On the ship of the Hazardous Materials Crew, the dragon sits and looks rather proud of himself, even if he's probably badly mushed the tip of the writing utensil currently clamped between his teeth.]

[While the voice is faint, it's still very distinct in tone. Hiccup gets to see all of this firsthand.]

Bud, what's this?

[Toothless snorts lightly, looking no less gleeful at his artwork. IS IT NOT BEAUTIFUL HICCUP. PRAISE HIM.]

Less than a year? Really!? But you two act as if you're joined at the hip. I took me AGES before I got my dragon to completely trust me. That skill of yours is amazing, Hiccup.

I wouldn't say it was that amazing! I felt like I spent a lot of time trying to get him use to me. And, well, it felt...right.

Just like pokemon training. Remember Spiritomb? It took me ages to get her to stop using me for dream eater practice. So how did you do it?

I can tell you it takes a lot of patience. Mostly observation. That's what I did whenever I had time to spend with Toothless. And then he caught me off guard one time when I was drawing him in the dirt.

Aww, he wants to be just like you. So this world of yours, does it have other kinds of dragons?

Eh, he learns fast.

Oh, yeah. There's a whole bunch of them out there. We even have a whole book on them, but the main ones we're use to seeing are the Gronckle, the Deadly Nadder, the Hideous Zippleback, the Terrible Terror, and the Monstrous Nightmare.

A book huh? Back home we had this thing called a pokedex. We used it to catalogue the different pokemon we would find on our travels and so far we've catalogued...about... seven hundred and nineteen? Eleven of those are pure dragons and about thirty one had a mix of another type. I had a friend back home who was obsessed with them. So he taught me all he knew.

Pokedex? Sounds fancy. And that is a lot of pokemon.

Well, there's a lot more in the Book of Dragons, but we still have to find them. Who knows, maybe we'll be able to come across some more.

...So. Who was your dragon-obsessed friend?

Oh he was a champion just like me, except he was from a region different from mine. He came from a town that was located right in front of a cave where all the pure dragons were. His grandfather was also the head of the dragon clan, and let me tell you, those guys take dragons way too seriously. I mean, I love my dragon. Those guys built a shrine for them.

Wow, you weren't kidding! Just having a town in front of a dragon cave sounds insane, but hey, that's actually really cool.

They also have this weird obsession with capes in that town. My friend has a whole collection for everyday use.
