001 - audio

Okay.

[Deep breath. It's not that scary to talk to a book. Even if it's really weird and she hates this and wants to go home. She was supposed to actually have some time off. Be a slightly normal teenager.

That was the deal.

Save the world, get a week off.

Was it really that hard?!

So, early afternoon on the eleventh, after some exploring, she's sitting with her journal, posing her question.]

I jus' need t' ask y'all somethin'.

[Because this is important. Seriously important.]

Has anyone seen pyramids? Here. They might be stone or maybe metal. I just need t' know if there are any.

[If there are, maybe Apocalypse is still trapped, pulling them here to get his 'keys' again. To open whatever doors there are in this world.

Because that's who she suspects this 'Davy Jones' is. Just another name of Apocalypse for another place in space and time.

The last part, she says to herself, more as an after note. She doesn't quite know how these things work yet.]

Cracks of time, huh? Great. Really.

If you think the houses there -- where are you lot this month, back at Empieza? Right, if you think those houses aren't that different from whatever you're used to back home, then I pity the living standards you came from. ...Unless you're actually from a time where all those pyramids you mentioned are more than just tourist attractions. This world feels to me like I've gone backwards several centuries.

Pictures that are centuries old, yes...

I suppose they might be on some Egyptian-themed island somewhere. That wouldn't surprise me in the least, actually. But no, from what I've seen, there's nothing even remotely similar to that here.

[...Well that's sort of a peculiar name.]

Pleasure. I'm Draco Malfoy.

Do you intend to hang around there until someone tells you they've found some great pyramid, then?
dragonbadfaith: (I'm too cool for you)

And you're so interested in these pyramids...why?

Ah. Well, I've been here nearly a year now and I can tell you there's been no mention of any strange pyramid-type mishaps. All we've got is an angry green ghost.
dragonbadfaith: (hmm)

That's the one. I've never heard of ghosts having the type of power he seems to, usually they're mostly useless. But then there are a great many things about this world that are different from the norm.

There's actually kind of a lack of information about him... I've only seen him once, he turned up last month at the start of this race my crew was a part of. But evidently he appeared before everyone who first arrived here last year. Said some rubbish about finding that jewel you've probably read about by now, and that was really it. From what I gather, he used to be the captain of an impressive pirate crew, but that was years and years ago. Though one of his subordinates turned up back in January and was rather a pain in the arse.

Possibly. Which is why some crews, like my own, spend a good deal of their time trying to uncover more information about this world. Whether through interrogation or...other means. Not that we have the best luck. The Navy here is rather useless.

I meant useless for the purpose of gathering information. They don't know any more than we do about whatever magical properties this jewel might have, or about Davy Jones, or any of that. They're mostly just scared of the unknown and paint all of us as pirates, and as such see us as a threat. And then act against us.

For the most part, we've usually been able to hold our own when fighting them. Usually.

Of course it's strange. I suppose they know some things, just nothing overly informative or helpful. You know how it goes, things are lost to history, facts become myths and legends. They know Davy Jones once existed, they know there is a fabled jewel that supposedly grants wishes -- that's why there are plenty of people in this world who want it, too.

Everyone seems to know exactly that much, though. So if this is a distraction, as you seem to think, it might be difficult finding out the truth of why we're here. And how to get back.
