Do you know what's IN seawater?

Last I checked, kraken and death. Why?

And bacteria, and sealife waste, and salt. Seawater is a lot harder on the skin than fresh water due to salt content alone.

Eh? It isn't? But what else could I do and I make sure that there is no one around.

Seawater is filthy. I hope you at least boil it off, first.

Fresh, running water from streams and stuff is usually alright. Lots of natural filters, and the motion keeps things from stagnating. With oceans, you you have to imagine that they team with life. Tons of life, all hunting, eating, shitting, and mating. All the time.

Plus salt water dries out your skin terribly. You should at least boil it. In my time, most modern ships have systems to desalinate and sterilize seawater.

Given the technology level we're workin' with, that's about all you can do. That, or collect fresh water for the trip.
