[This post is filtered to the crew of the Shepherd and is viewable by Dirk Strider]

Greetings,

I would like to speak to the captain of the Shepherd or the first mate if he/she is unavailable. It has come to my attention that this crew has the reputation of hunting any of us that engage in piracy. As myself and my crew are all recent arrivals, I would like clarification.

I have learned that piracy has different defining characteristics depending on what world a person is from. As I am not looking to create unnecessary conflict between my crew and any others on the sea with us, I would really like to know what your definition of piracy is.

Thank you.

Ihrie
First Mate, Sinewave

[She can be diplomatic when needed.]

Captain Horatio Hornblower

This sentiment may have been expressed before, but I have, then, missed it.

Does anyone know whether this month, as I understand has been so in others, individuals like ourselves will be forced into this place? If they will, where will they arrive? Where we did, ourselves? And where people who consider us, and those like us, the enemy?

If that is the case, what will become of those new arrivals? What I have heard about the navy here, and what I know of navies in general, would suggest they will not look kindly on pirates falling into their midst, nor will they consider ignorance any excuse or worthy of a pardon.

Is there anyone willing to attempt some manner of rescue for our fellows, should they need it?

H Hornblower

[He isn't a revolutionary, but he can see a gross miscarriage of justice for what it is. He has been in a navy prison, and it's a fate he doesn't wish on anyone. Especially if this navy is anything like the Spanish.]

[He doesn't really care about it, or about what other ships do. But there may be someone out there who cares and who would heed some advice. After all, they were all warned about Isla Empieza being taken by the Navy.

The text comes in the early hours of the day, when it's still night.]

If when Isla Empieza's lockdown was announced, you were among the ones who thought that you wouldn't head there until the lock was lifted: Do not come close to an island named Nuevo Empieza if it ever appears in your maps.

If not, be my guest to go there and have fun.

[By getting ambushed when you least expect it, that is. There's a long pause before more words appear.]

Does anyone know where can I get blue and yellow paint? Aside from Isla Empieza, that is.

[There is a little someone that he kidnapped the moment it arrived to the ship and for whom he has some plans.]

The Tenth Doctor

[It's been a day or so since the battle and the Doctor has had time to calm down and get his head together. Everyone is relatively alright, sure, and the Navy fortress has been reduced to a smoldering heap by Ace, Ikki, and his own inventions. But he's got a few thoughts about all of this, and as usual he's not terribly good at the whole staying quiet thing.]

Right, so, I've got a bit of a question. Aside from the whole...stereotypical law thing...does anyone know exactly why the Navy of this world is out to get us? Most of us aren't really out to overthrow governments, steal things, and plunder ships.

'Course, that doesn't seem to matter much, does it? No, not really. And it sort of makes one wonder what sort of nonsense assumptions they're working under. At least, it does me.

Anyway. Guess that's a moot point for me. [His voice gets a bit colder.] Magnets, it seems, are a wonderful tool for causing all kinds of mayhem with their forts. So, I guess if any of you listening to this are Navy types, I'd appreciate it if you'd not give me cause to come up with something new. Next time I won't be so forgiving.

[And it softens again as his warning is delivered.]

Oh, right. And also if anyone knows where I can find a few well polished bits of quartz, well...I need them for a bit of a project.

[And with that random barrage of information, the Doctor closes the book, apparently already distracted by something else.]

Captain Marvelous
Okay, so here's the thing.

As that Hornblower guy pointed out, every month people arrive at the same time. No reason to think it's gonna be any different now.

Everyone always appears at the same place.

Right now? Anyone who comes in is going to be wading face first into a firing squad.

I don't like it.

If I see something I don't like, I wreck it.

So, I'm going to do something about it.

If enough of you DON'T want to, I'll find some other way of getting on that island and getting people off that's not going to put this ship in the crossfire. If you all DO want to kick around some of these assholes though, then we need to figure out how we do it without getting sunk ourselves.

I might be Captain, but I'm new to this ship. I'm not expecting you to stick your necks out for me, or anyone else, yet.

But we've got a long road ahead, and we won't get very far on it if we spend all of it hiding. Plus, if any potential help we could get gets constantly stuck on an island crawling with those bastards, that's going to put us in a bind eventually anyway.

Whether you want to be or not, we're labeled as pirates. I say we give 'em reason to worry about that label.
