Third Curse - (Drawings + Voice, backdated to the 18th) Possession And You
...hi. This is Zozo again. I know there's a lot of crap going on, but...there's something I'd like to explain. I've heard some people don't much about possession, my captain included, so I'm hoping to clear some of this stuff up since I'm a necromancer.
[She pauses for a few moments as once blank page slowly beginning to be filled with what appears to be a picture in...is that crayon?]

This is me.

This is a ghost. Ghosts aren't the only things capable of possession, buuut they do tend to do it a lot so I'll use them. Ghosts can take possession of someone and get inside their head...

And make them do stuff they wouldn't normally do. A guy I know got possessed once. He hated dancing, but once he got possessed he couldn't stop. Turns out he was just drunk, though.
[Another pause.]
...where was I?
[...]
Oh, right. Possession. Living things can possess people too, but you don't actually have to eject your soul from your body to do it. Magic makes it a lot easier. It's in some ways less effective than the soul thing, but the stronger the magic the harder it is to break free. Plus you don't even need to be near the person to do it. That's why the witch has been able to possess so many people and make them go crazy.
It's also why the grip is so strong now. Since she's got some really strong magic, most people can't just force her out like they could with a ghost.
...which is why our best bet is to kill the witch. If she's dead her spell will be broken and everyone will go back to normal.
And that's it. If you have any questions I can answer them.

From what I understand, the possessions here are more like what you suggest, with the outside entity controlling actions instead of displacing the original consciousness, so the solution you suggest is most likely the correct one.
eaten again arg
If anything that one was more like this Pirate Witch than Yurisha. Though here sole must have been outside of her body because there wasn't any craft attached to the ship's hull and shooting her didn't do much.

Your pictures are very informative, by the way.

And thanks. I thought they'd help.

[ Well, more like "people like us," but. ]
... though I'm not entirely certain the witch will look quite like that.

[Congratulations, Zozo, your captain actually understood that one.]
Still, we have no way of knowing how much of their actions were their own. I don't want to see needless harm come to them, but I'll expect a full account from both of them upon their return before I decided how they're to be dealt with.
[Voice]
More like she used magic to control them, but pretty much.
...though I dunno if they'll actually remember anything once the witch is dead.

I don't suppose we can take a raincheck on the whole 'killing the witch' plan?

... OKAY ghosts part is over, he can uncover his ears, open his eyes and carry on like nothing happened.]
Magic, huh. [He's figured as much, with a witch involved and whatnot.] Not the most innovative plan you have here, Zozombie, but it should work.
[voice]
Yeah, unless the witch is immortal. Then we're screwed.
[But she kinda doubts that.]
[voice]
Well, one way to find out.
[And that's to beat the everloving shit out of her and see what happens, of course.]
