voice/action for the Penguin
Maa, well... the wind seems to be dying down a bit.
[though it's still howling outside. He's been in the hold for the better part of three days because, among other things, his sleep mask kept blowing off. An ice shield on the deck was always an option, of course, but when it melted, Coby gave him long dramatic inward sighs and went to get the mop bucket.
So here he is, cross legged in the hold, playing cards, contemplating life and generally trying not to get a crick in his neck]
I hereby petition for a bigger ship. Though I'm not entirely sure which island would be the best choice for that.
[Flips over another card. Diamond. He can't help but think of Diamond Jozu -- Though he is not here. Twelfth Division Haruta, then. Haruta diamond, Portgas spade, Phoenix Marco the club and the hearts were for an entirely group of pirates all together so a high and low joker, then for the two relative uknowns. Fishman Namur. Fourth Divison nee Headhunter Thatch, rumored to have been assassinated by a former nakama but very much alive here. Though perhaps he was in the same boat with Portgas.]
Otherwise, who else would want to make peace with the Navy? [Club. Spade. Heart... he thought he'd shuffled all those out. To the side it goes. There was not a card for Marines of course. They were generally supposed to be the players]

Voice;
[he refuses to believe that boy is anything but reckless, but comes out ahead because of the underrated ability to see things through to the end.
He would like to point out that everyone is a pawn of someone. But he can't think of who the Straw Hats may be a pawn of. The boy just seemed to do what he want and reshaped the world with a maddening causality that sometimes gave Kuzan the the faintest desire to try and bite through a door.]
Nevertheless, it's also impressive.
[and doesn't it grind his gears to admit it.
Well it doesn't because it's intriguing and letting your gears grind over something like that when there were so many other legitimate problems to focus on was a waste of time and energy.
But, you know, metaphorically]
At least you seem to have championed Smoker to your cause.
[since-- given all that he's heard and some things he's carefully blocking out from his memory-- Smoker is not a man who is easily enmor... fond of anyone let alone pirates]
Voice;
[And while that's flattering in a way, she refuses to believe it entirely. Smoker is just obsessive and has confused himself, is the more likely scenario.]
Voice;
[said in a somewhat regretful tone as most of the time when Kuzan can bring himself to think about it, the only word that comes up is "why" said in mournful tones of someone who doesn't really want to know, but nevertheless does.]
But I'm beginning to wonder if Smoker was a lost cause the moment he met him.
[the boy does seem to have that effect on people. Well not that specific effect. Or at least he hopes not. He'd rather not think of effects like that at all anyway. At least where it concerns Smoker and someone more than ten years younger than him]
Voice;
Most people are.
[Let him take that as he will. Though she means it in the least sexual way possible.]
Voice;
Regardless [and getting to a much safer point] you have nothing to fear from me.
[he's not sure how he'll go about things yet. It's taking too long to decide, he can feel, but yet, what else can he do in such a strange situation. But as fair warning]
The others here will follow their own justice.
[Whatever that might be]
