2nd Codex | Audio
[Altaïr was unaware that the journal in his pocket had activated somehow, that it was transmitting for all the sound of it smacking against wood as he steadily made his way up the mast of the ship he now called home. Over the rhythmic thuds and the sound of the wind blowing, Altaïr's voice could faintly be heard. And if one knew Arabic, they were in for quite a treat.
Curses upon the ship were tumbling from his mouth, the vast majority of which we're wishing catastrophe upon the ship. He was NOT enjoying himself at the moment, but it was necessary for him to acquaint himself with his new surroundings.]

action:
No. Wait. There. Mast. Really, really high.
Holy shit.
Holy shit.
She'll wait until he comes down, but she's standing there, eyes wide and a grin on her features.]
That is so awesome. Seriously. How do you guys do that? How do you have that good of balance?
[She can do it... at night. When vampyric instinct takes over.
But that doesn't count as her being able to do it.]
action:
I was taught the basics at a young age and have continued learning. In my village, it is not uncommon for us to travel across rooftops using such methods.
action:
[Swearing? Lots of swearing! Twenty-first century youth. What can you do about them?
Nothing. The answer is "nothing."]
That is so cool. No one where I'm from can do anything like that.
[Not during the day, at least, and that was what counted.]
Action:
It is not impossible to learn if you are determined.
[Its not an offer, but with time it may become one. ]
There must be some in your land capable of similar feats.
Action:
Action:
[He tries to place the word, tries to understand what it means in context, but isn't able to figure it out.]
Action:
["Vampire." Okay. Well.]
Supernatural creature. Looks human but is faster, stronger. Elongated canine teeth, drinks blood.
Action: (Sorry this took so long, i was ill :(
He's just going to stare at you in confusion for a moment before speaking.]
I have never heard of such a thing.
Action: (No worries! I completely understand!)
[Which is weird. Very weird. But, hey, this kind of thing happens, Alex figures.]
Action: (Thx. I feel bad that RL keeps me away so often. Apparently I can't have nice things.)
[He's mostly thinking tactics in case she turns out to be a threat, but also, potential sparring partner.]
action;
What on earth was he doing? She wanted to call up, but she knew that wouldn't be the best idea to so incase he would fall or soemthing. So she waited, tray in hand for them to come down.]
What exactly were you doing?
[It concerned her never the less, but she guessed he knew what he had been doing before.]
action;
Familiarising myself with this vessel; this was not my preferred way of travel back home. If I am to call it home, I wish to know more about this thing.
action;
[Although she herself was use to being on ships for days to weeks at a time herself.]
It must be very confusing for you all of this and I'm sorry you got brought into it as well.
action;
[And the sting of his blades.]
action;
[But she wondered why they didn't show themselves, it wasn't exactly trusting if they were meant to be looking for something for someone but didn't even see them.]
Anyway, it' nice to meet you. I'm Lenalee. I'm the cook of this ship, so if you ever want something to eat before meals, just let me know.
action; (Sorry this took so long, I got sick then other things cropped up.)
It is a pleasure Lenalee, I am Altaïr. And I shall call upon you if your services are needed.
action; (It's fine)
If there anything you don't eat? Just so I know.
[voice]
You don't sound too happy there, man. Want to slow down and repeat that last sentence? ((Okay he might be taking notes.)) What language are you speaking anyway?
[voice]
It takes him a moment to remember that the Journal he'd been given can send voices as well as the written word, and he fishes it out of his robes. Sure enough, it was working.]
What I said is not worth repeating. Nor is it to be used in any sort of company. The language is called Arabic. [Or at least that's what the Crusaders called it.]
[voice]
Yeah, I figured they weren't worth repeating, but it's still good to expand your vocabulary, right?
[voice] Sorry this took so long! I got sick :(
I will not teach it though; using such language in my village would result in a beating from the guards.
action
You can aquatint yourself with the rigging on a day that doesn't have strong gusts.
Action
Would it not be better to learn under harsh conditions? If I only knew how to climb in calm situations, the skills would do me no good during emergencies.
voice;
voice;
voice;
So why were you being such a grump before? Did you get hit by lightning or something?
voice; (Sorry this took so long, i got sick :(
I lost my balance while climbing. The rocking of the ship from the waves was harsher up here than I expected. It almost threw me from my perch.
voice;
Why were you climbing, anyway? At least tell me that had a fun reason!
voice;
I was wanting to adjust to the rocking of the waves. This is not a form of transport I am used to. [Give him a horse any day.]
voice;
I'm sure that'll happen to you too eventually! ...Probably!
