Entry 002 - Written

It has come to my attention that your crews are having difficulty with members that have been possessed by an outside influence and that you are hesitant to kill them. It is the most effective solution to the problem and you are causing unnecessary complications.

If you can't do what must be done, I offer my services.

Only a coward loses faith in his crewmates so easily.

Only a coward would put others at risk out of sentimentality.

It isn't sentimentality.

A pirate places his trust in his crewmates. They give themselves up for dead together to sail under the same flag. That's why the only true crime among pirates is killing one of your own crew.

If they're not strong enough, then they'll die, but it won't be by my hand.

Which is why I'm offering my own hand.

I will, but it seems as if no one is willing to accept that this is what needs to be done.

It can't be easy to think you have to kill your friends. Probably easier for people like us -- not really attached to anyone here, you know?

I agree. It's why I offered to do it in the first place. It would have been simpler not to ask at all, but that would have made it difficult to find a crew willing to work with me after this situation is resolved.

Yeah. It's probably better long-run to announce the offer.

If killing one of the possessed will ensure the safety of an entire crew, then it's the most efficient way to deal with the issue. There's no guarantee the operation to storm the fortress will succeed and it is likely it won't if your crew's effectiveness is lowered by injury and demoralization.

What are you, a robot?

If you're talking about demoralisation, then perhaps you should consider the psychological effects of having a friend killed. Then extend that by having that friend killed by your own hands, or by proxy.

Like I said, it's possible to subdue without killing them. And if subduing them is too hard, how exactly do you expect killing them will be any easier? Injury and demoralisation will happen either way.

Subduing them may not be difficult, but keeping them restrained and under guard is a waste of resources, especially if it's as Scurvey Dog said and there's no hope for improvement.

Injury and demoralization will occur in any scenario, but will be minimized if exposure to the possessed is limited. Grief can be a powerful motivator, as can revenge. I don't foresee any difficulties with the attack on the fortress if my plans are followed.

A life is more valuable than monetary or material resources, and to use such a thing as grief to manufacture motivation is sick.

I've noticed. If there's a method to how people were chosen to be brought here, I haven't found it yet.
