002 - Voice (Action for crewmates)
[ It's hard to write when your fingers are freezing. After a few unsuccessful tries, Homura opts to go for a voice entry instead, keeping her teeth from chattering through sheer force of will alone. ]
This explains why the Backwater Brig's advertisement last week contained a disclaimer about anti-curse apparel. Perhaps the shopkeeper knew this unnatural cold, or something like it, was coming.
Has anyone found a way to warm up yet? The usual methods aren't working. Any information would be appreciated.
[ That's the extent of Homura's entry. Her crewmates won't find her in her usual spot in the crow's nest; instead, she's holed up in her room, cocooned in her blankets with only her face showing... for all the good that it does her. ]

[Voice] Well if you insist
Especially when you can't feel cold.]
I told you, I don't have a nervous system. My real body was stolen from me a while ago, so the one I have now is made up of corpse parts.
[Yeah, she's completely serious.]
[Voice]
[ Perhaps surprisingly, Homura has little trouble accepting this explanation, assuming Zozo's telling the truth. She comes from a world where magic and miracles exist alongside horrible Faustian bargains. More importantly, it's a world where souls can be separated from the body. ]
[ Speaking of which: ]
... this may be a strange question, but- you wouldn't happen to be a magical girl, would you?
[Voice]
[Though she doesn't sound too hopeful. Scurvey flat out said that there could be millions of pieces of that stupid ruby, with some so small you couldn't even see them. No point in getting her hope's up...
...wait what.]
A...magical girl?
[Pause.]
Well...I'm a necromancer...and I use magic...and I'm a girl, so...I guess?
[Voice]
If "Kyubey" doesn't mean anything to you, then forget I said anything.
[Voice]
[Voice]
If you don't mind me asking, how did you learn your magic?
[Voice]
[And like that she stopped caring.]
Oh, my parents taught me. And my sister.
[Voice]
Are they both necromancers like yourself, then?
[Voice]
[Voice]
[Voice]
[Voice]
[ The irony doesn't escape Homura- that pure and just magical girls turned out to be wrapped up in horrible Faustian bargains, while ye olde evil necromancers may have just been like any other passed-along trade. ]
[Voice]
No reason to be sorry. Some of us are like that, just not all of us.
