4th rise of the phoenix ஜ Audio

[The first thing that is heard is the ending sound of an explosion followed by the sound of flames creeping in the background. Voices are heard, but most of them are clearly away from the journal that is accidentally recording it all. There's a lot of yelling, cries of pain mixed with ones of rage, coupled with the metallic sounds of swords being dragged and firearms being charged. Ikki's voice is heard then, closer to the journal but not speaking directly to it.]

Hn, seems that this time it's a decent sized one. They are at least well prepared with their weapons.

You two! What the hell do you think you're doing?! Do you know who are you picking a fight with?

[Several voices raise in a chorus for the man who just spoke, the pained ones drowned by the ones claiming for blood and revenge.]

Who said we're picking a fight with you. We're just here to destroy you, no one is going to miss another pirate ship.

You have some nerve rookies! Kill them!!! Let them regret it when they meet Davy Jones!!

I really would like to meet that guy, you know. Are you done, Selphie?

[There's a huff and a sigh, closer and clearer than any other sound as Ikki steps forward and the pirates start attacking. Selphie's voice then can be heard clearly indicating that she's the one holding the journal open.]

On my way! So much for touching base with the crew.

[The last words, albeit heard are obviously muted and soon followed by a loud thud as the journal falls. The sound of quick steps joins the battling sounds that now fill the area and a cracking noise can be heard as Selphie conjures up a thundara spell.]

[30 minutes later or so...]

[The sounds of battle are still going on in the background when Selphie's voice sounds directly to the journal again.]

Hi. Spades. It's Selphie. I know... that some of you might..never want to see me again but I'm - I'm sailing around with Ikki some. We'll be heading back soon... So yeah, in case anyone was worrying about him, he's here with me. And he's fine.

(ooc: Replies will come from both Selphie and Ikki! If you want only one of them just state so in the subject!)

[Hearing Selphie's words makes Ikki pause to look at her.]

What? You still hadn't done that? I asked you if you were done!

[Two pirates charge to him only to get his hands on their faces before he knocks them together, causing them to promptly fall unconscious.]

Well, yeah, but -

*She groans and her legs buckle as a sneaky pirate appears behind her, kicking at her knee then her ankle. She spins round and smacks him hard on the head with her weapon, wincing as she watches him drop*

But then you nust went and attacked without waiting!

*Not that she didn't think he couldn''t handle himself, but if something had happened to him while she was chatting on the journal, she wouldn't be able to forgive herself, and she was struggling enough with that as it was*

So I had to come help!

You could have leave me to get started on my own and join right after!

[A pirate manages to reach Ikki and swing his sword, unfortunately for him Ikki's running high on Cosmo and wearing his Cloth while the pirate doesn't possess any form of actual spirit. The sword is stopped with one hand, the metal cracking and crumbling under the pressure of his fist before Ikki punches the terrified expression of the pirate, sending him flying backwards.

Another pirate attacks from behind, managing to slash Ikki's side before getting elbowed. The Saint doesn't let him fall or stumble, though, quickly reaching to grab his head and throw it over his shoulder towards the front, right into two other pirates.]

I told you to just drop a word that we would be heading back soon, how long does that take?

Yeah, right. And leave you to get slashed up by scummy pirates?

*She says this after she notices he's been slashed. Selphie lets out a scream of anger, and rushes towards the offending pirate, but Ikki deals with him before she even gets there. Scowling, she closes in at his side, reaching her hand out to gently touch him. She'd cast a cure spell, but she doesn't like to cast that kind of magic on him without permission, flashing back to when she tried to heal those gun shot wounds he had*

Need healed?

*Selphie just gives him a huffy look - fortunately, she's a woman used to following commands and being told what to do, so she's not as annoyed with him as she could be*

Fine! I'll go so that right now! But you better not get cut!

[What is she talking about? It takes Ikki a moment to realize that he has been slashed, a thin trail of blood running down his side. Hardly something painful or worrying. But then there she is, touching the area and asking him if he needs to be healed.]

Do you really need to run to me for every scratch I get? Heal it if you want, it's your energy.

