Does anyone know how to tell if a chicken is really ill?

While I've been tending to the chickens, making sure that they eat their meal, but I've noticed that recently a couple of them won't eat and I'm worried that it's because they are ill. I've never really dealt with chickens before so I have little to no idea of how to tend to them if they are ill and I was kind of hoping there might be someone around who would have some idea.

[Considering she had no idea if the bird was actually ill. Even if it was something she could do, she wouldn't think of biting it just incase it could effect people.]

Sheheh, oh yeah, that's the word. Y' a vegetarian? Cuz lots a people bite chickens an' don't think nothin' 'bout it. They jus' ain't necessarily still livin'. The chickens, I mean.

I understanding biting a chicken when it's dead because that's when they get eaten, but when they are alive I guess... I'd feel bad about it because they would feel it.

I am human, but I do believe there are ways, but I wasn't raised as a vet so I wouldn't know how to check if a chicken is ill or not.

I guess like normal people checking the temperature of them is always a start. Also there are things humans are good at, it's just different for each person.

Cooking, fighting using my legs. The second one I guess wouldn't be as common, I suppose.

I'm not sure. I only noticed it today myself. For all I know they weren't showing symptoms until today but might have been ill for longer.

Do chickens really get sick? I didn't know that could happen.

Any animal can get sick. I don't think one animal can be immune. I guess sit's just they get a different kind of illness to humans.

I don't think I've ever gotten sick since I've made it to the surface world.

What exactly should I be looking out for?

I guess just anything that wasn't there before. I can't really explain illnesses.

Something like changes to skin, coughs, things like that. Even temperature differences can give you a hint to someone or something being ill.

I don't think anyone would want that honestly. But it's an obvious sign of illness should it happen.
