⚔ 2 - Colonial Rite

[Since it seemed to be the thing to do... Haytham took up his quill pen again. There were so many offering up information about the islands they had encountered it only seemed fitting to tell them of the one he had been on. And... warn them of the potential danger. ]

Due to the storm we were blown to the south east. There is a tropical island chain there known by the locals as the Corsair Kingdom. They are, for the most part, friendly but all of you should be made aware that there is a sizable Navy presence on the islands.

I would suggest avoiding the area for now. They are likely to be searching for unknown ships like yours for some time now.

[Mostly because of what happened / will happen in this log.]

On a more business related note. We have a few of the island delicacy known as Phoenix Fruit. If you would care to try it without running a naval blockade we might be convinced to sell a few.

[Several moments pass before Elissa gives reply.]

My friend's name is Ban.

I have obtained permission from my captain to travel to your vessel, provided your own captain offers permission to come aboard. We are currently in port for repairs and supplies, so I am blessedly free of duty in our cramped galley. May I inquire as to the weather where you are?

Also - I can offer quite a bit of eel meat, should you be interested. Or serpent. To be honest, I do not know what it is, but we killed it and it is fresh.

[“Eel?”

Haytham spoke aloud, thinking himself alone. Before he set pen back to paper to write a reply.]

I do know Ban, he is a member of the crew but as to the eel... I doubt that will be necessary--...

Are you crazy?

[Don't mind him butting in here but he heard someone mention Eel...]

We'll take the eel!

[In his haste he hasn't noticed who Haytham is writing back and forth to yet, but it wouldn't be long before he realized. If only they had some seaweed, and rice they'd be set for making THE BEST SUSHI ON THE PLANET]

[She has to laugh before she puts pen to paper again.]

I will bring some of the sea serpent. If nothing else, you can use it for bait. If Ban is your crew member, I shall also bring another gift that I am sure may be appreciated while it lasts.

[Alright, mystery meat is back on the menu! Wait- why would this person be bringing me a gift-. It's Elissa!]

You got so sick of your fellow crewmates you decided to jump ship? [He joked but then he included an additional line] We're in between things right now.. I'd say you could visit anytime. [They'd spoken about the possibility of meeting before, so why not make it sooner rather than later. ~~Chain of command.. what is that~~]

I am not sick of them, Evil Eyes. [That nickname alone is enough to illustrate that she's teasing him.] We are merely at port and allowed to take leave. As I am freshly bathed and hope to collect my clean clothing from the washerwoman quite shortly, I am at liberty to pay a visit - provided Ser Kenway and your captain are amenable. I should like to sample this Phoenix fruit.

None of us has yet to make use of the Naviraimant aboard my vessel, I shall be the first soul to brave an attempt.

[Cough. I see what you did there. Referencing that song] That explains it. [Although he would have welcomed some fresh faces onto their crew with open arms. It was hard sharing the same space with other people for this long] Sounds like you've all got it made over there. What's it matter, it's not like they can stop you from testing out the Nav. [Oh right, protocol and all that] I don't think they're going to say no.

[The phoenix fruit... should he warn her about the spicy element to it? NAW- let her learn the way I did. BUWHAHAHAHA]

I was planning on trying it out myself, but I'm going to wait on that since we'll be having a visitor pretty soon. [He couldn't help but smile]

Forgive me, Ser Kenway. I believe I may have responded beneath an over eager friend. Did you see my reply?

Over eager is generous.

[Ban might require a talking to later on. ]

Yes, I did see your reply despite the interruption. There would be no harm in your coming on-board. You have been given permission to do so.

[OOC: OR so says the crew for I did actually ask, you could have her meet them on 'Tardle Island' the Dog mentioned later if you wanted to save the Nav for something.]

[OOC: No one is in a rush to use our Nav. I'd rather Elissa come while her ship is at the port when this conversation began than wait. Otherwise, the gifts won't last. Shall we switch to action here or do a log? Your choice! (Though I do prefer not to use brackets.)]

Thank you, ser. Allow me an hour? That should be time enough for me to collect my clean clothing and be ready to come aboard.
