[After a rather interesting run-in with a certain witch, Chandra decides that perhaps it's time to actually use the stupid book. Not that she'd have waited too terribly long, because hell, the idea of a magic notebook is actually somewhat intriguing.

When she speaks into the recorder, there's an odd bubbling sound, and her voice is modulated strangely at first.]

Right, so. I guess this thing works. If it doesn't then I'm talking at a book like a moron.


First of all, I'm new here. My name's Chandra and apparently I'm stuck here like the rest of you. That's...a pretty new experience for me, to be completely honest and I'm not sure how to take it. But then, what can you do.

With that in mind, I guess the normal thing to do seems to be finding some people to sail with and find this weird gem, and I guess that's the next order of business. I'm a Task Mage by trade, meaning that I do all sorts of odd jobs and I often do them with magic. Hire me on and you'll have artillery without compare. I've never found a ship, door, wall, or bad guy I can't take care of, or a mountain I can't craterize. [She pauses, laughing cheerily.] And my favorite way to destroy something is utterly, so...if you've got problems just point me at 'em and stand clear and they won't be problems anymore.

Also, I've been on a ship a few times, enough to know my way around but not enough to get into any real trouble...and if it's physical stuff you need done I'm pretty good for that too. And if I can't? One of my little buddies can take care of it. And if that's not enough, I'm also young, hot, and full of stories. Some of them not fit for children.

[She lets out a little cackle, and the modulation in her voice stops, her tone getting a little bit more serious too.]

Also, that witch that was talking about sending people home? That's a bust. Ignore her. She's just trying to steal energy or something. I destroyed the construct she's using, but I figure it'll be back later on tonight or tomorrow. Also, do yourself a favor and steer clear of the plaza for an hour or two.

Oh, and if you don't like talking over these journal things? I'll be at the bar.

Action:

[And as promised, she can be found at said bar, and never without a drink in hand.]

[She inclines her head and offers a gauntleted hand.]

Thanks for taking me on so quick. I thought there'd be an interview process or something.

[You'd think he'd be used to the handshaking by now, but he hesitates for just a moment before putting his hand in hers.]

No, I don't think anyone has ever gone through an interview process to be part of this crew. I met a guy named Sora who brought me along. Ace doesn't mind. He's the Captain. We have a large crew, so much so we have two ships now.

[She shakes, and her hand is incredibly warm, at least ten degrees warmer than it should be.]

Two of you then? And this ship is the Sun? Where's the other?

[reluctantjinrou]

This ship is the Sun. [He nods, confirming and he points to the next ship over in the port.]

That one is the Moon. We just got it. I can give you a tour of the Sun if you like.

Bought or stole?

[It's a valid question...]

And yes, that'd be great.

I believe we bought it. We had a Navy ship briefly which was stolen by Ace.

[Natsuno points upwards.]

[She can't help but smile. She's not that inexperienced...]

[Most people are, including Natsuno, no harm meant really. He gestures to a door.]

Galley's through there.

[He gestures she should follow him and starts below deck.]

Awesome. And you said the cook's good, right?

[She follows, eyeing the door.]

Thatch? Yeah, he's pretty good.

[Beneath the deck are a series of rooms. He gestures to the first one on the left.]

That's my room, I'm not sharing with anyone.

[He points to the others slowly, pointing out who is living where.]

You can pretty much choose any room you like I think.

Oh? Why not? [Chandra can't help but smile teasingly.]

Don't have a little girl that's caught your eye?

[He clears his throat a little awkwardly.]

Ah, well that's not really my thing. I also don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I'm a vampire.

[theartofboom]

[There's a brief instant where her entire body tenses, the focusing jewel on her gauntlet flaring brilliantly scarlet for a fraction of a second. A vampire? That brings back some uncomfortable memories. A plane of Black Mana, a sack over her head, a dress, and the affections of a patricidal psychopath will do that to you. Her eyes flicker too, lightening from green to a sullen orange.]

A vampire, huh? So, are you just not interested in girls?

[Her posture might say that the answer to that might be important...]

[The light is enough to make him pause.]

Although one has nothing to do with the other, no. I'm not interested in girls.

[theartofboom]

Alright. Good.

[The light immediately fades out. Those memories were strong, but common sense was stronger.]

Do you drink human blood?

[reluctantjinrou]

[He lets out a relieved sigh.]

I do drink human blood, approximately every three to four weeks. Only from people who are willing, on board here. Never the same person back to back in case they should be caused undue stress. The only thing bad that happened was Selphie fainted. I have an array of powers, mostly to do with hypnosis, most of which I can't use at any given time.

[She's crew, she's entitled to answers. He doesn't mind vampire questions, so much.]

If it makes you more comfortable, the only room I can enter down here aside from my own is Selphie's. Common rooms like the restroom not withstanding.

[Chandra listens, nodding twice, sharply. He had a right to know as well. Part of it, anyway.]

Thank you for that. I really don't mind that. I've just had a personal bad experience with a vampire king that...wanted me. I didn't want him back, and things got really, really messy. In fairness, you're nothing like him. And if you don't like girls then I doubt anything like that will happen again. It just...memories, y'know?

I should warn you though, I'm not sure if you can drink my blood. I'm not entirely human, myself.

[Natsuno snorts.]

There is something seriously wrong with vampires. No, there's nothing to be concerned about in that regard. Not to sound offensive, but I've never found girls particularly interesting.

[He nods a little. Memories indeed.]

I can't say unless I've tried it, but don't feel compelled to volunteer. It's a big crew and there are a lot of people who are willing to give their blood. I'm not a regular kind of vampire, I'm a subspecies. I can go out in the daylight, I can eat normal food and the bloodlust is pretty spread out.

Well, that's good to know. I can't say I really care one way or the other so long as it's fun, but to each their own.

[She smiles warmly, nodding.]

And I think Planeswalker blood, mine in particular, is so suffused with mana that it might be bad.

That could be so, but I don't know. Perhaps we can experiment sometime.

[What else...]

There's a lot of magic users and fighters on this crew. I'm probably the one with the least fighting experience, actually, now that I think about it. Most people are willing to help if you have questions about anything though. I don't know how long we're meant to stay here, but I've been with this crew for over four months now. Though I'm not sure where my life has taken me, it's been relatively enjoyable.

Well, there aren't many people in the Multiverse who can keep up with a girl like me. If I really get the chance to cut loose, anyway. But here I think I'll have to be a bit more careful. Ships are made of wood and all.

What sort of technology does this world have? Aside from the obvious.

[reluctantjinrou]

I don't think anyone would be too happy if you damaged the ship.

[He scratches his head thoughtfully.]

The level of technology isn't that great. This is pretty much what you're getting into. The island here has a lot of steam gadgetry, but otherwise, there's been a lot of strange vegetation things like that. I've yet to find anywhere similar to the technological level I have at home, however, you can get things you need from Backwater Brig.

Well, I never carry much more than what I've got on me. I brought some clothes though.

Is there running water onboard? Or no?

[reluctantjinrou]

There is running water. Actually the ships seem to be better than some of the things you find on the islands.

[He nods.]

Clothes are definitely a necessity. Mine have had to be replaced already, thanks to a run in with the Navy. My coat's getting stained too.

Well that's a plus. Figured we'd be roughing it and I'd have to manually heat water.
