It feels so weird to be at this time already, back home we were just a few weeks away from Easter, but here it's December already! It's so confusing, sometimes I wonder if I should try to keep track of what date it would be back home, but I have the feeling that such a thing would only make it harder to stay here. Does anyone else have problems with the dates? What season was it when you were home?
 

I don't really understand what has happened to the weather those past days, but it seems to have passed now! The temperature is rising, and I have stopped feeling frozen inside. Is everyone else fine as well? Or is this because the volcano's heat is finally affecting me? I hope it's the first, I have never seen such a crude winter! It really made me miss my home, back there I would have spent days like those sitting near the fireplace practicing my embroidery, enjoying a warm cup of tea.

That said, I have been wondering about something. Soon, in a matter of three days, we will be on a special date back in my world. December 25th is also known as Christmas Day, a day of celebration and a holiday, and I wondered if other worlds celebrated it as well. And other times as well, that goes specially for you Mister Harlock, is there a Christmas celebration in your century yet? I'm well aware that we are not in the best circumstances for celebrations, but I think we really should try to make our time here as happy as possible, and parties are important for them! I will prepare a huge dinner at Queen's Gambit, and I have the gifts for my crewmates prepared already, those that know of this celebration, have you prepared yourselves as well?

We had Christmas as a holiday where I'm from, but it was more from the religious perspective than anything else.

[Given the Order is a religious thing.]

Really? That's how it is at home for me as well! I figured that not every world or time has to have the same religion. Even if I can't imagine Christianity falling into oblivion.

[It's the one real religion after all. Or so she has been taught.]

That's why I just focused on the most social aspects.

But religion has a great importance as well, there's no Christmas day without a Mass and prayers, it's Christ's birthday celebration after all! And while the rest of the day may be dedicated to ourselves, everyone knows that the next day is dedicated to charity and those who need our help.

The social side is one that I focus on more myself as well. I prefer celebrating with friends rather than the religion side of it. [Mostly because she isn't fond of the order so isn't overly fond of the religion. She will go to church in the order, but not often.]

I suppose it's easy for that to be the case. It feels far more engaging and rewarding to be with your family and friends, after all. I think it's like how it feels more fulfilling to help someone besides you than strangers you have never seen that are kilometers away. Anyway I don't think there are any priests around here, though, so the religious side of it will probably be something we won't be able to celebrate.

I'm not sure yet. I mean I haven't really known them all that long, so I don't know how it would be. Different probably.

I only learnt of Christmas a few months ago and yet, here it is again, huh. Thatw as fast.

Time likes to go fast pretty often, but I think that in this case the irregular timelines is mainly at fault for that!

How did you learn about Christmas?

I learnt it from a friend who originally came from Earth.

You have friends on Earth then? What's their name? Where are they from exactly? There are many countries on Earth after all.

She was on Earth, yes. It's where she lived most of her life, but not where she was born. It's complicated.


Her name however is Bloom and she is from Gardenia in America, I believe.

America! I was going there on a cruise, but things didn't go as planned. It was quite terrible and scary, a real catastrophe. I have never heard of a place named Gardenia there, but I don't know much of that country so it's natural. Have you been there? Bloom is a beautiful name! Have you known each other for long?

You went there on a cruise, huh, but what happened to make it not go as planned.

I lived there for a bit on a mission and I've known Bloom for around five years now, coming up six.

I'm not sure yet, it was pretty incredible. Despite being there sometimes I feel as if it was just a dream!

We were attacked by zombies. Corpses rising and chasing people to try to devour us. And then the ship crashed against something and began to sink! We barely were able to make it out alive, I think most of the people on the ship died.

So you have been on Earth as well! I hope we caused a good impression on you. Is Bloom a fairy as well?

[Unfortunately, she doesn't recognize the handwriting, the use of "lady" surprises her a bit, though. Not many people around here use formalities after all, it could be someone from home or one of the few people here who talk formally, but she can't tell just with that.]

I arrived a week or two ago, I can't remember the exact date. But I'm fine. I got a little lost but someone found me and let me on their ship.

I'm so relieved! I'm glad you found a ship to be on, do they treat you well?

I'm perfectly okay! Don't worry, I found Ciel not long after I arrived here two months ago and he has been taking good care of me since then! I'm terribly sorry that you're trapped here, but I'm also happy, I think Ciel will be glad as well, even if it would be better for us all to be back home.

Why thank you Miss Midford. People still celebrate Christmas in my time, in fact the holiday has been adopted by people who aren't Christian.

Is that so? I'm happy to hear that! Oh, but I guess that those who aren't Christian only take the social aspect of the festivities, is that right? Unless the way to celebrate it has changed over the years.

At my time it's both a social and a religious celebration. Dinners are celebrated, and families get together for it, gifts are exchanged as well. And on the 25th everyone attends a Mass and offers their prayers to celebrate the day. After that come visits to friends and some shopping before a final celebration dinner back home. The next day is dedicated to Charity. Are the celebrations still that way for you?
