[Action]

[It was supposed to be a good afternoon swim, with the added bonus of setting things up to make a shitload of money when the crew finally went back to the surface. Sure, the river current up on the cloud island of Hamara Swarga is a little fast, but it's nothing a fishman and a mermaid should need to worry about. Namur should have known better when the male jewel fish turned tail and fled upstream, but Nami had cornered a female and he wasn't about to head back to the ship without either one. The current crushed in around them, the drab female jewel fish- much smaller and more streamlined- darted away, and the aquatic Spades found themselves being driven over the drop. Namur managed to get ahold of Nami with one hand, the other grasping and finding a stray root right near the edge, swinging them both out beneath the waterfall, and beneath the cloud island itself. He's not sure how long they hung like that, but it had quickly become clear that the root wouldn't hold. He told her to hold on, but she let go anyway, leaving him grasping at air and watching in helpless horror as she fell, until he couldn't even make out her form from the glittering waves miles below. He yelled himself hoarse, as if somehow screaming her name into the vast nothingness would make a difference. But no matter how much haki he threw behind his words, she never reappeared. Eventually, he had to accept the truth.

He wasn't strong enough to keep her safe.

The root gave way and he only had a moment to scrabble with his fingers against the rough underside of the island, digging in with all of his strength and whatever force of will he still possessed, and eventually he managed to make his way out from beneath the waterfall itself and drape his arms over a thin protruding shelf of rock, where he stopped to rest. Wind and spray whipped into him, threatening to blow him off. No way in hell he was going to make it back to the top on his own. Then he remembered the journals.

It was a tricky affair, reaching down and pulling the soaked but magically preserved book out of his back pocket, but he managed, and flipped the thing open with one hand.]

[Voice]

[At first there's only the sound of wind tearing at the corners of the pages in the journal and a crashing roar of a nearby waterfall. Then Namur catches his breath, and yells, because his voice is too broken to be heard otherwise.]

Ace or Haruta or Logan or any a y' damn birds still 'round! Maybe Korra! Hell, any Spades, I don't even care! Gone off the shitty waterfall an' I need a lift! Fast!

[There's a scraping noise, a hoarse cough, and then much softer, barely discernible over the background noise:]

Help!

Hnn. Well, I won't be able to get too close. Dunno what'll happen if I go in those clouds, but--

[Ace breathed out, spreading out his hands. He raised his arms and then fired off a cross-shaped blast into the mist, right over Namur. The clouds were hurled back as Ace made a wall of flames to stop them--making Namur much more visible.] Now they can grab onto you! I'll let 'em pass through!
