Voice
"Haste, make haste without waste--
--If you race full of folly and take the wrong way, you'll find yourself a watery grave."
[It was a low voice that spoke up from between the pages that night, in a contemplative tone that carried the lilt of a childish melody. The few who had met the sailor in person would recognize dampened demeanor, not that he could ever be kept down for long. For everyone else-- the derp was finally speaking up. And he wasn't sharing any notes this time.
With a sigh he spoke up again, this time more pointedly:]
...how many here know how to remove curses?

no subject
[And here he goes thinking you mean censoring.]
no subject
[The reference is far beyond his grasp.]
[Voice!]
[He's helped with removing a curse, or two?]
[Voice!]
[Voice!]
[Silence.]
Well, I have no idea exactly what happened last week, since I wasn't... here... [Then, it suddenly sounds like he's forcing his voice to pep back up somewhat.]
Well, uh... I know that Scurvey Dog said something about it happening every year, no matter what...
[The sentence is spacey, as he speaks in a musing tone.] Maybe... if we ask around and find out exactly what happened... to everyone before they changed, we can start to figure out... how to stop it from happening, again?
[Voice!]
It won't help. We cannot stop it, but I wanted to hear if anyone had any success. I had none.
Curses are beyond my limits.
[Voice!]
[Gives a faint laugh.] But, I kind of doubt it's anything like that.
[Voice!]
Anything's welcome, even if it doesn't amount to much. I'll listen to anything that people want to share.
[Voice!]
Okay, I'm on it! I'll start asking around, now.
[Pauses just for a moment.]
Oh, by the way, my name's Sora.
[Voice!]
[Even if they both were too confused to really help each other, Piers was glad to hear the smile in Sora's voice.]
I am curious about your story too, if you ever wanted to share.
[Voice!]
[Sounds a tiny bit confused.] My story, huh? ...Sure, I guess it wouldn't hurt to share it with you!
[There's no way he could go from beginning to end--unless Piers has AMPLE TIME available. Specific parts, though, are certainly doable. In all honesty, Sora actually would love to tell Piers about some of the cool things he's witnessed...because why not?]
What exactly are you curious to hear about?
[Voice!]
The curse and the coins. How did you break it?
Handwritten
I fear that we all fell prey to this curse and had to suffer through it until the end. As far as I know, the only cure for the affliction was the return of the sun. Has everyone on your ship recovered? My crew mates have all returned to their former selves.

Mine as well.
I only ask this question because there are other methods of removing such afflictions back in the lands I come from. Of these, a few are within my skills, but they were not enough for what we experienced last week.
That is how I know it was a curse, and I do not want to see my crewmates suffer again.
-Piers of the Alcyone

That is very commendable, but Dog said this shall likely be a yearly happening. At least, next time, we shall be prepared. Perhaps this is an indiscreet question, but are you a mage?
-Elissa
Handwritten
Just because the Dog says it will be so does not mean that we should stand down. This is unacceptable for me.
I would also not call myself a mage by any degree. At least, not of a sort that you recognize. I am a sailor who has some unusual skills, little more.

[He's uninformed, but not unobservant. He caught the 'we' there.]
...how do you make dust?

What is an 'enchantix'?
voice;
It's what we call a fairy form which is gained when you save someone from your home world. pretty much to the point where you would sacrifice yourself to save them. [A pause.] There were exceptions in this case, but they would be considered incomplete.
voice;
Like with Faeries.]
So you were awarded for an act of selflessness.
[He was reminded of a story about a young man who dove from a lighthouse to save a young woman that he barely knew from drowning...]
But, only form? That sounds strange for a Fairy.

Perks, yes. But, ones that you say you cannot use. Have you also found yourself limited since coming to this world?

He hadn't expected one of his crewmates to answer that question, even if it was with one of her own.]
Why wouldn't there be?

Fair enough. This place is a trip, isn't it?

[Ash was more concerned about what ruined them.]
no subject
[Ruins of majestic civilizations weren't uncommon for him either-- and his concern was similarly on the problems that caused them to collapse in the first place.]
I'm on deck, Ashley. Care to join?
no subject
[It takes slightly longer than a minute, but she finds him shortly after closing the book.]
You called?
no subject
Only because it seemed odd not to.
[speaking to someone who was only a deck away with that book seemed strange to him. Then again, he was entirely unfamiliar with much of the technology that even his crewmates knew. The fully stocked kitchen still amazed him.]
