She's GONE! SHE'S GONE! CODI'S GONE!

[Denzel sobs for a few moments, why is it that he just can't seem to keep people in his life?]

Why did she leave me?! HOW DARE SHE! She said she was my friend!

[There's the sound of him pounding on the table with his fists before silence. There is nothing he can do bue he see her disappear into thin air, quite literally and sighs in distress. There's only one thing he can do he suppose and turns to the book.]

If.. Anyone needs a - scientist aboard their ship.

I don't think she could help it, weird guy. This sort of stuff just happens. But maybe she'll come back one day.

Well make it un-happen! NOW!

[After another spite of rage Crocker groans in distress, he didn't want another person to be his friend. This felt like it only proved Crocker's point. He doesn't have friends because people don't stick with him. Ever. And it was that very thinking that kept him from bonding with Codi right off the bat even if she wanted too but they still did end up bonding in the end and yet, he's lonely and does want someone.]

I'm not one to get my hopes up about that.

If I could kick his ass and make him do what I wanted, I would. But I can't yet. So hang in there, weird guy.

[he understands about the not wanting to hope thing. It's pretty hard, especially when it's someone you really care about you're waiting for]

[Denzel is quiet he has no intent on dying at the very least but this guy is rooting for him about being lonely. There's a moment where Crocker almost wonders - no it's too soon to trust someone else.]

And what do you know about loneliness?

[Nope, he doesn't believe that you know Luffy and misery does love company.]

No way. Why should I? [he doesn't wanna share with you. Anyway you weren't lonely like he was just like he can't be like you are]

Because I find it hard to believe that someone who is usually so happy can be lonely.

[Even if he is lonely he has her dinosaurs at least and her shard but for right now... People friends will have to wait.]

All I'm looking for is a crew where I can build inventions for. THAT'S IT!

Mmm Well it's gonna be hard to be in a crew if you don't like 'em. Why not find people you wanna sail with first and invent later?

Why? I can tolerate people. [After all he does when he's teaching and Crocker breaks out into a maniacal laugh that leads into crying.]

[The other fails to understand that Crocker needs his time to pull himself together from the loss.]

At least you're being honest about it. [Points for that, she figures.]

What are you going to do now?

Find a crew that needs an inventor. Invent for them. [Screw human (or rather done with) relationships again for who knows how long. Crocker may not be outright saying that but there is such a sub-text of that.]

An inventor? That sounds rather interesting. What kind of stuff do you usually invent?

[Denzel fiddles with his glasses for a few moments.]

My specialty is manipulating wish magic... But I can perform 'actual' science as well.

I've never heard of wish magic, but I think your 'actual science' might have more use here.

[Crocker breaks into a maniacal laugh.] Sure a world here where magic actually exists, 'actual science' is going to be so helpful.
Speaking of which that was sarcasm.

[Crocker continues to laugh like a lunatic.]

It's not as if that type of technology will fair against magic.

[There's indescribable English as Crocker mumbles to himself before he clearly states.] Well... NEVER MIND!

Anyways... Do you need a inventor for your ship?

We have two ships, but I don't think it would matter much.

[In his panic Crocker sounds rather touched about that.]

We may be strangers, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't help each other out.

[Crocker sounds somewhere between crazed and sad.]

How did she disappear? Any trace of smoke or any hint she might have been summoned, or did she just stop existing there?

One minute I was staring at her and she then she was just - GONE!

No, no magical poof.

She - SHE WENT HOME!

[He had overhead the only other crew mate that's there, that's what happens when people go home. There's more hysterical, until Crocker sounds like he's worn himself out.]

[There again -- that seemingly-universal assumption that people who vanish just go home. Maybe it's because of the few that have come back and claimed to have done so, but Sasuke is still inclined to chalk it up to hope.

Though Crocker doesn't actually sound like he's particularly hopeful about things.]

What makes you think she's gone home?

BECAUSE! My crew mate said that only other reason for her missing like that is... dying. And she didn't die.

But that's besides the point!

[Dying would have been more obvious, Sasuke supposes, but the faint hysteria in the man's tone is making him something less than convincing about the going-home thing.]

[Well, maybe that's a fair thing for someone new to freak out about on its own, but still.]

[There's also the part of Crocker that he's use to other leaving him eventually and always expects the worst.]

I mean that people disappear all the time here. Sometimes they come back, sometimes they don't.
