Ninth Rose: Back from the dead. Again. [VOICE + Action for Spades]

[One moment, he's on the deck of the Sun, then the next, he's in the crow's nest. Aya is disoriented as he gets up from a prone position on the floor of the crow's next and peers over the side. To say he's surprised by his new position is an understatement.]

How did I get up here? [He looks around, curiously.] Is this some sort of prank?

Selphie, what's going on? [Her urgency is making him uneasy, and he looks around for his sword but doesn't see it. Hopefully it's still in his room. He still had some small knives in each boot and garotte wire in case something is happening down below.]

[He peers over the side, trying to catch a glimpse of Selphie from his high place.]

*Selphie comes speeding along the deck, fast enough that she's struggling to get herself to stop, smacking into the post of the crow's nest. Then she tips her head back and looks up, looking like she might cry and laugh at the same time on seeing Aya there*

AYYAAA!! It's you!! I'm coming up!!

*But she's shaking with excitement, so that makes climbing up there a little difficult. She's clearly having difficulty, but she's getting there all the same*

[At first, Aya smiles down to her, but that was definitely after she looks up at him. Not when she smacks into the pole, which the vibration reverberated up to him, nor when she was climbing up. He feels that he should help her somehow.]

[Now he's definitely worried.]

*When she finally reaches the top, and see Aya so close to her, she gives a gasp and squeal that look and sound as though she's about to burst. Then she just launches herself at him, wrapping all her limbs around him*

Aya! Aya! You're here, Aya! You're actually here!

[At first, Aya was going to wave a bit at her once Selphie reached the top, but she obviously had better plans. He catches her, but stumbles back and uses the pole keeping up the crow's nest to prevent him from falling.]

Well, usually I'm not in the crow's nest, but I'm here. Why wouldn't I be? [His arms are a bit...confined, but he manages to pat her back with a bit of effort.]

You were gone, Aya... You were all gone... Disappeared.

*She squeezes him tighter as she says so, then gives a quiet sob and buries her face in his chest. She stays like that for a moment before looking up at him with a scowl, despite the hints of tears in her eyes*

A month! Four whole weeks! Did you know that?! I thought I'd never see you again! Four stupid weeks!

...gone?

[Aya holds her close at hearing her quiet sobs. He had no recollection of being anyplace but on the ship. He furrows his eyebrows at trying to piece things together when she looks at him with that scowl.]

A...month?

[He shakes his head at first, not saying anything, but he's sure Selphie wouldn't lie about something like this.] Are...you sure? Was there another sea witch?

*Selphie shook her head against his chest, essentially using that as a way to dry any potential tears. She mumbled a little, but realised he probably couldn't hear her, so she looked back up at him again*

No. No sea witch. You just left...Vanished. I thought you weren't gonna ever come back, but now you are back and - and you even remember me!

*Now, finally, she smiled brightly up at him, beyond happy to see him again*

I don't remember leaving, though.

[Was this all the work of Davy Jones? Why would he make him disappear and just reapear later on?]

Has this happened before to anyone else? [He pushes back some hair from Selphie's eyebrows while inquiring. Maybe this was part of some bigger plan...]

*Selphie smiles up at him when he pushes back her hair, still so happy to know that she could see him and feel him and that he was really real*

Hmm... Didn't it happen to Korra before? She went back home and came back here, I think. I dunno if it's happened to people on other crews though...

I wonder for what reason that happens. [It sounded too much like body snatchers. Aya looks contemplative.] Was she any different when she returned?

I don't know... I guess the same reason anyone winds up here in the first place. People disappear all the time.

*Selphie frowns in concern as he thinks this over*

I don't think so. Do you feel different...?

Hmm...

[At her question, Aya shakes his head.]

Not that I can tell. Maybe I should see a doctor or something to make sure.

*She nods a little and steps back, looking down out ouf the crow's nest*

I think in the meantime you should let me look after you!

Are you a doctor now? [Aya smiled softly, obviously teasing. He began to adjust his watch before pulling out garrotte wire and wrapping it around the pole.]

I sure am! Your personal doctor! Or a nurse - I could get an outfit if you like!

*Half joking. Maybe. Then she watched what he was doing with his watch and walked over*

Uhm... what are you doing?

[Aya raises an eyebrow at her suggestion of an outfit.]

Well, you could use one for some other time, but not for me. [She could pose as a nurse if they needed to go undercover somewhere.]

I'm getting down to the deck.

Oh. Well, I was just sayin. I heard some guys like that is all...

*She shrugs it off, not wanting to weird him out when she's only just got him back*

With your wire thing? You're gonna leave me up here?!

[He looks to the wire, then to her, then to the wire again. He was sure it could hold them both, but he had never tried before.]

Do you want to come along?

*Then Selphie looks at the wire, then back to Aya again, but her lips and pursed closed as it looks like she's doing her best not to cry. She's not doing a good job of not looking upset though*

You mean... you were, you were just going to go down there? By yourself? On your own? And leave me up here? Even though..even though I've waited a whole month for you?

But. But okay. If I'm not too heavy..I'll try.

Actually, I've never used this type of wire in this way before, so if something were to happen, I'd be the only one injured, not you. [He wasn't trying to leave her behind for a silly reason!] Maybe trying from the crow's nest isn't the best choice.

[He was finding it difficult to try it out. Aya does notice her expression and extends a hand to her.]

I just don't want you hurt after you've been waiting so long.

Oh...

*Well, she feels a little bit better about that, and she smiles, feeling a bit silly, as he takes her hand. Selphie turns and looks down at the rigging she climbed to get there, then at the wire thing*

Hmm. Maybe...I'll just climb down, and meet you at the bottom?

Are you sure? It could be romantic to have matching injuries. Maybe. [Aya gives a feeble smile. He's fairly sure it should be safe...]

*The magic word of romance perks her up immediately, and she stands close by his side, eyes wide as she looks up at him*

Okay! Let's try it! Should I hold into you somehow?

[With a smile and nod, Aya brought an arm about her waist and stepped up to the edge of the crow's nest. Literally stepping on it.]

On the count of three. One...two...
