Voice / Private to the Spades [Dated to after the storm]
[When Rose speaks she keeps her voice emotionless. The crew has a right to know about what she is going to say and thus she cannot afford to get emotional.]
Now that the sun has risen and those waking nightmares are gone, there is something I wish to clear up. Some of you may have noticed two spirits of armored warriors that were constantly attacking me since the whole thing began. And some of you have no doubt over heard what those spirits said.
[She gives a small sigh before continuing.]
Everything those spirits said was true. The history of my world knows me as the Black Monster. Every one hundred eight years a certain child, known as the Moon Child, is born. What I did was kill that child, while it was still a babe, and everyone around it. This means I have slaughtered everyone in towns, even small cities, when this child was born. Thus why I am known as a monster. Everyone who saw me during this time I made sure they did not survive to tell about it.
Before anyone asks, no I was not being controlled by some outside force. I killed all those people, men, women, and children alike, knowing full well of what I was doing.
I am telling you all of this because you have a right to know who your crew mate is. With that said, I understand if none of you want anything to do with me. If it is decided that none of you want me as part of the crew, then I will take my leave at the next island we stop at.
[Rose will most likely not reply to comments right away, but crew members are free to seek her out. She can be found in her room aboard the Moon.]

The hell kinda dumbass message was that?
no subject
That message was me telling the truth.
no subject
Damn it Rose! Think the rest a us ain't got secrets? Think we ain't used t' other people talkin' shit an' makin' all we do int' some horror story?
[Namur's hand turns black and grabs what's left of the blade, twisting it in an effort to wrench it out of her hands. The other aims a cross punch at her abdomen.]
All y' did is say what y' done. Didn't even bother sayin' why.
no subject
I've learned long ago that most people do not want to listen to the 'why' because they cannot get past the 'what' when it comes to something like the mass murder on innocents. If the truth is found out, I only give the why when it is asked of me. Otherwise it just sounds like an excuse.
[She slowly gets back up.]
no subject
We're yer nakama, Rose. If y' want us t' be. Why the hell wouldn't we wanna know why? Bein' dedicated t' somethin' 'nuff t' hang 'round for centuries don't sound like some kinda damn excuse if y' ask me. So what's the deal with the moon spawn?
no subject
[She shakes her head some before continuing.]
The people of my world believe that the Moon Child the reincarnation of a god that will bring peace to the world. They were partially right. The Moon Child is the reincarnation of a god, but it is the God of Destruction. My duty for over eleven thousand years was to prevent the God of Destruction's soul from reuniting with its original body. That meant destroying the Moon Child and anyone who has been around it, even by chance.
no subject
[Namur sits cross-legged on the floor, and motions for her to do the same.]
Nakama means somethin' like family but differnt. Ain't gotta be blood related t' be nakama, an' someone's blood don't make 'em nakama. 'S more'n blood. Deeper. Lotta times, stronger. 'S what we all oughta be, an' what we all ain't quite yet cuz there ain't 'nuff a us that knows what it is t' even be tryin' for. Catch me?
no subject
As I said, when it comes to something like this, there are many who do not want to listen to the 'why.' It gets to the point of "why bother" to explain when others do not wish to listen.
[She pauses at the definition of "nakama." Was she ever part of something like that? The Dragoons, both current and original, were dear to her, but were they like family? Her own family has been long gone and she is not even she remembers what it feels like to have one.
[Eventually she gives a bit of a nod.]
I think so.
no subject
Thing 'bout nakama's they got yer back no matter what. Believe in y'. Got a goal y' wanna achieve? Then it becomes one a everyone's goals. 'S fine if y' wanna keep some shit t' yerself, but don't think for a second that we ain't gonna be interested in the why, cuz that's the important part for you, follow? Gotta believe in the rest a us, too. Believe we're gonna do our best t' understand y', t' try an' see where yer comin' from. Believe we're gonna do our damnedest t' be there for y', even if others treated y' differnt in the past. Personally, I didn't give a shit 'bout them nightmare dudes. Been called a monster plenty often myself an' whether it's true or not jus' depends on whether yer standin' next t' me or not. Know y' been 'lone a long time. But y' ain't gotta be no more.
[Namur punctuates his speech with gestures throughout, as he does when he's passionate about something. This is definitely one of those things.]
no subject
The thing is I was a monster, and I acknowledge that. Yes I still looked human, but the terror I brought with my actions more than made up for it.
