*Faye sounds breathless, like she's desperately excited to share something, and also like she's doing her best not to allow herself to laugh*

*Faye gasps when he starts his joke, mostly because she was holding her breath during that pause, waiting to see what he'd say*

Uhm. Uhm. Uhm. I dunno! Why?

....she was a sea gull [silence]

*Give her a moment or two while she blinks at her journal*

*Nope. She's not getting it. Not really. But then she realises and bursts out laughing*

Sea gull! Thash, I get it! But that kinda sucked!

*But wow, she's giggling away like she's super amused*

Yeah, well, I'm not exactly a comedian....

[but he seemed pleased enough that he'd made her giggle and smile by the sound of it. She was acting so silly he was starting to wonder if she was drunk. At least she was happy]

Oh, by the way, I forgot about it because the monster attacked, but I found something for you besides fish on that last dive. It's not much but I'll come by and give it to you whenever you want me to.

*She might seem a little drunk, but Faye isn't usually like this either after some drinks. Later on, once the pink haze clears, maybe she'll have a happy hangover*

Ooh! Ooh really? What did you get? Come bring it any time!

[he chuckled a bit] well don't get too excited, like I said it's not much. But okay, I'll be over there in a minute.

[a few minutes later she'd hear a knock at her door]

*Apparently, being excited was about all that Faye could manage right now. She was all giddy and easily excitable. So when he knocks at her door, she rushes over and swings it open*

Hi Thashy Sharky Warky!

Uh, hi Faye. [she was really acting weird. Good, but weird. He was starting to wonder if that child curse had come back and changed her consciousness to that of a kid much like it had changed his body]

You seem to be in an unusually good mood...

*She lets the door go as she heads back into the room, then spins round to him with a bright smile*

Maybe I'm just happy to see you. Ever think of that, huh? Though I guess maybe you're not happy to see me. After the kid thing. And then me shouting at you with the monster thing.

[well, maybe he'd figure out why she was acting weird later, or maybe she was just legit in a super happy mood. Either way, for now he just rolled with it]

Eheh, no, it's nothing like that. I'm happy to see you too. Anyway, this is what I found...[he held a hand out and opened it palm-up. Sitting in his hand was a pretty small pearl...maybe half the size of a pea. It was neither perfectly round nor smooth... It was kinda shaped like a grain of rice and had little swirled lumps on it. Still though, it shimmered with the typical radiant whiteness of a pearl]

There you go... Not the best one I've ever found, but it's still pretty.

*Faye took his hand, holding it either side with one of her own, and she peered down to look at the pearl. It really was teeny tiny. Usually, Faye would have made a comment, but in this mood she just giggled softly*

It's weird, Thash. So teeny tiny.

*She takes it carefully from his hand, pinching it between her fingers and holding it up to the light*

Yeah... Back in my home world, I'd usually only find around ten pearls per year, and over half of them weren't round or smooth or large. A lot were like this one. But hey, it's encouraging in a way....if I can find imperfect pearls in this world, chances are I'll find a perfect one eventually.

Ten pearls per year, huh? That's not so many!

*She smiles and shuffles closer towards Thash*

And when you find that perfect one you can give it to the girl of your dreams!

For now, though, I need to keep this little beauty close!

*Faye smirks at him, then promptly drops the pearl down the cente of her cleavage*

Heh, yeah...[his eyes widened when she dropped it between her breasts. He certainly hadn't expected that] is that uh...a normal place for women to keep things? [he asked rather incredulously]

Depends what kinda things.

*Faye giggles a little as she glances down at her chest*

But sure, it's a safe place. Unless...

*Shuffling a little closer to him with a cheeky grin*

Unless you were planning on diving in there to steal the pearl back?

Ah, w-what?! No, I don't need it....

[he blushed and looked away, trying not to stare at her chest. His tail started swaying back and forth anxiously, and she might notice at this point it had a bandage on it]

Seriously, you keep it

*Faye just giggles at his reaction and reaches up to tap at his cheek lightly, leaning round to try and catch his eye. That was when she noticed the bandage, and she took a step back, eyes wide*

What happened to you, Thashy baby?

[He almost laughed at the funny pet names she was calling him but managed to restrain himself, glancing back at his tail]

oh. The sea monster bit me when I was in the water.

[...which implied he had actually jumped into the water with it. He didn't detail the reason for this seemingly insane act]

Don'y worry, it didn't break any bones...just cut up the skin and muscle a bit.

*The haze that had caused her giddiness might have meant that she dealt with her concern somewhat differently. Instead of anger, she blinked sadly and moved forward to give him a gentle hug*

Awww. What happened? What were you doing in the water, silly?

[He sort of stiffened and held still when she hugged him. It was clear by his tenseness he definitely wasn't used to this kind of contact. He blushed and it took him a few moemnts to respond. Despite hsi tail being wounded, it thumped on the wall lightly after she hugged him]

I...uh... well... ahem, Arthur got dragged into the water. I was just bringing him back. I managed to get him back onto the ship and helpe dhim start breathing again, but before I got out of the water the monster chomped down on my tail a bit.

[He finally relaxed just a tiny bit, worried he would offend her by his strnage reaction]

I kicked it in the eye though, so it let go before doing any serious damage.

*Faye definitely noticed that reaction, and this time she hadn't even meant it deliberately just to tease him. She gave him a strange look, hiding giggles behind her hand*

So.. you're a hero then! Thash the hero!!

*And despite noticing his reaction, she laughs softly and launches forward for yet another hug, a tighter one this time*

Oh...gimme a break, I am not. [when she hugged him again he was still surprised but reacted a little more calmly this time, patting her in the back]

Thanks for the sentiment, but I was only doing what a reasonable crew member should. I've done way too many bad things for that one act to make me a hero.

[he didn't even want to think about the people he'd purposely drowned in the past. He'd gotten attacked a lot in his world and didnt hesitate to defend himself. Much of the time there water water conveniently nearby, and he was a far stronger swimmer than most who attacked him so he'd used it to his advantage more than once]

*Apparently, Faye hasn't lost her sensitivity, even if it shows itself differently thanks to the pink haze. She stepped back from the hug, her arms folded over her chest, looking down at the floor sullenly*

Sorry. Was only trying to be nice...

Bet Arthur thinks you're a hero.

You don't have anything to apologize for. Like I said, it a a nice thought and all. If I was a jerk if just let you think it, but I want you to know the truth. I'm a killer... I've killed a lot of people.

[the air felt heavy after he finished speaking, and he sighed a bit]

I hope Arthur doesn't get the wrong idea either. I dknt want people thinking in this nice, awesome guy who risks his life for others all the time. I don't deserve that.

*Probably, Thash is lucky that Faye has been affected by this mist. Ordinarily, she'd have slapped him or kicked him out for this kind of chat. She didn't have much time for people who wallowed about themselves, especially their pasts*