[His tone is soft, almost tired. And slightly disappointment, because while he gets that she worries for him... She really shouldn't. Not before much less now, not just because the wound is ridiculous but because of everything he has made her go through. But she keeps insisting and he's starting to run out of patience to keep arguing, which leaves him to just nod and let her do as she pleases.

At her last words he just waves a hand before using said hand to launch an attack at some pirates.]

Yeah, yeah, don't distract yourself with idle chatter and it should be okay.

*That shuts her up in an instant, physically biting her lip to make sure she doesn't say anything else. She just looks at him, her expression a mixture between sadness and confusion, and some anger too. She just doesn't seem to know how to respond. While she should really heal him, she's frightened that if she does he'll just get angry with her. If she's honest with herself, she'd rather poke her fingers in his wound and give it a twist, just to make it hurt more.

Choosing not to do that, Selphie just watches him turn back to what he's doing and slowly makes her way down to the dropped journal*

Hi. Spades. It's Selphie. I know... that some of you might..never want to see me again but I'm - I'm sailing around with Ikki some. We'll be heading back soon... So yeah, in case anyone was worrying about him, he's here with me. And he's fine.

*Because she doubted anyone was worried about her right then. Selphie sighs as she closes the journal. It was the first communication she's had with the others since...everything. Maybe that was what had taken her so long in the first*

[He's not looking at her and her reaction to his words, he had tried to not be too harsh... But it's hard to not be so when she's basically worrying over something that could be a mere papercut. Why was it so hard for her to get it? When he had been seriously wounded, enough to need help, or at least enough that it wasn't stupid to get help, he had gone to her. Why couldn't she just get it?

And then he actually hears what she's saying. Not all of it but enough to get an idea. And it makes him curse under his breath as he makes his Cosmo explode sending all the pirates on the deck flying away, most of them manage to stay on the ship, even if unconscious or a little dizzy, just enough to keep them away for a bit before they resume the attacks. Then Ikki stalks to where Selphie is and grabs one of her wrists.]

Can I know what the fuck makes you think they would worry more about me than about you??

*At the other end of the ship, Selphie has her back turned to Ikki. Maybe not the smartest move if any pirates made an appearance, but that's where she is. She'd heard the tiredness in Ikki's voice, and wondered if he was already regretting inviting her on this trip. That, and the way he'd reacted after that kiss on the other ship, it wasn't painting a pretty picture.

With his journal closed, Selphie was about to carry it back to Ikki, but she drops it again when he grabs her wrist. In fact, she is so startled by the movement that for a second she thinks she's been caught by a pirate*

What? Ikki, what is wrong with you? I don't even know what you're talking about. I just said that the others might be worried. What's so bad about that? Last anyone knows you left to go storm a fortress. No one's seen you since. They'll be worried.

*She spoke quickly at first, trying to pull her wrist back from him, but soon her speech slowed down, as she spoke it to their feet rather than anything else, looking at the closed journal on the floor between them*

And last they knew about you, you were trapped in that fortress with no intention of leaving. If they would be worried about someone, that would be you.

[He doesn't let go of her wrist, neither lets her stare at their feet for long before he uses his free hand to make her look up.]

Do you really think that those idiots aren't going to realize that you weren't yourself back then? That you were being controlled? Ace was taken as well, if anyone dared to say anything to you he would have their head first!

Okay, okay. Maybe they're worried about us both. Is that better? They can be worried about us both.

*Selphie does her best not to look at him for a good few moments, but she does eventually, holding his gaze as he spoke, her voice wobbling ever so slightly when she replies*

Fine. Fine. Whatever. Okay. I just - I can't expect everyone to wanna be my friend when I get back. That's all.

*And she starts to tug again, trying to pull her wrist away, trying hard enough this time that it hurt*

[Yeah, no, not letting her go. Instead, he grabs hold of her shoulder as well to still her movements, giving her a serious and deep look.]

Do you love me?

[Not the kind of question one would expect from a frowning, serious looking guy while in the background people who want their blood are trying to get a hold of themselves to charge again.]

