First Rose: Not in Oz [VOICE]

[He's been wandering around enough to see other posts and learn a bit about the journal's function.]

So we're given a journal, some money, and we're expected to leave this island as soon as possible via ship? [His voice sounds pretty skeptical.] Aren't there other options?

[In the background there is the sound of seagulls and the sea washing against the docks.]

I don't think I've been on a ship for longer than a day, if that long... [He can already feel he's going to have an awful time at sea. There is a sigh.]

From what I can see, not everyone has a journal like this. Any particular reason why?

I'm close by so I can come meet you if you want, but only if you can promise you won't try to kill me or kidnap me. You'll be in big trouble if you do!

*In a few minutes, Selphie will be strolling along the docks, gazing around like she's looking for someone, not at all paying attention to where she's going*

Haven't you already been kidnapped? I think you've suffered enough.

What do you look like?

Well... kinda! But not proper kidnapped! But thanks! That's sweet!

Lesse..I'm short..and I've got sticky out brown hair. I guess I'm kinda cute..Maybe. Oh, and I'm wearing a yellow dress, if that helps!

[He doesn't reply at that point, focusing more on keeping a look out for her. Honestly, the description about her hair and height (and cuteness) wasn't much to go on.]

[After a short while, he spots her in the yellow dress, looking around for him, he thinks. Aya walks over to her, sheathed sword in hand.]

Are you...Selphie? [He hopes he's saying that right.]

*Selphie spins round at the sound of her name, nearly tripping over her ankles as she does. She is ready to hold out a hand for him to shake, but then she sees that sword he's holding*

Whoa! Hold on there! I come in peace!

*She's smiling, but holding up her palms just in case*

Do you really? [He gives her a wry smile.] I've been told that I have to watch out for shorter people.

Yeah, I really do! *And Selphie does nod with an eager expression, before turning that into a concerned frown*

Why? Did something happen?

[He shakes his head.]

It's just common for people who are shorter to have equally short tempers.

Huh? Really? Then you've met all the wrong short people. My temper is actually pretty long!

*She gives a grave nod, because what she is saying is fact*

Besides, I don't think I'm the shortest person of all time...

Probably. I wouldn't be surprised if I did. [It's not like he goes in search of all the vertically challenged people.]

You don't think you are?

Then today is your lucky day! From now on your experience of short people is changed forever!

*Selphie shakes her head, even if she looks a little uncertain*

Well, I mean obviously kids and stuff are smaller than me. I dunno about people my own age, though...

[Aya will just smile wryly at that statement.] You can't guarantee that.

[He nods] That's what I meant. [It didn't matter...for now.]

So now what? [The point of meeting her was because of a challenge. One that he accepted pretty easily, but...details.]

You think I can't...but I'm pretty sure it's a guarantee already!

*Selphie nods and looks up at Aya, thinking now about just how short he might think that she is*

What now? Uhm... I don't remember! *Blinking, looking somewhat puzzled*

Was it... that you just wanted to make nice new friends?

[She's pretty short, but he's pretty tall, so there's little to worry about.]

[But at her question, Aya...isn't sure how to answer that.]

I was just answering a challenge.

Huh?

*Selphie just looks at him for a moment. And yes, she is just actually looking at him out of interest because she does that sometimes*

You mean the shard thing? That you need a ship for?

...you really don't remember our conversation... [Selphie...keep up!]

*Selphie just shakes her head, looking rather alarmed - oh shit, is she really losing her memories so quickly now*

I took my chances that you weren't an axe-wielding psycho murderer. [He knows better than to make a decision about her nature just yet, but he's leaning towards not an axe-wielding psycho murderer.]

*Selphie gives her sweetest smile and holds out her palms again, lifting them closer to him this time*

No axe! Though I probably shouldn't have left my nunchucks on the boat... Ya know, cause, technically, you're the potential murderer here...

*Nodding at his sword*

[Blinking, he looks to his sword, then to her with a light laugh.]

I can see you're a risk taker, but you have a point. You should also carry around your nunchaku at all times. [Call him paranoid, but they were in a strange world where people wanted them off their island as soon as possible.]

*Selphie raises a brow at him for a moment - seriously? Being lectured from a guy she's only just met?*

Yeah... That was pretty stupid. But this island has been safer than the others. I mean, people round here can still be kinda nasty and not friendly but I've not had to hit anyone - yet!

[Yep. Deal with it.]

That yet part is what I mean. [He gives her a wry smile.] Even if I wanted to leave, I'm not really sure I could just get a boat and head out.

*Sorry, but she's just going to wave a hand around and kind of ignore that first part. Cause obviously safety is not important*

Well - that's exactly why you need a crew and a ship! Cause they will help you out with that, through thick and thin!~

[He had joined up with 'crews' most of his adult life. The group in Sendai and Tsushima, then Crashers, then Weiss, and finally Krypton Brand. So used to moving from group to group that Aya is unfazed by this notion.]

[It's just the way she says it that rubs him wrong.]

If they don't turn out to be enemies, first.

Enemies? *Selphie just smiles at that and shakes her head brightly* Nope! Not on my crew, anyway. Everyone is nice enough. Do I look like the kinda girl who would put herself on a ship with a bunch of bad guys?