And as you said, not everyone on this crew knows what "nakama" is. There may very well be some members who want me gone due to my actions and not care about why I did what I did.
no subject
An' if so, then what? Gonna up an' leave like them others?
no subject
[She sighs and gives another shake of her head.]
Which I don't. The one thing I do want is to stay. Soa help me, I actually like this insane crew. But, the last thing I want is to cause conflict just by being on board. If it is decided that I am not welcomed by some of the crew members, then I shall leave and go out on my own.
[Meaning she won't be part of anyone's crew.]
no subject
[He nods, all the same.]
Glad t' hear that ain't in yer mind. Some dumbass got a problem with it, we'll talk it out with 'em. If they ain't gonna be willin' t' hear y' out, they probly ain't gonna be stickin' 'round here much longer anyway. This is yer home if y' want it, an' there ain't no one got rights t' rout y' from it.
no subject
I shall keep that in mind...
no subject
Well, whatever the hell happens from here on happens, I guess. Give yerself more credit, Rose. An' do the same for the rest a us, too. Ain't none a us like most people if y' didn't notice.
[He pushes himself up to his feet and turns to leave, but stops and runs his fingers over the back of his head.]
Uhh... bring y' somethin' t' cover that up. Sorry 'bout yer door. That wasn't on purpose.
no subject
Old habits are hard to break, Namur. Especially those that are thousands of years old.
[She goes and picks up what is left of her sword. There is no saving it so it looks like she will have to get a new one.]
no subject
Breakin' shit's what pirates do best, sweetheart.
[He winks, then ducks through the door one shoulder at a time.]
Audio;
[Ace wasn't happy to hear this kind of news. It made him feel concern that his crew was in danger, but he kept his tone even.
The fact that she admitted it came with quite a bit of weight to it.]
Audio;
Because of what happened when those ghosts ships came. I felt that the crew deserved to know the truth.
Audio;
And, you've stuck around.
It might seem small to you right now, but our loyalty isn't discarded so easily when you're with us.
no subject
[Rose sounds a bit confused. She's so used to receiving and witnessing angry reactions that she is not sure how to respond to this.]
no subject
no subject
[Rose looked over her shoulder and saw the familiar wings and blonde hair.]
Leanne?
no subject
It is okay, Rose. That isn't who you are now.
no subject
That is just it, Leanne. I am still that person. What I did was based on cold logic, the lesser of two evils. If given that choice again, my answer will be the same.
[Action] forever late
Of course, the moment she does he will just punch her at light speed in the face before saying anything.]
Got your earful about how much of an idiot you are already?
[Action] But still fashionably~
[She didn't see that punch coming so she ends up stumbling back until she regains her footing again. Rubbing her jaw she looks at Ikki.]
Good to know that both you and Namur don't have that outdated concept about hitting girls. Is it your turn to lecture me now?
no subject
[And he doesn't seem to regret it even one bit, quite the contrary.]
Besides, that thing about not hitting girls is just plain bullshit as far as I'm concerned.
[He crosses his arms and gives her a long serious look.]
I'm going to assume you got lectured about enough. I'm here just to complain that you wouldn't let me join into the "I'm such a monster" song you did before.
And to ask about the rest, too.
[The rest of the story that she didn't share, probably because she thinks it doesn't justify anything or that it doesn't matter or something like that.]
no subject
[Meaning she also thought it was stupid, even though it would have been to her advantage.
[She gives a sighs and sits on the edge her bed.]
It is a very long story, and like I told Namur, experience taught me to not even bother with an explanation because most do not want to hear it.
no subject
[Much to his annoyance.
He leans against the wall as he looks at her with a smug smile.]
Good thing phoenixes have tons of time for long stories and are unique enough to not be like "most" people.
no subject
The people of my world thought that the Moon Child would bring peace. Instead, it was the reincarnation of the God of Destruction.
Long ago the Winglies separated the god's soul from its body in order to keep it from destroying the world. They sealed the soul in an orb and cast the body into the sky where it became a moon the set.
Unfortunately, the Winglies, led by Malbu Frahma, drew power from the soul and used it to conquer and control the other races. The Dragoons were formed in order to fight against them and free the world. During the final battle of the war, Zieg, the Dragoon of the Red Eyed Dragon and the one who led us, smashed the orb in order to cut off Malbu's source of power.