*Selphie freezes when he holds her shoulder, deciding that it's definitely much easier not to move. She blinks in surprise at his question, her own voice serious and scared*

Yes.

*That's all she's going to say, because... This is all too strange for her and she's not sure what else to say besides. So it's simple, and one word only, but it's clear that she means it*

Back then you weren't yourself. You were being controlled by someone else, against your will. I wasn't. If after all I made you go through you can still love me, why wouldn't they find it in themselves to want to be your friends?

[His tone is serious but calm.]

There's only one who should have problems with you and if he does I'll kill him before he has the chance to even glare at you. Understood?

*Her lips move soundlessly for a moment - really, the difference was a huge one, as far as she was concerned. She loved him, and that was easier to remember and come back to than some of the friendships she had with the Spades, in a way. But Ace forgave her, that much she knew, so he was right. She lowers her eyes again but looks up in fright at his last comment - one, she hated knowing that Ikki knew what she had done, but second -*

You can't! Please - don't! You can't! Already it's... too much.

*Selphie has grown quite pale at the thought, her voice only a frightened whisper*

If he picks a fight with you, he picks a fight with me. Anyway, he returned to the ship on his own accord, and with Ace having been possessed as well, there's no way in Hell he could expect the crew to turn their backs to you. If he has a problem with it, he knows the way out.

[Ikki's not moved by her reaction in any way, and it's quite clear what his ideas and intentions are if worst came to happen.]

Everyone else is fucking returning to their crews and being welcomed. The Spades aren't going to be different.

*Selphie, still with her head bowed, just nods her head slowly in agreement. There's no sense challengng this, and she knows that he can be as stubborn as she can - that's what makes them such a cute couple, after all*

Okay...Okay.

*She takes a deep breath, her shoulders tightening beneath his hands - she just really hoped that it wouldn't come to whatever it was that Ikki was suggesting he'd do. She just wants everything to be back to normal...*

Curse you monsters!! Do you really think that you can have some romantic moment after beating us??

[The yell is full of rage and is soon followed by other people screaming for their blood. When Ikki turns the pirates have finally recovered and are resuming the battle, he lets go of Selphie to face them.]

And here I thought you would be smart and just abandon the ship.

I'll bath in your blood!!!

*Selphie screws her eyes tight shut when she hears the pirate shouting. She is so over this, and feels so drained, emotionally, that it's a struggle for her to get her head back into fight mode. Rolling her eyes and her shoulders, she turns towards them, nunchaku at the ready*

You'll bath in THIS!

*And instead of the blood they mentioned, they have Selphie's spell instead. The men are caught in a bubble of water and dropped hard against the deck, and she follows it up with a thundara spell, just as a little bonus extra pain for them*

[Ikki was about to charge, but with Selphie already lashing spells he actually... Stops again to watch her go. It's always a spectacle after all.]

*And, really, she seems quite happy to be left to it, pulling different spells one after the other as groups of pirates tried to advance towards her. She was casting her spells at random, and the pirates seem distracted and confused about which she's going to use on them. There the sound of a gunshot or two, aimed at her, but they don't seem to cause any problems. Just yet*

[Yeah, he loves to see her go wild, but when he hears those gunshots he frowns. No, he doesn't want his girl getting bullets in her body, thank you.

It doesn't take him long to find those with firearms. A flash of light and a trail of fire raises when he moves towards them.]

It's not nice to shot at a lady.

[The last thing the pirates see is Ikki's sadistic smirk before he burns them alive right there, their screams filling the air and adding a note of terror to their companions. A few of which actually finally get the hint and jump overboard towards the sea.]

M-Monsters... You're really monsters!!

*For a moment, Selphie allows him to take over and she stops, staring at the burning. She wonders if that's what she looked like when he had burned her alive. She isn't sure now what she actually remembers and what she imagines, but still she's drawn to the image of the burning pirates. Eventually, though, she's sure that a bit of optimism is probably the best thing in these scenarios, so she allows a soft smirk to creep over her face*

Hear that? We're monsters.

