I need to get off this damn island so I can find that magical ruby. I'm not a sailor at all. I get motion sickness from slow moving chariots because of my magic. But I'm a damn good mage and fighter on land or on an animal's back. Help me out and I'll help you out.

You'd be surprised. There's a lot of technical work that goes into it and it's a right pain in the ass. Besides, while I'm all for the power vacuum it'd create, I'm not sure there's a good way to do it without simply falling to the trap of getting possessed by him. The last idiot who tried, we still his head on Grell's ship as a reminder to the others.

I'm a legal mage, hell I'm the master of a legal guild. I like a good fight, but I'm not going to cause problems for the local government. This might be another world, but I still represent my guild.

More like mercenaries? People hire us to get rid of monsters, protection, retrieval of stolen objects, and rescue missions. No assassinations or coups though

Yeah, Dark Guilds. Guilds not sanctioned by the Magic Council.

What's a Magic Council? Other than legal authority, that much I could infer.

Well, they're the top dogs in Magic, more or less.

Guilds operate all around the continent, but aren't attached to any kingdom. So the Magic Council is the ruling body of the guilds. They're the ones people go to with complaints 'bout the guilds, like if a guild causes too much destruction on a job or something.

They also have their own knights and stuff, and prisons. [pauses] Used to be they were elected from mages who left guilds, but, uh, now the Ten Wizard Saints, aka the ten most powerful and good mages out there, make up the council, since the last council was assassinated by demons.

Do demons regularly wreak havoc in your world?

No. The last time was four hundred years ago.

Lots of wars happened four hundred years ago, and it was because of the Black Mage Zeref.
