he says, shaking her head slowly*

I don't get it...

I mean, a few months ago I said to Namur that we weren't officially a thing. Because, well, we weren't. And I wasn't sure that was what you wanted. But - I haven't said anything to anyone about us. Or been going round talking about our relationship at least. But -

*Selphie frowns a little as she continues talking, although it's more like a pout than anything else*

Why would Namur think that? That's crazy. I've had talks with him before about how much I only want one person, could only really love one person, and how much I want to be completely loved just by one person, and how I wouldn't want that person to love anyone else so... I don't know what he's talking about. I just want you. And I thought you just wanted me. And that's that, right?

[He makes a sound of understanding as Selphie speaks, pulling her closer to him. A few months ago... That explains a lot.]

Right.

So, if you didn't tell anyone we are now officially a couple and neither I did... They are all basically acting on old news? [He snorts lightly, shaking his head.] And they decided that NOW is the best moment to give ultimatums and meddle in?

[The sad part is that they probably think that this is precisely the best moment. The best moment to ruin it all, maybe, because if Ikki hadn't made the decision himself weeks ago of being all Selphie's and not letting her being anyone else's, he can imagine himself deciding that it's not worth the pain she would suffer if he was to vanish again.]

I only want you, I only love you... This way, at least. But you can't compare with Shun or Marco or Leanne, and neither I can. They are our family after all, aren't they?

*When he pulled her closer, Selphie was flooded with relief, her arms around him and holding herself close*

Mhm. Looks like it. They just know that I missed you and now that you're back...I guess they feel like we should be together.

*Though she didn't want to go into too much detail about the sheer pain that she felt, of how she struggled to cope without him. Not when she just wanted to enjoy being with him again. She smiled brightly to hear that he wanted her and that he loved her, though she bit her lip and glanced down when he said how she couldn't compare to the others. Of course she'd never be as important to him as Shun or Marco or Leanne...

Selphie turned to look around the galley and the omelettes she had made that by now would be getting cold*

Are you hungry? Or thirsty? Will we go sit down somewhere...?

I guess they do, everyone was telling me to come to you first after all. Not that I needed anyone telling me in order to do it.

[He almost feels as if he should have been offended by them all thinking that he wouldn't go to her right away, but he knows himself and the image he proyects. Them thinking he wouldn't put her as a priority isn't that strange, specially if they don't know that they are really together and not just fooling around.

Ikki frowns a bit and arches an eyebrow as he notices the way she bites her lip and looks down, did he say something wrong? Her attempt to change the subject seems to cement the idea, so he ignores her question. With one hand he caresses her face to encourage her to look at him and have all her attention, he's pretty sure that what he said isn't wrong, but maybe she's misunderstanding it. And he has no intention of starting with those things right away again.]

Selphie, you know that when I say that there's no comparition between you and the rest it's not because you're not important to me or something like that, right? I care for my brothers, I would give my life for them as many times as needed, to ensure that they have the best possible life. But I have no problem living without them or away from them. You, however, are the one I don't want to see going away, even if it's to a better life, if I'm not there I won't allow you to go.

[After all, last time he tried to do that it ended backfiring greatly. Even when he tried to not care, to convince himself that she was happy with Aya and he was better without her. All it served for was to convince him of the contrary, maybe Aya would have been better, or someone else, but now he refuses to let her go.]

*Selphie smiled softly at the idea of everyone telling him to go see her. They'd seen how crushed she was without him, after all. Her smile became bolder when he said that he didn't need to be told. She had wanted so badly that he'd be the first person she'd come back to.

When he touched her face like that, Selphie's attention was immediately drawn away from the rest of the room and focused only on him. She gazed up into his face, just nodding as she listened. She could feel her heart tugging as he spoke, realising that it wasn't that she wasn't as important as the others, it was just different*

Then..things are going to be pretty straightforward since I don't want to be anywhere without you either. It couldn't ever be 'a better life' without you there.
