*Since Selphie has been keeping to her room for the past few days, she's been doing her best to keep herself busy and occupied. Fortunately, she has her acoustic guitar for that. She's been practising this same song a lot, and once she's finally happy with it she decides to share it with everyone else. So in her room, acoustic guitar propped on her knee, Selphie opens up her journal in front of her so that every pirate can listen in. Think of it as a performance! (ooc: if you don't want to listen to the preamble on this video, skip to 1min in) Enjoy, pirates!*

Oh wow, Marco! Really? Can we sing together, pretty please?

If you'd like, but I don't promise to be any good. Do you have any favorite songs?

[And he starts heading over to her room.]

*There's a small squee of excitement* Oh, well, I have loads!

*She's still sitting on the chair by her bed when he comes in, and she turns to hom wirh a big smile*

This is so awesome that I have someone to sing with!

[He grins cheerfully.] Eh? You don't have millions of others lined up to join you normally?

*She laughs and shakes her head, strumming a note on the guitar*

Nopes! Otherwise I'd have a super duper mega group going on!

So - what are ya gonna sing for me?

I have to pick right now? You're harsh. [Deadpan.]

What would you like?

Hmm... I dunno! What sort of thing do you like to sing?

Almost anything. Except the stuff Shanks likes.

[Because fuck that guy or something.]

*Raises a brow*

Well that's okay cause I don't know who that is anyway.

What about a phoenix song? What sorta songs do phoenixes like?

[JUST SUPER DEVIOUS GRIN HE DOES NOT EVEN TRY TO HIDE.]

I'd tell you to ask Ikki, but apparently he didn't know there were different genres. I could sing you something to dance to though, eh? [Because that does not give away anything nope.]

Why would I ask him? You'd be much better asking him, since you're both such good friends and all...

*She looks at her guitar stubbornly, totally not getting what he looks so happy about*

You wanna sing something to dance to? Huh - what skind of thing?

[Marco tilts his head.] No. For you to dance with him to.

But you didn't hear that from me.

*That makes her look at him quickly, her eyes wide with utter disbelief*

Marco. What..are you even talking about?

[OH.]

[He's totally blown the secret.]

[Not that it was secret.]

[But it should have been.] Nothing. [HIS GRIN SAYS OTHERWISE.]

*Selphie shrugs her shoulders like it's no big deal, trying to hide her annoyance*

I get it. You and Ikki have your secret jokes now too, huh?

*That is totally not a pout that she is doing right now*

Guess that's what friends do...

[Facepalms.]

Okay if I tell you a secret, do you promise to never ever ever let on that I told you?

Promise?

*Okay, so she definitely perks up at the mention of a secret*

Hmm? Depends on the secret... But I'm awesome at keeping secrets.

[He'll have to think on this a bit, but whatever. His choices are to leave them confused and floundering and chuckle to himself over it, or at least help a little.]

[He crooks a finger for her to lean closer so he can quietly mumble in her ear.]

I'm teaching Ikki how to dance so he can dance with you, got it?

If you like Samba, I should be decent enough to learn how to play it so you can dance instead, yoi.

*Selphie put her guitar aside and stands so that she can better hear what this super exciting secret might be. But when she does, she frowns and quickly steps back, giving Marco an accusing look, eyes narrowing*

Is this part of your joke?

*Because it's just so unbelievable that this could possibly have any truth to it*

Are you making fun of me?

I do not joke about dancing. [But he says this with the same deadpan seriousness as everything else so that might not be too trustworthy.]

And I'm certainly not about to joke about something that would get him to punch me or stop speaking to me for weeks.

Why do you think he wouldn't want to dance with you?

*Selphie just sighs and shakes her head, shoulders drooping. If he is serious about the dancing, fine. But with Ikki?*

Look, you and Ikki might he friends and everything but - you need to realise that what Ikki islike around you is probably not what he's like around me. The Ikki I know would sooner do all the cleaning all over the ship for the rest of his life than spend five minutes dancing with me. Dancing is sociable, its purpose is for having fun, and it involves being close to someone else. Ikki doesn't like any of those things.

[He laughs softly.] I know. That's why he's trying to learn it for you.

Understand, eh? He's making an exception. So don't dismiss how difficult that is for him.

*The prospect of dancing with Ikki is exciting, but though she seems to light up a little, she still seems a little wary*

Well, no. Of course not. If he really is trying to dance, then that's really difficult for him, I get that. That's why I don't really understand... That's an awful lot of effort to go to.

*She's really just not understanding this. None of it makes any sense to her*

That's right. Maybe he considers you worth it, eh.

*To think that Ikki would use his time like that, for her benefit, it makes a blush rise to her cheeks. But it's still so bizarre that she shakes her head and sists back down on her chair*

Maybe. Maybe he thinks of me as a friend now.

*Because even that would be an improvement*

You think he didn't already?

*She just laughs at that and throws him a look*

He just about freaked out when I said that we were friends!

[He grins softly and nods thoughtfully.]

Phoenixes are lonely creatures. Having people who care for us is not taken lightly, eh.

You will come to understand in time, but go slowly with him, eh? And don't take anything he says too harshly. It's more about his past than the present.

I know... Maybe I should just take it easier on him. Maybe I shouldn't bother him so much, but I still think he should try to make friends. Which is why I'm so glad there are two of you. I mean, you don't have to worry about each other so much.

*Selphie sighs and begins to drum her fingers lightly on the side of her guitar*

Is there.. anything I can do to help him? Or both of you?

*She searching for whatever secret Marco has that managed to make Ikki look so happy*

No, you should bother him even more, eh. Just don't take anything he says too harshly. He does really like you, but when you're in danger or worried, or upset, he'll panic a bit.

[Marco waves a hand back and forth.] I have more years on him than either of us want to admit, and I've had Thatch putting up with my insanity for decades, eh.

Just don't leave him lonely, and he'll do his best to make you smile, eh.

*Selphie thinks on this silently for a moment, then slowly nods her head. She realises, with quite some force, that she doesn't want Ikki to be lonely, and least of all for her to be a part of that. She glances at Marco from the corner of her eye and smiles slightly, but sitting there she finds herself full of so many feelings that she doesn't really know what to do with. So she just hoists her guitar further up her knee and switches her mind to focus on something she actually understands*

So, you gonna sing with me or what?

Aye. Are you familiar with Devil Down Below?

*She shakes her head but smiles*

Nopes! Sing it for me and I'll see if I can pick it up!

[He starts off whistling a few bars before jumping into this.]

*Enjoying the sound of his voice, Selphie listens for a moment, before finally picking up a quiet acoustic accompaniment, humming lightly along*