*She moves closer to Ikki in a manner than might be quite creepy if it weren't for the fact that, for Ikki at least, she's just playing along, tiptoeing and baring her teeth, raising a hand like a claw*

The hottest monsters you'll ever see!

Tsk, we're not even the worst guys of our crew.

[He actually smirks as he sees her act, hands letting go the charred corpses that fall with a deaf noise. His attention then returns to the remaining pirates.]

You guys should feel lucky, you're so weak that you lost all your chances at getting anywhere in this world the moment the Spades arrived. You gotta thank that to Davy Jones, he was the one who brought us here.

What the Hell is that supposed to mea- ?!!!

[Before the captain pirate finish what he was going to say, Ikki's already with him, grabbing his head with a hand. Digging his fingers in the man's hair and smashing his face with his palm. Ikki is still smirking when he speaks, eyes gleaming with fire as he looks at the rest of the pirates.]

I think it's time you guys learn how much of monsters we are. As for your question... You can ask that to Davy Jones when you see him, and while you do it, give him regards from the Spades.

[The captain screams, raising his hands to try to defend himself, to pull away Ikki's hand, his feet start kicking as the other raises his body higher. From a bystander's point of view nothing is happening, but the screams of the captain keep getting louder and more terrified, as the hands and legs kick and punch and scratch more and more desperately. Ikki's extender arm palpitates, his muscles tensing more and more together with the screams, all the while, as he smirks and looks at the others.

After a few agonizing seconds that could feel like minutes, the captain let's go a scream louder than any before, it's high-pitched and almost inhuman full of terror and desperation. However, it's cut short by a sickening cracking noise following by a louder crumbling one. Blood starts to flow and fall from the head and Ikki's arm, quickly forming a poor under the captain who goes automatically still, limbs hanging lifelessly. The cracking noise continues before it's replacing by a squishing sound, time by which Ikki let's go of the corpse which crumples over the ground, the head having effectively been crushed open like a nut. he makes it fall so that the pirates can see the result of his work and the worst part of it isn't facing Selphie. His hand is covered with blood and a strange goo-like texture and he keeps it high in the air for everyone to see.]

Do you get it now?

*Selphie still seems to appear chirpier on the outside than she really feels, also pleased by Ikki's smirk, and hoping that all of this can just go on, they can do what they need to do, and then be done. But then she sees the way that Ikki's fingers attack that pirate's skull, and any attempt to look like everything is okay vanishes.

The terror in that pirate's voice shocks and unnerves Selphie immediately, and she suddenly feels the need to be sick. She has no real idea what Ikki is doing to that man, but it is quite clearly torture. Covering her mouth with a hand, she does her best not to make a noise. Not that any of the pirates are paying attention to Selphie at this point, but just in case, it wouldn't do well if they thought that one of the 'monsters' was so weak. Carefully, Selphie steps back from the scene. Still trying to hide how she's feeling, she rushes to crouch down behind some barrels. Once she's there, she covers her ears with her hands, pushing her palms hard against them to be sure that she hears as little of the screaming as possible. Her eyes are screwed tight shut, and she'll just remain there, hiding, terrified, as long as need be*

[Ikki feels, rather than see, Selphie's reaction behind him, but he does nothing to go with her or anything. Instead, his attention remains focused on the rest of the pirates, waiting for the to finally decide what they want to do with their lives. Seeing the looks of terror satisfies him, even if he knows that he went overboard with it, but he still had too much anger inside and Selphie's little "woe is me, no one will want to be my friend" hadn't helped.

For a long moment no one seems to move until he gets tired of waiting and moves to pick up the corpse, just that sends many pirates in panic, jumping to the sea. He then throws the corpse overboard, not wanting to have it there any longer, before he gives a final look to the few that managed to survive and remain on the deck.]

So? Anyone else wants to go see Davy Jones?

[With another chorus of screams, insults and "monster"s, the remaining pirates... Jump to the sea to save their lives. Leaving just Ikki and a hidden Selphie on the deck. He decides to wait before going to fetch her, see if she will come out on her own or not.]
