[He's going to regret this later, but there's a bunch of excitedly high-pitched chirps like a bird singing a love song.]

[That's okay. It matches the background sounds.]

[But FAR more embarrassing is the scribbles he makes into the journal:]

[And then in big bold colorful levels Marco makes sure to add:]

[Yeah. He's kind of lost it.]

Thatch is more fragile than he looks. I assume it comes from his size.

[She's only half joking with all this. It's an outlet she hasn't had in a while. Not in a couple of months, at least.]

Although I still think you should tie him up so he can't escape, but that might just be revenge for an old thing. [It is, actually.]

[Besides Thatch and Ace were both messing with his head about Robin and so then he bolted and now he hasn't spoken to her for a month as he tries to figure out his game plan.]

[And he holds up a hand.] I'm only okay as far as setting Ace up. Details are too much, and Thatch used to take the brat out all the time to pick up girls and then they both expected me to clean up their messes, so I know a little more than would be normal about this to begin with.

Like I said, I know Thatch doesn't prefer much on rough and wild. [Marco has some theories on why, but most of the real ones he won't voice, even as crazy mode as he is. Other than the size thing which is just gentle teasing.]

And Ace is still figuring some things out.

[Rubs his temple with knuckles.] It's... complicated. A whole phoenix, human, bird, brothers... thing. And I only got to have Ikki as a brother here recently. [WHICH IS YET ANOTHER HEADACHE.]

[Maybe he will just go back to the forest and make a bed of flowers and eat them.]

Eh, really? I'm almost disappointed. [NOT REALLY. He's clearly amused. And a little reassured, since it means he doesn't have to worry about his brothers as much. Granted he always worries, ALWAYS, but still. Every little bit counts.]

[And Chandra you should know how freaking WEIRD that is. Marco is Mr. Deadpan. NOT Mr. Facially expressive who gives away clues ever.]

She has. I've never met him, but...I've heard some of the story. Not sure I want to, at this point.

[There's a lump in his throat and he shakes his head.] Ikki didn't have Thatch to help him learn how to deal with people. Not an excuse, again. He's giving it his best, but we tend to mirror each other. Him and I. So I might have pushed him too far too fast and Selphie...

[He bites his cheek in thought, looking off in the distant. They really DID mirror each other too much. Marco's worst traits, and Ikki's worst. But at least Thatch had always been there to smooth over Marco's failings and--]

He's not as heartless as you might think. [Marco gives Chandra a deep serious look, easily the most serious he's been all day, even with emotions and temper ping-ponging like a rubber ball everywhere.] And no matter what you think, he's a lot more hurt than anyone knows. [Selphie wants to throw herself on it like a bandage, but sometimes even that takes insane amounts of time. And for someone like Marco or Ikki where time is already stretched out and confusing, rushed and confusing, it became overwhelming.]

[He blinks and shakes his head, snapping out of it again.] Ah, sorry. Not that you have to meet him if you don't want to, eh.

[How do you stop someone from getting hurt? Sometimes they'll be hurt no matter what.]
