Okay.

[Deep breath. It's not that scary to talk to a book. Even if it's really weird and she hates this and wants to go home. She was supposed to actually have some time off. Be a slightly normal teenager.

That was the deal.

Save the world, get a week off.

Was it really that hard?!

So, early afternoon on the eleventh, after some exploring, she's sitting with her journal, posing her question.]

I jus' need t' ask y'all somethin'.

[Because this is important. Seriously important.]

Has anyone seen pyramids? Here. They might be stone or maybe metal. I just need t' know if there are any.

[If there are, maybe Apocalypse is still trapped, pulling them here to get his 'keys' again. To open whatever doors there are in this world.

Because that's who she suspects this 'Davy Jones' is. Just another name of Apocalypse for another place in space and time.

The last part, she says to herself, more as an after note. She doesn't quite know how these things work yet.]

Cracks of time, huh? Great. Really.

Ruins, huh? Yeah, might be jus' what I'm lookin' for.

[Somewhere abandoned. Somewhere you could hide if you were trapped and figuring out how to free yourself. Or where another people of another time and place locked away the ability to get out.]

I wouldn't give up hope just yet whatever the case might be. There is much of this world that has yet to be discovered by we who have been drafted to this place. Just because some say it would be impossible to find a certain thing doesn't mean it truly is. In my time here I've even managed to sail to an island where everything was made of candy, from the trees, to the rocks, to the animals flowers, and even rivers of chocolate.

That sounds... [stupid] interestin'.

Guess I've got a lot of lookin' ahead. Still.

[Xavier. Gambit. She's not sure who she's quoting, really.]

We do what we have to.

Yes it was certainly... [VERY STUPID] something...

But where are my manners? My name is Maribelle, or Lady Maribelle as many are known to call me.

Nice t' meet you. [Should she add on a "ma'am" there? She's not sure. So, she'll go with not.] 'M Rogue.

[There's a bit of a sigh from Maribelle, because the way she talks reminds her so much of Brady, and how much she wanted to correct his speech the first twenty dozen times she'd heard it.]

Is Rogue a common name where you are from? Or is it simply your profession?

It's sorta a nickname. [One she could never understand from her mother. But then Xavier and his group had started calling her "the rogue." And when she realized what Irene's powers were... Well, it was still weird.] Guess it kinda stuck.

Oh. I would ask what your real name is, but I suppose that might be prying if you prefer simply to be called Rogue.

An' you'd be right.

[It's a little colder than she meant to sound. But she hasn't used that name in a long time. She isn't that girl anymore.]

M-my apologies.

[She was still trying to be more tactful, but it seemed she still did rub people the wrong way quite often.]

So then Rogue, what are you hoping to find in these pyramids? Perhaps I might be of some assistance in that regard.

Tryin' to rule somethin' out. I jus' dealt with somethin' that liked pyramids, an' a lotta this seems like it could be tied t' the same thing. Or somethin' like it.

An interesting theory. Unlikely, but interesting nonetheless. Many people who find themselves here try to associate it with something they're familiar with, and I believe I did the very same thing upon my arrival. A part of me wonders if someday someone will be brought here who actually does have the situation 100% right and figured out from the start.

What I saw b'fore can teleport. Move from one place t' another instantly. An' it can move through time.

So... I ain' rulin' it out, y'know?

By all means, I don't think you should rule it out. It's possible there are other means and methods of being brought here we may not even be aware of.

In my world there are very few things with that kind of power, only beings thought to be nearly gods can move things through time. However teleportation was something that could be done on a small scale level if one had the proper tool, and the power neccesary.

Yeah, this thing... He sorta considered himself a god, an' I can' say he didn' have reason to. Never faced someone more powerful.

[She pauses, sighing.]

We didn' even beat 'im, really. Just trapped 'im. An' then what we trapped him in vanished.

[Okay, that sounded all too familiar... waaaay too familiar for comfort in fact.]

... His name wouldn't happen to be Grima by any chance, would he?

No. Least not where I'm from.

But that don' mean he don' have a lot of names in a lot of worlds.

Yes... I very much was thinking along those lines myself... can you tell me anything more about him? What form he normally had, what his objective typically was, what weaknesses he seemed to possess if any...

Looked like an Egyptian pharaoh. Blue-gray skin with greenish markings. Wanted t'... remake the world.

Only weakness I saw was that he had t' power the device he used with his own life force. Didn' kill 'im, but left 'im weak enough t' trap in it.

Hmm... that does sound similar enough in its own way that it could be him. This Pharoah, or whatever it was... do you think it was a living, breathing, alive being?

[Rogue thinks about that long and hard. Because Apocalypse was something else. Something powerful beyond her comprehension. What he did was more than the powers she brought to him. It was beyond anything she could really grasp.

And yet...]

I think it used t' be.

That is what I was afraid of... It definitely sounds like it could be the work of Grima, known as the fell dragon of the apocalypse in my world. I would suggest you speak to my son Brady about it, as he has had much more personal experience with Grima than I have ever had.

"Dragon of the Apocalypse"?

[Oh, yes. That definitely sounds right.]

My world, he just called himself "Apocalypse."

Tell me... did your Apocalypse use armies of the dead to help achieve his ends? Because it could simply be that he imbued his powers into one of his many agents to try to claim your world, not trusting his true form to remain safe after some of his previous defeats in our world.

No armies of the dead, but he did take people an' turn 'em against us. People we knew. Strong ones that we could hardly fight.
