[The Doctor's script is slow and deliberate, like he's waiting on something unpleasant to finish that he just can't rush. He's got a question that's more idle curiosity than anything pressing, but one he'd like answered. After all, he's got to wait on the glue to dry on his little project, and may as well see if anyone might have any bright ideas.

Because being at sea is fairly boring. And there is a distinct lack of music, so may as well fill it with idle chatter.]

So, life on a ship. Dreadfully boring when there's nothing going on yes? Yes.

Well, I've gotten a bit bored and I could use some suggestions on ways to entertain myself between projects. And I thought that...well...perhaps some of you fine people might have some ideas, preferably nonviolent or lethal ones, on how that could happen.

Suggestions appreciated.

Regards,
The Doctor

[What kind of nickname is that...

Her handwriting is also script, but in red, and not so slow. It's quite legible.]

Is that truly how you wish to be addressed?

As for entertainment, I can recommend stocking up on literature, if you do not have any aboard. There is also Truth or Dare.

I prefer books personally. But word games and Truth or Dare never get old.

[At least not when you are the oldest brother and get to prank 1600 idiots into doing your bidding.]

[Sweet sweet free entertainment.]

[Quick, let's come up with a prank to troll Ace with.]

At least be original.

I beg your pardon, Miss?

[Elissa's script is much like a casual sort of simple, Celtic calligraphy and the markings are a good indicator that she is actually using a quill and ink.]

When I am not busy with my shipboard duties, I keep up a correspondence with friends I have made both on the island and through this journal. It helps to pass the time as well as allowing me to learn more about other customs and other places.

Perhaps you should find a few such individuals? I would be happy to write to you, if you are interested. My usual method is to select a blank page nearer to the back of the journal and simply begin a back-and-forth communication as if actually sending letters to one another.

I would be delighted to converse with you, Doctor, especially if you know anything about healing.

You may call me Red. Also, you are pardoned.

Thank you, but I'm not sure what you meant.

Was I copying someone? [A pause.] Red?
redcinemareel: (Grell: oh ho ho ho!)

Red, Miss Red, Her Majesty: Captain Red...whichever you feel most comfortable with~!

That someone would be me.

Oh? Great minds think alike they say.

Perhaps I should challenge you to a little bit of friendly competition in that case.

Tell me Miss Captain, her majesty, the magnificent Red, are you a gambler?

[Don't do it Grell. Run.]
redcinemareel: (Grell: Ah~?)

[Voice]

[personal profile] redcinemareel 2013-09-23 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm...I'll accept that.

[She makes an amused noise at the title. Definitely remembering that for later!]

My, my~! Those words roll off your tongue quite well!

I don't usually, but I wouldn't mind indulging once in a while. With the right stakes.

[She's running in the wrong direction...]

[God damn it.]

Care for a little game of truth and dare then? Winners are determined by the outrage of our fellow nakama or journal-holders.

[Doctor, I am so so sorry for this. Moral of the story? Don't ask what pirates do when bored.]

I'm game! [Grell and boredom weren't good things...]

Hopefully this Doctor fellow will join us.

If not, we'll just have to entertain him.

Care to go first my lovely Red?

I would be honored.

Truth or Dare?

Hi, Doctor~ If you're bored, you should try papercraft! Origami would be great, too! It takes a lot of practice to get it right, so you could fill up a lot of time. And then you have something neat to show off when you're done!
collagehero: (OH BOY)

[personal profile] collagehero 2013-09-23 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's so much fun, isn't it? You can do really simple things like frogs or cranes if you have a few minutes, but I've seen pictures online of really amazing things people have made, like battleships and airplanes and robots! Those must have taken hours and hours! And you don't have to just use paper. I make hair bows and things by folding cloth.

Pen pals - that is the perfect term for it and it made me laugh. Yes. Just so. Shall we begin a correspondence? If you are amenable, I will select a page nearly fifty pages from the end of the journal and we can begin there.

Would that entertain you, Doctor?
redcinemareel: (Grell: ...you're kidding me.)

[She's...just going to continue writing, but she'll definitely note the similar accent.]

So be it.

Now, what of my other suggestions?
redcinemareel: (Grell: righteous indignation)

How do I have your guarantee that you'll perform it?

We're all sailing on the ocean, right? Maybe fishing!

You can ask the doctor and my other shipmates.

You have a better guarantee of that than of me telling a truth, eh. Besides, if I want to keep the game going, wouldn't I have to try to win at least?
