004. voice/action for the katabami
[While unaffected by the strange magic swapping everyone's bodies, it would be extremely difficult for Mitsunari not to notice all that's going on, and he doesn't like the particular nature of this curse one bit.]
To be handed the opportunity to pretend to be someone else... given free rein to deceive all that you like...
I detest this.
[Was that the sound of the journal snapping shut? It sure was. Whether anyone's actually used this as a chance to assume another person's identity is irrelevant; it's the principle of the thing.]

voice;
Be quiet.
voice;
[What a jerk.]
Mitsunari-san, clearly that still must be you - no one else could be so heartless!
voice;
[Yep, he knew it.]
Whoever or whatever is in possession of your body is not pretending to be you.
[He says, since that's what he'd be most concerned about if he were her. Mitsunari's priorities are very particular.]
voice;
[Despite whatever that said about her
and how annoying she was, she was glad that someone recognized her just by the way she spoke.]I know he's not - I just heard him panicking over it.
Well, if you ask me, I have the greater misfortune. I'm a bear!
voice;
[Anyway, this explains the fake Kodachi's fretting about fur and being human.]
Answer me. How and why is a bear able to use these journals?
[The bear in Kodachi's body appears to have intelligence on par with that of a human, which... either answers his question or raises more. Mitsunari must remind himself this is yet another strange occurrence not outside the realm of possibility as far as this world is concerned.]
voice;
[Another harrumph.]
Obviously, this bear is a very intelligent one - and I have hands, not paws.
[That seemed relevant.]
voice;
Then is it a bear at all?
[The description of this bear doesn't match the known criteria for bear-ness, okay. He has a right to be skeptical.]
voice;
[A sniff.]
He's there, after all, having fun with my body . . .
He'd better not ruin how I look!
voice;
Dismissively:] So what if he does? Save your dismay for something that matters.
voice;
[Hmph.]
Don't you worry about your appearance sometimes?
voice;
(His taste in fashion, just for the record, is questionable.)
But his thinking heads in a different, more reminiscent direction, and he has an alternate answer for her.]
...I recall when Lord Hideyoshi was alive... to appear before him as anything less than my best would be unforgivably disrespectful.
[Being kind of gross after a battle notwithstanding.]
voice;
Yes, there are simply some people that one must look their best for.
What is it about Hideyoshi-san that moves you so much?
voice;
Everything.
His might and prowess in battle, the quality of his character. Lord Hideyoshi was a worthy leader. He could command a room, an army -- a country. His life's ambition was to unify Japan in strength, and put an end to the weakness tearing it apart by the seams. There was nothing he couldn't do. And it is because of Lord Hideyoshi that I am here today.
voice;
You should talk to my brother. He's very intrigued by samurai and Miyamoto Musashi in particular. I'm certain that should you share your passions about Hideyoshi-san, you would have a fellow fan to wax poetic with.
voice;
[Just saying.
Oh, he exists in Mitsunari's universe. Mitsunari is just either so apathetic towards his existence he forgot his name or blissfully unaware of him at all. Actually, that's his stance on most people who aren't explicitly his enemy.]
And I am far more than Lord Hideyoshi's "fan"!
voice;
It was meant to be a compliment to show your dedication.
[Don't underestimate the power of fandom!]
voice;
Your praise makes a mockery of my dedication.
[It probably won't come as a surprise to say he's not the best at taking compliments.]
voice;
Fine, I shall simply never compliment you again.
[Doesn't anything sit well with Mitsunari . . .]
[Just you wait, when she finds Hideyoshi, she'll tell him to tell Mitsunari to be nice to her.]
voice;
I do not care in the slightest so long as it means you never again belittle my service to Lord Hideyoshi!
voice;
[Kodachi let out a bear-like snuffle.]
You are so odd.
voice;
These things cannot be compared!
[...If he were in a gloomier mood he might have instead taken this as an opportunity to just start ranting about how much he'd prefer to not have emotions at all. Perhaps we should be thankful this is what he's decided to talk about.]
You are the strange one to think them alike.
voice;
Fine, no one else can describe your relationship with your lord but yourself. There, I hope you are happy.
[As happy as he could be, anyway.]
