It's the first time I've ever heard of something like this.

Are all the books in this world the same?

[Weirdness aside, Nami has had a bit of time to digest what's happened to her. She does not like being stripped away from her quest, not at all. Saving her entire race is pretty important, you know. But considering what she's learned of the Piedra Roja so far, what comes next seems easy enough.]

Anyways, my name is Nami and humans know me better as a mermaid. I've never actually been part of a crew, or had much reason to use a boat, but I know how to work with a team and I'm pretty comfortable in the ocean. I can harm and I can heal, like the seas themselves.

[It's kind of where she lived for most of her life, after all.]

I'm not really looking for anybody in specific, but if anyone out there has heard of a "moonstone"...

[Nami stops talking for a moment.]

It's really important that I find one.

[Unlikely that she'll get anything out of that, but she may as well try.]

Ahhh, really? I understand that much. I was surprised when we went to Fishman island and people hid from us most of the time. I didn't realize they were worried about humans walking around until Namur gave me a whiff of the story.

[Admittedly, he was a bit hurt, but he realized it all made sense that they would be worried about humans, when humans were literally the source of nearly all their problems.]

But, you don't gotta worry about that with us. So--wanna sail with us, miss?

I can see why they'd act like that. We're pretty different to each other, right down to where we live in. But it sounds like it was all cleared up.

[So you know, that's cool, and stuff.]

What's your group like?

Nah, everyone's gonna wanna fight each other all the time. You can make friends with who you want, but at least one guy's always gonna wanna be a danger to 'em. That's why we don't make a big deal out of it.

[He paused to think.]

As for my crew, I dunno. We've got a lotta different people and they all act differently, but I'm happy with them.

Though, I don't think that matters all the time. We're a bunch of people who'll fight for one another and above all else--with me as your captain, we won't lose to anybody.

I've never been a fan of losing, and you're already a nicer guy than the other pirate I know. [And not asking why his Roger is so Jolly.]

Hey, do you and that Namur guy know each other?

Ah, yeah! Namur's one 'a my commanders! He's in charge of teachin' a lot of our rookies along with Thatch.

Why, is he hittin' on you?

Maybe a little bit...

He just seemed really happy to have a mermaid here and was talking about wanting me to join up with him. But I guess if he's with you, then that makes this choice a lot easier than I thought.

Ahhh, it's 'cause he's a player.

Just don't hurt his feelings, alright? I think he takes it harder than I do when he gets rejected by someone who's his type.

How did he already know that I'm his type? Unless he's just attracted to mermaids in general.
