[voice] action to Straw Hats

Oi, Spades! Or anyone still at Port Chance. Is Luffy with you? He didn't come to breakfast this morning and he's not on the ship. We set out last night but maybe he decided to pop back and visit somebody while we were still close.

...come to think of it, I haven't seen Robin around either. I assumed she was already onboard when we raised sail.

So if he's over with you guys, will you send his ass back? He didn't tell us where he wanted to set course to, and I dunno where to go. If anybody's even seen him or Robin, tell me.

[the other Straw Hats on board may see Zoro pacing the ship restlessly, triple-checking every nook and cranny of the ship. Somebody as quiet and private as Robin can easily elude notice, but Luffy? His Supreme Noisiness not being onboard is pretty obvious and as the day goes on, Zoro will start to really worry.]

[if he wasn't teetering on the edge of freaking out about Luffy being gone - possibly for a long time, possibly never coming back - he would use that to his advantage and tease the cook about being inferior to him. Not today, though.]

[Takes another drag of his smoke, his expression turning more serious again as he exhales in a sigh.]

...It seems less okay being in this shitty world if Luffy ain't here, too. Even though I know time supposedly isn't passing back home and all that, and we're not missing anything while we're here. But if he's not here, I feel like we should be trying harder to get back or something. Back to where he is.

[he nods, leaning his back against the railing this time]

It's not like he asked us to wait two years for him, in this case. We should do everything we can to get home. Not that we haven't, but...without him, this place is just going to turn to shit.

Mm...

[Can't really disagree with that.]

We'll figure it out. Nami-san is still here, at least. And Brook. We'll make it work. We're gonna have to.

Assuming that's what happened, but it seems like the most likely option. [Nudges Zoro with his elbow.] Check your journal, see if anyone else has said anything. I mean, I really fucking doubt someone came by and snatched both of 'em up in the middle of the night, we would've noticed.

[He pauses, taking the time to finish off his cigarette.]

Plus the fact that Robin-chan is gone, too... She would've said something if they went anywhere.

[Scowls, stubbing out the cigarette against the rail and then flicking it out over the water. He watches as it drifts down and vanishes in the choppy waves, and then his brow furrows.]

...Unless there was some kinda shitty accident.

[He huffs and pulls his journal back out from his haramaki, riffling through it to the page where he made his request. Nothing else helpful, just people wondering.]

Nothing. If Robin went with the Spades or anything like that, they'd say so.

[he shakes his head and stows the book, his thoughts wavering around that dark idea]

Luffy was with us, so I don't think he's been attacked or captured. We'd have noticed. But Robin...I wasn't paying attention, I didn't see whether she'd gotten on board when Luffy made the call to raise sail.

Robin-chan had to have been here, there's no way I would've let us set sail if she wasn't. I would've noticed!

[Right? Right.

Unless.

He was in a hurry.

Because he was rushing back from a certain inn.

After spending all afternoon there with Zoro.

And so was kind of in a post-sex daze.

And probably distracted.

[SUDDENLY SHOOTING A GLARE ZORO'S WAY.]

...what?

[WHY ARE YOU GLARING AT ME COOK]

[Shoves his shoulder.]

We weren't paying attention to a damn thing when we got back last night! Hell, we're probably lucky we got on the right ship!

[he flushes a bit at that. That's the one thing he doesn't want, if they start getting in really deep - he doesn't want to neglect the crew over it.]

All right, but...if we'd left without her, Robin would have called us. Right?

[desperate for this not to be a horrible mistake...]

[Zoro's flush makes Sanji's face heat up, too, and he backs down with a grumpy huff.]

...She would've.

[Then he sighs and drags a hand over his face.]

No, she had to be here, come on. Luffy wouldn't left without her either. They both disappeared overnight.

[he nods his acceptance of Sanji's assessment]

So if neither of them are answering my message, then they both have to be really gone. Both at once.

[there's something cold in the pit of his stomach. Acceptance sucks.]

Yeah.

[He turns so his back is to the railing and then pushes himself up to sit on it. After a moment, he nudges Zoro with his foot.]

You know. It won't be the same without Luffy. And the thought of Robin-chan being gone breaks my heart. But we've got other nakama who aren't here, and we've soldiered on without them.

[He lets out a soft laugh.]

I miss Chopper. And even Franky, that shitty pervert. I don't even know what happened to them with that whole asshole bear guy mess.

I know. And we've got other crew now, too, who look up to us. Not just Keimi and Bepo but the ponies and Elsa and her sister...

[He leans subtly into the knee nearest where he is, and stays there]

They came out stronger. Dunno where they ended up but it did 'em some good, like all of us.

Anna-chan. [He smiles.] I like our crew now. Just, it'd be nice to have the one from home all together again.

[There's something like homesickness tugging at him all of a sudden, even though this world really isn't all that different. And they've had Merrily for months now. Even so, he still longs to have Sunny under his feet again, and wants to talk to his nakama who he hasn't seen in damn near a year.

Zoro's attempts at being subtle don't go unnoticed, but there's no one else on deck right now and even if there was, Sanji isn't in a mood to care. He shifts, working his foot around Zoro's knee and trying to urge him closer. Between his legs, to be specific, for no reason other than he wants him there.]

Did Chopper get big?

[he looks around sheepishly, but no, there's no one around to catch them, so he grudgingly moves over, settling with his back to Sanji between his legs.]

Some of his forms, yeah. His Brain Point is still just as tiny, but he looks like a real monster in Heavy Point now. I think he discovered a couple more forms, too.

[Gives him a brief squeeze with his thighs but then relaxes back, fiddling absently with the collar of his shirt.]

Heh. Kid's what, seventeen now? Still looks like he's five.

[he remains stoic until a fingertip brushes his neck, and then there's a shiver]

It's the Devil Fruit. Hell, I wonder sometimes if Luffy's ever going to have old-man wrinkles like Rayleigh because he's rubber.

[aw, but that reminds him that Luffy's gone and sad now.]

[Yep, felt that shiver, heh -- but he pauses at the Luffy mention and deflates a bit himself.]

...Lucky bastard.

[Threads a hand up into Zoro's hair.]

I ain't ever getting shitty old-man wrinkles either.

[DECIDED.]

That so? Make sure you live long enough to prove it.

[he glances over his shoulder, his expression easing but not quite cracking a smile. He appreciates it, really, cook.]

I will.

[Absently rubbing his fingers against Zoro's head now, like some kind of one-handed massage. He meets his eyes, holding that gaze.]

You'd better, too.

Damn right I will.

[oooooooh that feels good. His eye closes, and he sags in surrender, letting Sanji do whatever he wants to his head because mmm. That does take the stress away.]

[Sanji grins a little, softly, and keeps his hand moving gently through Zoro's hair.

It's a moment or two before he speaks again.]

You're gonna be fine.

[As captain.

Not that Zoro needs the reassurance.]

[of course he doesn't, what do you take him for?

Except that he does. For all his declaring that if Luffy got weak he would take over as captain, he's never really been prepared to do so. He grunts softly in acknowledgement, content to have at least one person there who understands.]
