Well, I see that everyone is still alive. Yes, good. Excellent.

Unfortunately, I am rather too preoccupied to talk, even to know what day. We seem to have a bit of a situation with things. It’s under control, under control perfectly but there might be some changes coming soon, just so you know. It’s certainly not the natural order of things, at least not so long as I have been working for the Mistress, but everything must change a little, mustn’t it?

I can answer what questions I may, but I really must deal with this [scribbled out word] situation.

Ah, what language? I know several. In fact I received an award for it when I was but a sproutling. Unfortunately due to the nature of the journals, I'm afraid that transcribing it would prove useless to your edification. However, if you were interested, I could send you a letter?

I think that would be quite nice, actually. I've found knowing a variety of languages ever so useful in the past.

[scurveydog]

In that case I shall send you a sampler as soon as I get a chance! There are quiet a vast number of languages in this world, which I don't think gets fully appreciated. There are also some languages lost to time and ruin, those I don't know, of course, but they are quite nice to look at and I have several rubbings!

Maybe when things quiet down a bit you'll allow me to study with you for a few days. You can assure your Mistress that I promise to behave.

[silence and then the writing appears a little jagged as if his hands are shaking]

Well er that is to say...

Perhaps if you wore an overcoat at all times it would be acceptable? Otherwise I'm not entirely sure if I would be able to [a long pause] focus.

I'll be sure to pick one up at the next winter island we visit.

Assuming the whatever it is that's been shifted out of its natural order doesn't prevent me, of course.

It may very well tear apart the world as we know it devolving into horror and chaos the like of which no one has ever seen. Possibly. But there are some contingency plans in place so don't worry. I am not worried. There is no worry in me. It will all work out perfectly fine. Please do not panic.

Anything we can do to help? This is our world too, for now.

That will be up to the Mistress to decide. Provided... provided... well, provided. I am not very good with giving orders, I'm afraid, or even indeed coming up with viable solutions. I am just a humble Meep in over his head.

Then I'm sure we'll be hearing from her when she's sufficiently sober and/or has a moment to breathe. I'll keep an eye on the journals for her missive.

Sobriety and my Mistress do not go hand in hand during this month, I'm afraid. It takes her some time to recover. I normally am enthused by her enthusiasm, intoxicated as it may be however-- I rather wish she'd not attempted to interfere with what should likely not be interfered with while she was seeing yellow kraken performing ballet.

So this is her mess to clean up?

I would not say so in so many words myself, no. Someone else may however suggest that she could have picked a slightly better time with which to work with such forces but that person would likely regret saying so for quite some time so it is definitely not me who would say so, knowing the Mistress as I do.

No doubt she had her reasons.

She was certainly, mostly, well intentioned definitely I'm sure.

It's been a pleasure conversing with you. I'll be watching for those letters.

It might be some time but I must admit I'm a bit excited to share all that I've learned! I wonder if Miss Margaret has a weight limit....

Perhaps it would be wiser to break it up into a series of smaller parcels, don't you think?
