Fourth Rose: Attack on Candies [Audio]

[Suddenly there is a lot of commotion going on and things fall over or get knocked into. The sound of metal coming in contact with…something can be heard. The contact sounds pretty small, but there is someone who sounds pretty frustrated by it all.]

Damnit-- [That sound of metal ringing can be heard again.] Why aren't you--

[He gets cut off, but this time there is choking and coughing to be heard and the person seems to have bumped into something. The coughing and wheezing continues for a while.]

Damn candies...

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

[While he waits for her return, he sits on his bed, glad that the candies have flown away. What the hell were they about, anyway?!]

[When Selphie comes back, she has that jug of flowers in water, finding it ironic that she remembered about them after he reminded her to put the roses into them. Water is water, so he drinks the water without complaining, taking the roses out at least. Feeling relieved, Aya puts them back, catching his breath now that his throat isn't clogged.]

Thank you. [He wipes the sweat from his forehead.]

*Selphie plonks herself next to him on the bed, eyeing him carefully with concern. At least the water hasn't had the chance to go mouldy, nor had she put in any flower food, so it was all safe. She frowns until he speaks, then she gives her own smile and sigh of relief. She might have killed him once, but this time looks like she's saved him*

You okay now?

*She takes another look around the room before back to Aya*

What the hell was that? Magical flying candy?

[Aya nods at her question, but shrugs at the next one.]

I have no idea. It was the candy you gave me. [He looks over to her.] They just started flying all over the place... [There is a familiar urge, again, like when he hugged her and kissed her forehead after eating the other two candies. He's starting to put two and two together, and he was glad that they flew away, but that last one may have done something to him.]

...they aren't normal candies...

...yeah. Turns out they're not. Sorry about that. I didn't know, that day when I gave them to you. Guess that explains why I was acting so weird that day.

*She does look a little embarrassed by this, and she scratches lightly at her flushed cheek*

But they're gone now. Where to, I dunno. But things should be more normal round here. Maybe.

[Aya groans at the news, wishing he knew that earlier. The urge was getting stronger the more he was putting it off. He looks to the side before standing and pacing around, running a hand into his hair.]

I just swallowed one...

Oh...

*She's about to ask if he feels okay, if swallowing the candy hurt, but when he starts to pace around like that she realises that a sore throat probably isn't his main problem right now*

Oh! Right! Okay. I should leave then...

*Whatever candy he swallowed, she knows it means he'll be acting out of his own free will, so she jumps up to her feet, reaching to pick up her weapon from the bed*

[The urge is getting too strong, and upon pacing back towards her, Aya finds himself bumping into her, not expecting her to be standing. With her so close, the will to close the gap between them is fulfilled, and he bends down to kiss her. It goes slowly, as written on the candy; 'slow kiss'.]

*The moment his lips touch hers, she knows she's too late about leaving. Expecting it to be a quick peck, she remains still, like waiting for a bee to fly by. But this is slow, and she finds herself returning the kiss ever so gently, nothing touching him other than her lips*

[The kiss continues for a bit longer, but Aya is surprised that she's reacting back to it. He expected to get punched for it, since that would be the only way to end it earlier. Once the urge to fulfill the message dissipates, Aya pulls away, looking embarrassed about it.]

Selphie...I'm...I didn't mean... [He gives her some space, because that's probably what's needed at the moment.]

*The last time she was kissed, it ended with her being pushed away, and a look of something like confusion, and revulsion. Given that Aya has kissed her because of the candy, she figures the result will be the same, so her eyes are already on the floor, giving a tiny shrug as she speaks up with a slow, dark voice*

That's okay. It was the candy. But it's gone now. So you don't need to worry.

*Still without looking up, and feeling rather pink, Selphie makes a turn for the door*

[That...isn't a very normal reaction to have. Usually one expects anger or even a reciprocation, but this is...strange. Aya is confused by it.]

What's wrong? [Besides being kissed by someone who isn't your boyfriend.]

*No, not a normal reaction, but then that wasn't a normal kiss under normal circumstances. She takes a small breath and finally looks back up at him, shyly pointing at the door*

Nothing. I just figured you probably want me to leave right now...

[Nothing about this was normal, indeed. Aya looks to the door, then to her.]

Only if you want to. I'm not going to force you to leave. You didn't do anything wrong...

*Her eyes finally meet his, then, her blush rapidly disappearing as she pales*

I didn't eat any candy.

[Aya's brows came together in confusion at her statement.]

I'm not sure what you mean--

[And then he realizes what she means.]

...oh...

[Sorry, he doesn't know what to say about that part just yet. But after a while he says what makes the most sense.]

I didn't mean to make things complicated for you... [He sighs, because this is a right mess he has gotten himself into.]

*At his realisation, Selphie immediately hangs her head again. She's not sure what to say about it either, or what she thinks about it. All she knows is that she seems to have a habit of messing things up for herself*

Please - don't say that. You really didn't.

*Then comes a very strange, forced laugh, because this is all just hilarious of course*

Looks like I do that for myself!

I...didn't?

[The laugh throws him off. He doesn't see anything funny at the moment. Was she okay?]

I don't understand...

*Definitely not okay, and she gives him a look that suggests that she doesn't understand at all either. Suddenly feeling rather warm, she motions towards her throat*

Y'know, I probably, like, accidentally swallowed a candy, ya know, when I came in the room. Just, swallowed, by mistake...

Then...why weren't you choking?

[He choked easily on an entire heart candy. Even if a piece got tossed into her mouth unexpectedly, wouldn't she have reacted?]

Oh! Well, that's because I noticed it after I'd gone to get the water for you. It was kinda stuckin my throat but I had a quick drink of the jug water before I got back here. One or two quick gulps and then it was all fixed. Like what happened with you.

*Her eyes are on the roses the entire time she says this, gesticulating widely to make her story seem more authentic*

It's not nice. Choking on those things.

[Aya really didn't like being lied to, and it shows on his face. The story is pretty good, though, but it needs improvement. Didn't they just work on trust issues? Were they going to have to start from scratch?]

Why are you lying to me? [Was she not being truthful with him before during that time he was out in the boat?]

*Of course she realises that this isn't fair. She's not sure if Aya needs to build his trust with the entire crew or just herself, but given what she's put him through she knows that lying really isn't the best way forward. So levels her eyes with his and speaks with plain honesty*

Because. Because you kissed me and even though it was the candy, I don't understand why you aren't mad at me, or trying to get me out of your sight. And because I didn't eat any candy. Not at all. But I kissed you back anyway, if only just a tiny little bit. And that's wrong because I have... I have a something with a someone who hasn't spoken to me in days. And the kiss felt nice and that isn't fair to anyone for me to admit that, not fair to you or me or him. And that is why I lied. Because actually it was ten times easier to lie than tell the truth.

*Her voice cracks a little at the end, but her open and honest, and somewhat pained expresaion hasn't changed*
