⚔ 10 - Colonial Rite
[Open - Written]
[Unheard, the crinkle of a newspaper being folded and placed down beside the journal proceeded what was written across the page.]
Refreshing to see democracy in action. I am referring of course to the matter of the Bläckfisk elections. My son is always stomping about proclaiming the virtues of the people’s choice in government. I wonder what he will say now that those of Bläckfisk have done just that.
[With a bit of guidance, naturally.]
Fledging government and all, it is still a tumultuous time for those of Bläckfisk. I would recommend steering clear of the place until things settle. It is the island’s first proper election after all. There are bound to be a few rough patches as they find their way. Best your crews do not get mixed up in them. It would be a shame to hear you had lost a ship by sailing into port during an inopportune moment.
[Open to most but Locked from Elissa and her ‘ex-husband’]
At any point in your travels have you discovered a reputable jeweler? I am certain there are some around I just hadn’t cause to make note of them before. Though I suppose, in a pinch, some bit of plundered treasure might suffice if any of you have happened upon a ring and would be willing to part with it?
[Private to Triton’s Mistress]
To the crew of the Triton’s Mistress,
The business Elissa and I were distracted by has been concluded. Where might we catch up to you? Depending on how we travel, we may be passing by Isla Empieza on our return. Should you require anything we might be able to pick it up for you.

Hmmm. Who forced the retirement? The citizens? And why?

[And also not going to finger his own crew, the Triton's Mistress, as the assassins. Better to imply anyone had motive to do eliminate him cause there really had been just cause for it.]

What sort of power could you have found in a dungeon?

Did this djinn of yours follow you here?
[Voice]
'Course it followed me! It dwells within an artifact. That's how they work, only now they're outside the dungeon and wandering around with me instead.
[He sighs a bit.]
Dungeons are very dangerous. I wouldn't just go in unless you are ready to die for what you want.
[Voice]
[The warning about the dungeons is almost casually dismissed. ]
Death does hold very little meaning here but even if that were not the case, dying is a small price to pay for something you truly believe in.
[Voice]
[Sinbad grins.]
Not that I've had much chance to use it for anything yet. In case I need it. Apparently your djinn can also give power to anyone in your Household. There's all kinds of things I don't know about yet, I think!
[He hums thoughtfully.]
You don't really accomplish anything though if you just die.
[Voice]
[But if it happens it happens.]
The only djinn I have ever heard from come from children's fairy tails where they grant only the one holding the lamp three wishes. The ones you speak of must be quite different? If a household could become involved then anyone in range of your artifact might be able to use the djinn's magic?
[Voice]
Well he doesn't grant wishes, only power. I'll be a bit more specific. I have the djinn Baal. So he grants me a move called Bararaq Saiqa which is lightning magic. Ja'far is a member of my Household now, and Baal gave him the power of Bararaq Sei which lets him use the same kind of lightning magic, only in his weapon instead of mine. Ja'far came back from being a little more into the future and showed me how his weapons are now working with mine. It's really interesting! We haven't learned that much about it though.
