[That's because it sounds like a dirge. It is a dirge, in fact. Smoker is kind of surprised he's alive now.]

[And not especially thrilled at the circumstances of it. Not that he expected anyone to hear him singing about it. He's sure as hell not waiting for nakama to save him though. That's something pirates do. And if Aokiji rescues him again.... Well... he won't. And that is why Smoker is singing the marine song Kuzan hates. So there. And now he'll try to make a post, but with the way he can't tell how well the gloves are gripping the journal or barrel, who the fuck knows.]

[Luckily enough for Smoker, there was someone on their crew that could actually swim. While Luffy is busy heroically sacrificing himself, Keimi, having jumped overboard when the fish caught Luffy, reaches Smoker's side. She wiggles her way under the much larger man's arm, securing his body against hers. She isn't sure how much Smoker is used to swimming, but Keimi is going to get him back to the boat, fast.]

[Smoker cannot swim. And indeed he's basically immobile except for the parts that she gets out of water.]

[Luckily, he's much smarter than Straw Hat though, so as soon as he realized he was going under (thanks so much pirate) he held his breath. Not that he expected to survive. He was beginning to question his levels of masochism. If he died and made it back to Davy Jones, would the ghost pirate give him a better ship or just an inner tube next time? For that matter would he get sick of his bullshit enough to give up?]

[No wait this was a ghost that apparently dragged people from other worlds or something. Not likely.]

[Anyway, Smoker's conscious once his head is above the water, so the first thing he does is grunt a quiet:] Thanks.

[Albeit somewhat reluctant because he hasn't forgotten that you're all pirates, but then he frantically looks around for Straw Hat. Sure the brat has crew and shit, but Smoker can't let him die trying to save him. That's too fucked up.]

[even with the extra weight of his swords on him, Zoro swims easily, propelling himself straight down to the sinking Luffy with a powerful breaststroke. From there it's pretty easy to hook an arm around his idiot captain and haul him to the surface.

As soon as he breaks the water, Zoro shakes the water out of his hair and continues the previously interrupted yelling]

[Keimi swims over to the side of the ship, doing her best to keep Smoker afloat.]
