[He's hit his stride now and his voice is booming out of the pages of the journal.]

I am Motochika Chōsokabe, Sea Devil of the West, Conqueror of Shikoku, and the best damn pirate there is! I extend an invitation to those with nerves of steel and a thirst for treasure to join up under my flag to make this strange ocean ours! Whether I need to find a ship of my own or commandeer one already afloat, know that I will be captain. Who out there is man enough to join my crew?

[Akira's studied some pretty extensive history in his time. That's a familiar name. Here he was, trying to snack on some local delicacies, and this guy is yelling.]

What is this, a period play? I don't know if you've noticed, but this ain't near Japan. Also, aren't you a bit colorful for the role?

[Motochika just laughs.] What's wrong with a bit of color? I think it suits me well enough. [He brushes some imaginary lint off his pants, causing the chains there to jingle with the motion.]

As I see it, a man should dress however suits him.

Most people here don't seem to have concept of reason. I realize my concept piracy is unconventional. [Weeks with Barbossa made that clear.] but this lot's makes us look like idiots.

One crew's already proven they can't go anywhere without causing a riot. I'm sure another is still lost and navigating by clouds. From what I've read on the journal they are actual pirates. And someone on some crew decided to raise the dead. The so called Navy is pissed and there are giant Sea Monsters about.

So the idiots he keeps shooing out here are making it difficult to sail the seas freely. [Really a nice long cruise is all he wants.

I ruled an entire island and had an entire fleet under my command before I got dragged into this mess, but I suppose I can't expect the same here right away. A good strong ship with 20 men should do. [He thinks this is perfectly reasonable.]

Sea Devil of the West? I have not heard Lord Chōsokabe Motochika referred to in that way before.

There is no need to commandeer another's vessel. Find the shipyard and select your own.

I most certainly am! Why does everyone persist in questioning that? I've no reason for deceit.

And see, that's not thinking like a pirate at all! I'll need a ship of my own, naturally, but right now it's more important that I put out to sea. I'm not meant to stay on land that's not my own for longer than I want to be there. If taking another's ship gets me out on the ocean faster, then so be it.
