Dear magical journal thing that I'm feeling slightly more ambivalent towards as of late even though your pages are continuously filled with useless drivel that I can't be bothered to read,

I recently acquired a broom.

It's not as good as my Nimbus back home, but it'll do.

If anyone on my crew needs me — ha — check the skies.

P.S. I also purchased some chocolate frogs but one of them seems to have gone missing. Do feel free to alert me if you hear any out of place ribbits on board, but really, they've usually only got one decent jump in them so he can't have gone far.

I know no other witches, and the magicians do not use such items so I know not what is considered normal in this situation.

What sort of sport requires a broom?

It's called Quidditch. You play in teams and there are three types of balls involved. It's brilliant, really, I wish I could play it here.

Well, I've only the one broom. And I didn't purchase the balls. An oversight on my part, really. I should've at least asked for a Snitch. Next time...

Also, there's that whole minor thing where some people here can't use magic and all that.

Is a broom required to play? Perhaps there are enough individuals that could use magic to participate in such festivities. As for the ball... perhaps it could be made?

Oh, well, I suppose if you wanted to play some hodgepodge imitation of the game then you could bend the rules however you like. Snitches and Bludgers are fairly specific, though, as they're balls that are enchanted to behave a certain way, so I don't know that we could replace them... Unless we play like they did centuries ago and use birds and rocks.

[Mostly thinking out loud here, almost forgetting that he's talking to someone who has no idea what these things even are.]

But people flying around however they're capable and tossing an ordinary Quaffle back and forth while attempting to score in hoops, that could be done! Muggles have similar sports anyway, I've heard. Football or something? Though, there's no flying... So it sounds boring.

Ah! I have heard of a sport where one kicks a ball into a net! It is a modern game from the outside world. I have seen others use flight while playing it.

I don't work in Quidditch supplies, so I don't know the spells. But yes, I guess it's possible.

Right, the net thing, I think that one is football. Quidditch uses three large hoops. There's supposed to be a Keeper who guards them.

That should be doable, I see no reason why we could not set such a thing up.
