Day 1 of being Captain

Teleported to strange island. Green fountain is the only clue, flying the nearby area didn't help figure out location. If it's in the New World, it's not one of Whitebeard's islands.

Surrounded by noisy idiots who are no help.

[Ace woke up in traction. Or, well, what he thought that would have felt like. In reality, he was pinned inside a web of broken trees, of which he had to grab one and pry himself out with a surprising amount of force. Rolling onto his side, he realized part of him was on fire and it was spreading to a great number of other trees.]

...Damn.

[So, Marco would find as as he chased down all the fire, calling it back into his body, because forest fires weren't his thing at all--]

Where the hell am I!? I'm gonna be late seein' Marco!

[Oh look. A forest fire. Handy. And if Ace didn't fix it, Marco was going to kick him again for lighting birds' homes on fire. Go burn all the ships you want, but leave the birds alone, okay.]

You're late.

[DEADPAN.]

[Because you know. It's kind of his thing.]

Ah! Marco! I didn't mean to be late--I fell asleep when I was at the fountain and I guess I slipped and fell!

But, here I am! See? I wasn't lyin'!

[Marco just grabs Ace into a tight one-armed hug around the shoulders and gives him a quick noogie.]

How are you here at all? Not that I'm objecting, but it is definitely a question at hand, eh.

[Ace paused at that, getting a better look at Marco's face when the guy got him in a hug.]

Ah, well-- [He patted Marco on the back, suddenly snickering a little bit.]

The hell if I knew why I'm fine, but--

[He was still snickering with one hand held up to cover his mouth.

Rather, Ace didn't notice he had a mess of ketchup on the back of his hand.]

[Puts a finger up to his face and wipes it off. Then tries to inspect Ace's knuckles.] So who were you punching besides me? [HE AIN'T GONNA LICK IT. GROSS. Also a good way to get HIV. You get to discover that it's ketchup.]

...Wha? Wha?

[Ace paused, staring at Marco. Wow, he had really thick, tasty looking blood--

Wait.]

That was me!? Are you the one who started it!?

[Ace please don't eat Marco. No matter how much he looks like a delicious peacock-turkey, the sparkles never come out.]

No. [Have a look that clearly says you're an idiot.] You sleep-punch like your Grandfather. [He still holds a grudge, okay? It's kind of his thing.]

Ace squinted at Marco a moment. He remembered that punch. Still, he had fuzzy memory of the other 10 million times Garp punched him through a mountain. How could one remember things with their brain lodged in their throat?]

His 'fists of love'? Tcch. It was rough growing up with that guy. Did I ever tell you he wanted me to join the Marines?

He kept beating up me and Luffy 'cause we refused.

Aye, I can't say I'm surprised. It's probably given you a strong sense of will about it though, eh? [Flicks Ace's forehead lightly.]
