New blood? I am not sure how I feel about being referred to as such, especially given the situation.

Do I even want to know how I arrived here? The last thing I remember before waking up near this fountain was a bright flash of light. So that leaves me to believe that I am either unconscious somewhere and this is all a strange dream, or I am dead and this the some form of afterlife, or somehow I was taken from my world and brought here. At the point I am not sure which I would prefer as all are undesirable.

Asking about how to leave this place feels to be pointless. What I do like to know is more about this place, especially concerning that Scurvy Dog and Davy Jones. Any information would be appreciated.

The answer is C, definitively. The good news are that you will return to your world, the bad news are that it may not be this century. Or it may be tomorrow, depends on when it's the most inconvenient for you.

As for Davy Jones and Scurvy Dog... Davy Jones is the guy you want to punch the most and whom you may never get a chance to get to, no one here has had the chance for it yet. He's the one that brought us here.

Scurvey Dog is a woman, or something, with a lot of power and basically our only source of worldwide information. Here's an advice, unless you have a serious and good question for her, don't even bother to talk with her. The lady is easily pissed off and last time that happened she sent us a fucking storm and a mist that got people drunk despite not touching alcohol. And it was because someone said she was wrong about something.

[That should help to give an idea of how hard it is to talk to Scurvey Dog without pissing her off.]

[Okay, people can talk through the books. That's different. She's just going to roll with it, keep her voice even, and not show that it surprised her some.]

They sound like lovely people... [Wow that's quite a bit of sarcasm there Rose.]

Thank you for telling me about them. At least now I know to trend carefully when concerning those two. Especially that Scurvey Dog.

Though they aren't as lovely as the things that happen here. It's one satisfying and happy experience after another, just wondering what's coming next makes me breathless with anticipation.

What kind of surprise should I be looking forward to? Other than mists that make one drunk.

To put it simply anything you could think of and everything you could not even imagine. So far we have had our way of talking and writing altered, our personalities changed, been possessed by a sea witch that used those possessed to kill their crewmates, gone back to the innocent days of childhood with no memory of this place or with our memories from it being altered...

Want me to go on? I've been here ten months and the toll stands on at least one thing happening each month.

[There's only some faint and twisted bitter amusement in his voice, the amusement that comes from laughing at something because any other reaction would just be a waste of energy.]

[She mutters something that sounds along the lines of "oh dear Soa..." before speaking up again. She's not too thrilled about the idea that she will unwillingly make a fool of herself while she's stuck here.]

I cannot think of any other questions at the moment. I suppose now my next step would be finding a crew to join. No doubt that staying in one spot would not be a good idea.

Looks like we got a smart girl here then! You would be surprised by how many fail to get that idea inside their skulls. Among a lengthy number of other things.

On top of everything I told you, you should know that starting soon, if not now, the Navy is behind your ass. They work to keep peace and justice on those waters and in case there is any doubt of it: none of us fit in that idea. So it's off to the execution gallons with us the moment they get their hands on you no matter what you haven't done or if you're a kid or whatever.

I have learned a long time ago that it does not pay to not be opened minded when you are put into a new situation.

[She gives a soft sigh.]

It would not be the first time some armed force would be after me. Though the circumstances are very different.

Hoo? No comment about how unfair it is? Or question about if it's possible to reason with them?

Exclaiming how unfair the situation is isn't going to change anything. The situation will still be unfair and one will be left looking child having a temper tantrum.

And you just said they would execute us as soon as we are captured by them. That hardly leaves any room for reasoning.

I'm officially impressed. You've no idea how difficult it is for some people here to get those two ideas into their skulls.

Kind of sad that just this is enough to impress me regarding new people in this place.

It's easy to get called a rookie, here. We get that 'new blood' every month like clockwork.

But, 'rookie' isn't that much of an insult these days.

The term "rookie" I would not mind. "New blood" just sounds like a term that is used for those who are thrown in a gladiator ring to be slaughtered.

So people being dragged here is normal. That is good to know.

Here, both essentially have the same meaning. You should hear my boatswain talk about using rookies as bait.

[There was definitely amusement in his voice.]

'Course, I can't laugh about it as much, these days. 'Rookies' are gettin' more and more impressive.

Well, regardless of what crew I fall in with, if anyone tries to use me as bait they will meet the edge of my blade.

[It sounds like she's joking, but there's something in her voice that says a part of her isn't.]
