[voice] So many references
So in case you haven't noticed it's basically Resident Evil up in here.
[As the journal starts recording you can hear not only Dave's voice, but several low-pitched grunts and groans in the background along with the sound of shambling footsteps. These sounds grow steadily louder as Dave continues.]
This is like Dawn of the Dead meets The Walking Dead, only with less regular dead guys and more dead pirates and naval officers. It's nothing like Warm Bodies though, because making out with a corpse is gross and I don't think these guys are ever gonna come back. No one's gonna take shelter in a house, a mall, or an airport either. On the bright side if you ever wanted to kill someone twice, you might have a chance. It's like a two for one special. Who knows how long it will last?
[There's a pause in Dave's dialogue and a loud growl. Then the sound of a sharp metal object slicing through rotten flesh and thudding against bone. The growl dissolves into a wet gurgling sound and then falls silent. The other lifeless moans in the background continue.]
Don't worry if you miss your chance. You can always try again 28 Days Later.

Grell is slightly offended. But she'll forgive you.]
I'd say you're wasting time by talking so much, but our guests are rather slow. [Plus she does like hearing him talk, even though she has no idea about any of those movie references.]

I could do an entire bad guy monologue before these guys catch up to me. I don't even have to fight them. I could just outrun them if I wanted. But it's kinda fun to chop their heads off and then watch the body go looking for the head. It's like playing fetch with a bunch of really dumb dogs.
[Normally Dave isn't that cruel, but he's been bored and a lot of his friends have gone missing. He's venting his frustration on the zombies.]

You must be very bored.
[The zombies aren't a real challenge to her. She can kick them off the ship easily and not waste much effort.]
I dealt with one dog long enough. I'm really over it.

[Really, he's enjoying it. Dave hides it really well, but he does actually feel guilty about killing live people. Sometimes. Killing people who are already dead is just fun.]
But you're right. One dog is enough. We don't need more.
Open to all (4 :|) bloody roses
Y'know it's great that people come back from the dead here but...why can't the dead just stay dead for once?
[cuz ghosts and skeletons and zombies is starting to get old okay]
[but he goes with it anyway, bringing his sword up and hacking and the violent but slow masses now and then.]

[Dave slashes his sword, cutting one of the zombies in half. The bottom half keeps stumbling forward while the top half uses it's arms to push itself across the deck.]
I like fighting these guys better than fighting real people. They keep moving after my first strike. Also it feels like I'm putting them back where they belong, not like I'm sending them to meet their maker.

It's more challenging and fun, assuming the opponent is skilled.

You boys are too slow.
I'm so sorry, I've been awfully slow with tags lately.
Hot damn. Somebody's on the ball today.
[He could point out that their targets aren't very fast, but that doesn't make what Faye just did any less bad ass. It was still pretty fucking awesome.]
S'ok!
Is it only me or do they seem to just keep on coming...
[and they did keep coming. In fact, Thash and Faye got separated from Dave in the chaos. Their fight took them below the main deck down the the firing deck, where they sorta got cornered and even tried firing a canon at the zombies. Eventually they had to try to escape up through the grate covering the cargo hole, but only Faye made it]
[a few tense minutes would pass but they'd eventually hear Thash calling to them from the starboard side of the ship where he was trying to escape the firing deck through a canon port]

I hear you! What is it?
[He can tell which direction she's in, so he cuts through the zombies as fast as he can. It sounds like this is urgent.]

*Once he gets close enough, Faye ushers him over towards the cargo hole. When she gets there she can't even look down, but yells for Thash anyway*

[in one last attempt to get free he leapt up towards the cargo hole and the voices of those above. There were too many zombies in the way to get a good leap, but he did manage to catch the edge with his claws. He pulled against the zombies clinging to his body but amongst them all there was one half zombie, a torso, arms and head, that crawled up his back. Its large, warped mouth gaped open for a split second before it chomped down on his throat]
[There would be no recovery from that. Just like when he bit the necks of enemies, blood was suddenly everywhere. He tried to say something but only managed to choke. Even if they managed to get the zombie off of him he'd still fall, his fingers losing feeling. Then he was gone, obscured by the zombies as they went after him voraciously]
[at least they'd be satisfied down there and not bother the rest of the crew for a while]

[Dave follows Faye's lead, letting her shoot at the zombies from a distance while he cuts down anything stupid enough to get close. Cutting through the mob is a lot more difficult than idly striking them down as they approach. There are just so goddamn many. He gets a few scrapes and cuts because they're crawling all over him.]
Thash! Dude, you ok?! [Dave lowers his voice and turns toward Faye. He's worried.] I can't fucking hear him.
