[There's a rather deep sigh coming from the mermaid as she still seems to be fussing over something.]

I take it from what I have seen happen that being in another person's body is a rather common occurrence at the moment? Might I ask who currently resides within my own body? If it is indeed Keimi, might I request that you at the very least try to avoid leaving me with any long lasting bruises? I'm afraid I haven't moved much yet myself, as I am entirely unsure as to how to maneuver in your body with this... tail. Do you know where I can find your bubble making device... and how I would even use it without falling off of it?

Please make sure to stick to drinking plenty of cucumber slices in water, and a mostly vegetarian diet. If you are feeling faint, you need more salt ocean, particularly on your lower half.

Cucumbers? I've never heard of putting cucumber slices in water before. Does it help with hydration? Is it meant to help the vegetarian diet needs? Or is it simply for flavoring?

Hmm... I'm not sure how I should go about doing that. Diving into the Ocean seems a bit extreme and unsafe, especially since I'm not certain if I'd know how to swim with this cumbersome tail rather than my own legs.

I believe the Straw Hats have a pool of some kind for Keimi? Though I'm not sure how deep it is. Ask for the chef, Sanji, or their loud captain, and either should be able to point the right way.

Heh... how foolish of me. I suppose in my own distraction with having swapped bodies, I forgot that there may be those on this very ship who could help me with her more day to day routines. I just hope that there are enough of them that haven't also been swapped out of their bodies.

Good luck, yoi. I suppose my ship lucked out in keeping me, but that's not the case for everyone. If nothing else, hopefully Keimi herself can tell you the rest of what to do.

Ah, so this is still Marco that is speaking to me... how very fascinating. Tell me, do you know many mermaids? I wasn't aware that you were so well informed on their health and dietary needs.

My brother is a fishman, we have a mermaid in the Spades crew, and my family back home spent the last several decades defending Fishman Island where Keimi is from from slavers and other pirates alike.

Admittedly I know very little about how politics work in your world, so I had thought that the fishmen were not in need of defending from an outside source. Is it because fishmen do not populate as much as humans do, and are therefore rarer and outnumbered?

Humans in general, are assholes.

They enslave and outcast anyone they deem different from themselves. Fishmen, mermaids, giants, monsters, pirates. Those born into war-zones, those born of a different species, just name it.

They're weaklings about it as well. The slavers and pirates go after the purposely easiest prey. Children, and the sick and injured, and then sell them to rich nobles so they can get their rocks off by watching the merkids swim around chased by piranha fish.

When the World Government in its infinite grand fucking dickery decided to try to close off the New World from pirates, the pirates' only route was through Fishman Island. Slavery is illegal in all countries of my world, but as the World Government encompasses none and all, they don't touch it, they look the other way and claim it's up to each country to enforce. And yet the world government royalty are allowed to do whatever they want. As such, humans deluded themselves that fishmen and merfolk are different from their own children, and decided to kidnap them and sell them back on the surface.

Not only were Fishman and merfolk isolated to a single island in the world where sunlight could still reach ten thousand feet below the surface, but they were also invaded by hundreds of jackass slavers and pirates who wanted to make a quick buck. There's not any single country in my world equipped to handle an influx like that, and the world government refused to help because it supplied oh... I don't know... A god damn distraction so their nobles wouldn't dig too hard into their ineffectual politics.

Shall I go into the conditions faced there or have you had enough?

[The cry of Aungish ringing out in Keimi's voice, makes the weight of it all just sink in even more to Maribelle.]

Please... Just stop... I... I know all too well how cruel and despicable humans can be. It had slipped my mind what Keimi had told me before about her people's enslavement, but she never had the heart to tell me the full and bitter truth about it all. I... I know I'm Naive... I want to believe in the good of all people, I want to believe that evil cannot succeed. Yet merfolk in your world have suffered a fate similar to the Tanguel of ours, except the Tanguel were brought almost to the point of extinction, all for the sake of 'racial purity' and 'sport'.

It is these very kinds of injustices, the nobility getting away with murder, and the eyes of the law turning the other way that I wish to correct. All... all I ever wanted was for everyone to be able to live a life free of this... this cruelty.

I am truly sorry, [Lady for her title, but he needs a name to go with it. He can't bring himself to say 'Maribelle', and certainly not 'Justice' what was the other--? Right.] Lady Shepherdess.

Believe it or not... correcting that kind of thing is something I can truly wish you well in. My Pops protected the island because he cared for the people. That is something he would have approved of.

[He knows he's just violently shaken because Namur is captured by slavers, and even when she'd heard it with her own ears that the navy were collaborating with the slavers, she still wanted to lecture him about taking lives, but then... wouldn't Queen Otohime have as well?]

[It's hard for him to feel anything CLOSE to the Queen's compassion when Namur is kidnapped. The one person he would least want to face enslavement for exactly this reason. But that is his own failure, not something to take out on naive girls. He's supposed to be stronger than that.]

It's been a trying time for everyone, and I miss my brothers. It's made me crueler than I need to be.

She hated slavers, she hated them more than she could say, the Plegian slavers had gone after her very own people, those she'd even considered dear friends, yet she really was trying follow Emmeryn's example when she tried to tell people not to act out in violence towards one another. Kuzan had said it too, that she couldn't rely on brute force if she wanted to win the hearts and minds of people and unite them. Yet it hurt... it hurt so much to just bear the injustices by showing compassion rather than just lashing out. Was this her fate? To either explode or implode?]
