Uwah! I don't think I've ever seen a storm as bad as this! Maybe it only seems that way because we're out in the middle of the ocean?

I've never gotten seasick but these waves are really- eh? What was that? ...maybe I imagined it? I thought I saw something...someone? Out ther-whoa!

Phew! Th-that was close...! Maybe I should head back in...

[slides by, can't stop because the deck is wet. At least he's got a rope wrapped around his waist and both arms as he fights with the rigging, so he won't slide overboard, but...]

Ah! Zoro!

[While he isn't quite fast enough to grab the man as he goes zooming by, he can at least help the man find better traction. There's a brief shimmer as Lyrik throws his hands out towards Zoro, and not only will he find himself able to stand on the deck as though it's dry, but the water that had been soaking him leaps off, and the rain doesn't seem to stick long enough to make him wet again.

Lyrik runs over to help with the rigging then.]

[whoa, nice. Zoro's boots screeeeeeeech to a halt on the now-dry deck, and he looks over at Lyrik in amazement. Never think of yourself as useless, Lyrik. He is eternally grateful for the lack of being soaked.]

Thanks! Help me tie this down again, the wind pulled it loose!

[The dragon nods, grabbing hold of the end of the rope. The wind's pretty strong though, so it's a good thing Zoro's hanging on as well.]

[all those muscles aren't just for show, he's good for something once in a while. He can't do it alone, though, so as long as he pulls it taut, Lyrik can lash it down and tadah, they've saved the ship! For now.]

Shit. We'll have to keep an eye on that, unless this storm lets up in the next few hours.

[Lyrik mops his brow with the back of his hand.]

Y-yeah, I'm fine! Are you okay? I thought it was letting up a little, but it just started up harder again. But for a second I thought I saw someone out there...

[He shakes his head.]

Maybe I'm just seeing things.

Saw someone? [brow all a-furrow] Where? Like another ship, or a wreck or something?

Wh- oh, no, I mean... Well, it wasn't really clear, and with all the rain, I couldn't tell for sure if anything was really there. ...but it almost looked like a person or something.

[he can't help but be skeptical, since it's pouring rain and dark and nasty, but Zoro still looks around like he'd be able to see whatever Lyrik saw]

I don't know, it was kind of creepy. This whole storm's been pretty fierce too.

Yeah, really. [squints up at the rain. Pretty nice to have it sliding right off him, but eh.] Maybe we should go into the galley or something, where it's dry.

It was kinda weird the other night, before it hit, too. Felt like something was in the air, and I don't mean rain and lightning.

Ah, yeah- that's probably a good idea.

[He could hold the rain and water away from them for a good while- it wasn't something that took much effort from him, but with how crazy things are out here, it's probably safer to be inside than out here.]

Yeah, I was still on watch when the wind started. You don't hear it howl like that very often.

[no need to hold the rain off forever, Lyrik, enjoy the fact that he doesn't want to take too much advantage of your power. The galley is, at least, dry, and if Sanji's not currently cooking maybe they can snitch some snacks.]

[Celestia swoops past with this apology. A cone of golden light lances out from her horn as she hovers on the near side of the ship, blasting away a swelling wave before it can sweep over the railing.]

Whoa!

[As the remnants of water from the wave splash towards the deck, Lyrik sweeps a hand outward, the water jumping back amidst a brief shimmer of light. They have enough water aboard already!]

Thanks Celestia! Please be careful out there! The winds are pretty strong!

[The young dragon grasps the railing to look out after her, the rain and water not seeming to touch him, and he doesn't appear soaked for how long he's been standing out here.]

[Celestia had notices. And notices again, as a gust catches her widespread wings and sends her hurtling over the ship in a tangle of limbs. She catches herself on the other side, then puts some height on to smash through the clouds above them.]

[The hole she leaves quickly fills in, but every little bit counts.]

Celestia!

[He gasps, watching as the winged unicorn gets blown back. It's a relief to see that she seems okay, still at it. Well, if she's going to take care of things up there, the least he can do is try to divert the bigger waves that might try to slam into the ship.

He braces himself, throwing his hands outward once he sees another curling in and looming towards them. When it does crash against the ship, the force is a lot more than he'd expected, knocking him back.]

[Smashing back down through the clouds, Celestia lifts a wall of golden energy on the other side of the ship, then opens enough holes in it so the wave can wash past but Lyrik won't go overboard.]

[She drops down to the deck, downright panting from effort at this point and too waterlogged to fly well.]

I hope this ends -- soon!

[Lyrik pushes himself to his feet after the wave has splashed across the deck. Out of reflex he uses his magic to brush the water from the soaked pony, just as he's managed to keep it from himself.

Looking out at the bleak skies beyond, he nods.]

Me too... At least I think we've helped a little. Those were some pretty big waves you took down, Celestia.

They are not done. [Celestia looks out on the water, not with any satisfaction at her efforts -- just with the knowledge that she has much more to do.] I can only achieve results through brute force and power, not skill or finesse. This is far beyond my normal sphere of influence.

You did what you could... We can't stop an entire storm, but fewer waves hitting the ship is better than taking it all, I think. With luck things will die down again.

I dislike stopping... before the job is done, no matter how much I did. [She shakes herself a bit, trying to clear her head and banish the strain from her muscles, then takes a trembling step forward. And stops. No, definitely not much strength to go rejoin the fray right now.]

[Frowning, he moves to help steady her, not that he's sure how good that will do but he'll try anyway.]

I don't like it either, but sometimes...sometimes you have to hold back and take care of yourself too. The storm is one thing, but if there's something else out there, it wouldn't be good to tire ourselves out against the waves.

[She's all right. She's just tired, especially in her wings, which means a subtle balancing mechanism isn't working quite as it should. She just needs to be careful.]

No more flying, I think, but my head should be clear enough for magic soon enough.

If there is something else out there, I have no doubts that our crewmates will handle it readily.

[Lyrik remains where he is, sighing at her words. He shakes his head.]

Aaah, you're just like Elle! And almost every other dragon mage back home! Why do people have to be so stubborn until the point of collapse!
