The sun... didn't rise today. I mean, I'm sure everyone saw already, and it's hard to even see that much through the fog, but... is this what we were warned about? Something in the fog that's going to get us hurt? I don't understand at all. The moon's pretty like this, but... it's ominous. I... wait, what's-?

[Seems like she saw something... what's going on? There's a brief clack of shoes on stone, but only a few seconds pass before she continues.]

He's... something's wrong... hey, wait, what are you doing? Don't- ah!

[The shriek comes out plenty loud enough to be heard by anyone hanging out near the fountain that afternoon; there's a thud over the journal as it hits the ground, then a second thud as Rikka slumps to the cobblestone; the journal stops recording a few seconds later.]

I'm... by the fountain, on Isla Empieza, I think. Considering the moon's orange, I can't see so well.

That's... inconvenient. I believe our ship is quite far from Isla Impieza right now.

Is someone else coming to help you?

I think so... thank you. I'm just a little off-balance right now. I'll be fine... probably. My head's still a little fuzzy.

Ah, good.

You shouldn't stay alone on the street, though. The natives can be quite aggressive. Can you find a safe place to wait?

I'm not really worried... I can take care of myself. More worryingly, though, it's pretty dead out here... I wonder where everyone is?

I... think so? Things are a little fuzzy. I... feel hungry, but I just ate a little while ago... I'm not sure what's going on.

Well, what do you remember about the past few minutes? Perhaps we can work out the details logically.

I... not much. There was this weird fog, then I saw something walking out of it... and then I think it reached out for me... and then nothing. I just came to a minute ago.

What sort of something? Like a person?

[Please be a person please be a person please be a person.]

It was the right shape, but... something seemed wrong. It really doesn't help that they came through the fog, either.

RIKKA?! Are you alright?! Hold on, I'm coming!

[There's no response from Rikka; whatever happened, she's either not with her journal anymore, or she's unconscious. Depending on how fast Mana runs, she's likely to reach Rikka just before or right as she awakens; she doesn't seem injured at all, except for maybe a scrape or two from falling onto cobble. She is, or at least was, out cold, though. So whatever happened... it was a thing. All the same, the area seems clear of ghosts, and eerily clear of people, too.]

[Mana arrives and... takes absolutely zero note of her surroundings. Instead, she rushes to Rikka's side and tries to jostle her awake]

Rikka! Rikka, wake up!

[and yes, she came as Cure Heart, as she expected a fight when she got here]

[The girl takes a bit to stir; when she opens her eyes, the first things she sees is... wait, what?]

Mana...? Why... are you here?

[Perhaps still a little fuzzy.]

What do you mean, why am I here?! You were attacked! I came to help you!

[begins checking and touching Rikka all over, for the sake of seeing if she's wounded]

What happened? Do you know who it was?!

[diamondlight]

I... what? I was attacked?

[Then she seems to snap back to herself all in a rush.]

Right...! That weird thing came up to me, and it touched me, and... I must have blacked out. I'm sorry I worried you. But, um, I'm really not hurt. It feels like maybe I scraped something, but...

[While Mana leans over her to investigate, though, Rikka smiles slightly. 'Worrying over me like always... it must have sounded bad through the journal. Her heart's racing. She must have run straight here.' It doesn't occur to her to wonder why she knows that, though.]

... It doesn't look like there are any wounds on you... are you sure you're alright? Oh Rikka, I was so worried...

[she de-transforms, and hugs Rikka as hard as she can. Rikka can probably hear her heart thumping even without anything strange going on...]

Sorry, Mana. I'm okay now. [The hug is... not really a surprise, per se, but it's still comforting. But there's something...]