At the time, we didn't know what the orb was or what it contained so it seemed logical to us to destroy it. But destroying it released the soul and start a one hundred and eight year cycle where it would reincarnate itself in a human child and then try to find its way back to its original body. Since I was the only Dragoon to survive the war, it became my duty to kill the Moon Child shortly after it was born and everyone around it.
no subject
And a huge painful deal of irony. He's silent for a moment, trying to decide what to say.]
Maybe there's some pattern after all, regarding who is brought here. Like a link or something. I certainly don't believe in coincidences.
[It seems to come out of the blue, but he can't help it.]
There's something like that in my world as well and on a similar cycle. A child would be born, it would be the purest human being in the world, someone who would only know how to love and forgive others and disapprove of violence and pain. By definition that child would be a great human being that would help humanity to walk a bit further from darkness, I suppose.
Except that the reason why the child was born was for the God of Destruction to use them as a vessel for his soul. He would posses the body, devour its original soul and use it to bring death to the world with the help of his one hundred and eight soldiers, known as Specters.
[There's a pause before he continues, taking in a deep breath.]
I wonder if the Sanctuary ever thought of trying to find that baby and eliminate it before it was too late... Though Hades always made sure to mobilize his men even before the baby was born, so they would quickly go and get it before anything could be done. And I don't think Athena would have approved of it.
But it is a logic solution. And a simple formula even if brutal, one life in exchange for a whole world? It's something anyone could come up with, you're hardly more of a monster than anyone else if that's all you have got.
no subject
Have you ever tried to kill a small babe as it laid crying in its crib, whose only sin is being born? It is very different from fighting and killing a warrior who can defend themselves. It takes a monster to do something like that, and I willing became one.
I may have had a good reason for doing what I did, but most people will not see it that way. To them, a child is a child, and children are off limits regardless of what they may become. I would not blame your Athena for not approving such a plan.
no subject
And I tried to. Sure, I failed to go all the way, but if now I was put in the same situation as you? I can't say I wouldn't burn those kids and whoever stood in my way. The only reason I wouldn't do it, would be if I wasn't a hundred percent sure that said kid was the one appointed to one day become the key of the world's destruction. I think the only worse thing than living with having killed a baby is to one day learn that the baby you killed wasn't the one you wanted to kill and thus failed to protect the world and killed an absolute innocent.
[Which is why he thinks the Sanctuary never tried that with Hades. Or maybe they did, it's hard to know because Shun was born after Saga's betrayal and thus any plans the Pope had for Hades were lost.]
And before you say something like "it's easy to say that you would do it when it doesn't affect you"... My brother was appointed to be the vessel of the God of Destruction. And I don't lie when I say that after I remembered that I thought that I should have let him die back when he was a newborn. Though I'm glad that I didn't, it's not because of the reasons one would expect.
[Had he abandoned the baby, Pandora would have just gone and get him much earlier and easier. It wouldn't have changed anything except for the worse. And back then he was too young to know that he should crush Shun's neck with his own hands, so that's an option that would have never happened.]
One more thing. When Shun got finally possessed and became the God of Destruction... He fought the soul of the God and stilled his body so that I could kill him. Can't say that those Moon Children would have thought the same, but if they have the capacity of loving the world they live in, I doubt they would have wanted to become the keys of its destruction either.
Either way your reason is much better than massacrating all the newborns of a whole country or so, just because one may be the one that will grow up and shake the world.
no subject
The Moon Child and your brother do sound very similar...
no subject
[There is a similarity between the whole birth and destiny thing, but he doubts that's what Rose is refering to now. He already pointed that similarity before after all. Or maybe it is and she's just confirming it.]
no subject
Nineteen years ago, when the Moon Child was last born, I failed. It was born with a twin in a country where twins were taboo. Without knowing it, I killed the twin, while the actual Moon Child was sent to an orphanage in another country.
As it turned out, one of my companions, Shanna, was that child. She's a very kind innocent girl. The whole "pure soul" you described sounds a lot like her.
no subject
I see. Did she like the idea of being the key to the world's destruction?
[It's a pretty rethoric question, though. If she was kind and innocent she wouldn't enjoy that.]
no subject
She did not even realize that she was the Moon Child until someone used her to bring the Moon down from the sky.
no subject
Did she survive?
no subject
[She sighs a bit, the memory of the bright flash still fresh.]
I should have died in the explosion, instead I ended up here. But I would like to think they all got out safe.
