005 - audio

[A little girl's voice comes through the journal. Except, it's a little more hardened and bitter than usual! Anyone who's spoken to B.B. before may not find the voice instantly recognizable, a definite change from the usual high pitched tone the young lady has.]

Are we done crying about everyone leaving yet?

I've been here what, half a year now? I get it at this point. Who stays and who goes is completely up to some asinine bullshit whim. But guess what? Everyone whining won't bring them back. That's just how it is.

Grow a pair and move the hell on already. Leaving is what humans do. If you don't know that by now, there's no hope for any of you.

[Don't mind her. She might be sampling some fruits from way up high.]

Children who hear without listening shouldn't speak using words they misdefine about such deep matters out of their depths of intellect.

It's easy to mock mourning when you haven't lost anyone.

[His voice is calm, easy.]

Namur is neither human, nor vanished into thin air. And if you paid any attention at all you would know that more than half of those who've gone missing have returned. And if you paid better attention you would sift through the clues enough to know that the Navy has been prone to taking prisoners and removing them from Davy Jones' grasp. Only a fool would think that the Navy is our only foe to worry about, but amounting it to Jones' whims is exactly what they want us to do.

Perhaps it isn't those who left who are being mourned.

Not what I meant, actually. Death here seems to be quite fleeting.

[His own tone doesn't change. It remains perfectly calm, almost serene.]

I'm sure you'll come to it yourself. Eventually.

It's yours too, petite caneton. Or did you somehow miss the return of your own captain?

Maybe if you asked Grell politely she'll unclog your ears for you. [Or cut them off. Either/or.]

An unwise point of view.

Living in the past is foolish, of course. Holding onto what's gone so tightly that nothing new can come. But it's equally foolish to look straight ahead with no notice of what's gone before. Experience, especially viewed through the lens of a year or more past, is a valuable teacher.

Though I'm sure you'll disregard all of that.

[He actually sounds like he's smiling -- like he's amused -- at the last sentiment.]
fierybluebird: (Keep talking)

Because she was returned.

If you thought she was locked up and being experimented upon because she is different from most people's ideas of human [including Marco's because... duh?] it wouldn't be untoward to ask the other ships if they had seen her instead or to keep an eye out for, eh.

And only the most ignorant child thinks that the strongest person in the world doesn't still need someone to guard their back.

[He's quiet for a moment, because that actually does hit home for him.]

[Pirates are terrible opportunists and hearing that the strongest; the captain, their uniting banner, was gone, was always an invitation to attacks: as Marco learned all too well from his father's death.]

Are you all, all right? Any losses? Or something we can do to help?

[No matter how god damn annoyed he was, he still considered the Spades and Bloody Roses allies. And Grell a friend.]

wow rude
i know there's nothing we can do about people disappearing but getting on someone's case for being upset about it isn't going to help
if you complain about people whining they're just going to whine louder
but at you this time
because you're whining about people whining and it's dumb.

[Kyouya might have just barely held back a chuckle there.]

Then figure out how to stop wasting time.

But, ah. To do that, you'd have to examine the past and alter your conduct accordingly. So, it seems, if you hold to your self-professed way of thinking, you're stuck doing exactly what you have been.
