Goodness! I've rarely seen the Mistress in such a state! Granted it's in large part due to the massive hangover but she's been mumbling under her breath for days now and sending kicks this poor Meep's way. Whatever you've done I wish you wouldn't. She becomes rather unbearable after a while. At any rate, she wanted me to tell you two things.

[though written through the journal is the faint rustle of paper]

If you haven't received your Typhoon Grips by now, you're out of luck and you'll have to buy them you-- Oh dear, ah-- you-- I can't even think of an appropriate word here. Well, best leave it to your imaginations. Cloud Islands have been released and will be floating in various directions. Instructions on how to use the Grip have come packaged with the instrument. She also wishes to note it's only one per crew, even if you should have multiple ships, and if you should lose it, replacements can come from Backwater at considerable cost.

The second item-- Oh, dear. It seems a little inflammatory. You know there is an old saying, pertaining when wars were fought on land-- there were no kinds of long distance communication and so in order to relay orders from one army to the other, messengers would be dispatched. Whether they carried good news or bad news, the best strategy was often considered not shooting the messenger whatever the news since he is but a humble porter and has no part in these...sorts of situations.

She says that she is lifting the ban on the Spades for the most part just to rub it in the face of those belonging to that-- to that-- Well suffice to say it's a pretty heavy derogatory term addressed to the captain of the Sinewave. Furthermore anyone caught helping that-- insert word here-- will be banned as well. She knows what you do, she says, she's not stupid.

Dear me, dear me. Er well this is a bit unprecedented and I am rather busy with my studies and suchlike, but I will be around for at least a short while to answer any questions you might have... well a few at any rate. I can't have her finding me doing this or...well...suffice to say it won't be particularly...pleasant.

Oh dear. Your crew is quite wonderful and I admire them greatly but I do think tweaking the Navy's nose as you have been doing is probably not the best course of action for you or the other outworlders who may have to suffer the Navy's wrath due to your er...attentions.

As to that, you'll have to ask her. I do not know and I daren't venture to guess! Not when she's in this mood. Though I'd recommend not asking her, leastways not until she's in a more...approachable state of mind. There is a lot coming up after all and we must prepare ourselves for the May winds since they always bring something...somewhat unexpected. She loathes that, you see, and it certainly doesn't help her usual temperament which is inclined toward bad moods.

A pity. I would have liked to have learned her side of the story but if that is not possible. No sense in all of us being banned is there?

Oh yes, she has quite a temper. It's not exactly subtle but perhaps you aren't very good at picking up the cues? Well regardless to say, I don't think there is anything wrong with talking to those poor people of the Sinewave, really I don't think my mistress doesn't want information to be passed to them. I won't tell if you won't but she is very clever and, as I've said, has a ferocious temper.

You and those who sail with you I believe. Her intent is clear even if her wording may be somewhat wrong. I'm not entirely sure as I don't follow your misadventures as closely as my mistress does. Sometimes I fear that's all she does but alas, there is so much to look out for, don't you agree?

I agree! But that's why I have to make things very clear. She can't ban the Sinewave from anything--the Sinewave is a boat. She has to ban the crew. Our crew has a very dignified name, and she'd better use it if she's going to taunt us properly.

Yes, well, be that as it may, particularities aside, I'm afraid, miss, you and yours will be out of the loop. For a little while at least. Well by that I mean August. Though perhaps longer if she continues to be in a foul mood. But she should feel better after the Ghost Race. I'm sure. I hope.

Yes, yes I very well could. I don't know why I do this to myself. Truly I don't. As for the job itself, well, it can be quite painful at times but there is no where else I'd rather be. My Mistress is harsh but I would follow her into the fire and back out again. If not for her, well, I would not be the Meep I am today and so whatever inconveniences, small or large, that I must endure, it is always worth it in my oft abused heart.

Meep-san, I do not believe we have been formally introduced, though I have paid close attention to yourself and your mistress's announcements, as well as the often chaotic exchanges within. I made a misstep in most recent, and fist, exchange with her and if you would be so willing to pass along my apology for such knavish actions on my part, I would most appreciate that. It would do poorly for a woman of my rank to have such poor rapport with someone like herself.

Beyond that, I do have some questions about this ghost race I've been hearing about, should you be willing to answer them. If not, I understand. You are, after all... ah, how does that saying go? Sticking your neck out for us? Yes, that one, I think.
